yes you can make an image of the SD card, with for example Win32DiskImager.

read to save the image, write to put it on the SD (self explanatory actually)

Nice one thanks irritant.

I am working through the windows install of this
and at this point

Code:
sed -r "s/winsock.h/winsock2.h/" /mingw/include/ptw32_errno.h -i
sed -r "s/0x0501\)/0x0001\)\n#include <ptw32_errno.h>\n/" /mingw/include/ws2tcpip.h -i
sed -r "s/__struct_timespec_defined/_TIMESPEC_DEFINED/" /mingw/include/time.h -i
sed -r "s/\_UWIN \*\//\*\/\n\nstatic char* strtok_r(char *s, const char *d, char **n) { char *r; if (s == NULL) s = *n; s += strspn(s, d); if (*s == '\\\0') return NULL; r = s; s += strcspn(s, d); if (*s) *s++ = '\\\0'; *n = s; return r; }\n/" /mingw/include/string.h -i

All four flag unable to edit or find

Any idea where I missed a step to cause this? I ensured the security was set to everyone..

Moved on from the above
and in the dir
C:\MinGW\msys\1.0\home\<username>\git\vthoang\cgminer
No .exe file at all

I wish there was an easier way to run these without a bunch of copy/paste that user doesn't understand, and luck of a working GUI type program coming which will support these?

Do the precompiled downloadable Windows executables provided in the first post and referenced in the Windows post not work on your system?

@vh

I just had cgminer die, twice, with

Code:
hotplug thread 362 create failed

being the last message in the log.

I have the latest vh cgminer (built two days ago, Monday) on RaspPi B+. 2 Compacs (on one powered hub) and 2 2Pacs on Pluggable USB2 7 Port hub (60W).
Pluggable hub was used until Monday to run 2 Compacs@300 Mhz on previous, cgminer-gekko, version - no HWs, no problems whatsoever.
Since the other hub has lower power I lowered frequency for Compacs to 275, and plugged 2Pacs, with a bit higher vcore, @225.
I have big nice fan blowing air on all four of the sticks and one smaller one adding more airflow on 2Pacs.

Everything was running nicely for about 15 hours - no HWs on 2Pacs, occasional HW on Compacs (I guess I should lower freq a bit more, until I get beefier hub).

Then one of 2Pacs decided it does not want to cooperate anymore

Code:
[2017-03-22 21:40:46.307] GSD 1: No valid hashes recently, attempting to reset
 [2017-03-22 21:40:46.582] GSD 1 attempted reset got err:(0) LIBUSB_SUCCESS

 [2017-03-22 21:40:52.971] GSD 3 failure, disabling!

and that continued untul

Script started cgminer again, 1 2Pac, 2 Compacs found, more of the same from the other 2Pac, but this time I noticed what was happening, unplugged the second 2Pac, plugged it in again and it came back to life.

It seems that 362 is the magic number. I'm not sure if it's the original cgminer's magic number or if it's related to 2Pac driver.

Hope this helps.

Might turn the voltage up a bit on the 2Pac or something. I don't know if it's a work restart thing or a power imbalance thing but sometimes they'll kick out. The only way to bring it back up is to cycle the ASICs' reset pin, which for most people means unplug/replug because there's no software control of the reset line.

As for why it kills cgminer, that I don't know.

Each driver thread instance remains after the device dies, and after 360 odd devices, each with its own driver thread, the system will not allow the one application to create any more threads. The solution is to not create an actual driver thread until it's clear the device is really working (in code) rather than just detected.

After the initial warmup (running sticks on stock vcore and 100Mhz), I upped the voltage to 1.50 and started increasing frequency. One stick chugs nicely, the other one dies. Then I upped the voltage on the second one a bit more (can't be sure if it was quarter turn or half a turn) and I just measured it at 1.63 - I'm talking about string voltage (as described on an image posted earlier, I believe, in this thread). ASIC voltages are, what is expected I guess, half of that. Since my last post I lowered frequency to 200Mhz, but nothing changed. One stick works, the other one works for a while then commits suicide Smiley

BTW, Compacs had reset pin marked. I tried locating it on 2Pac but failed.

Try swapping the sticks between the USB hub ports. Does the same stick take a nap or does the fault stay with the same port?

I found the problem - sidehack has put 4 Asics instead of two on second stick

Since my last post I decided to lower the voltage on the second stick to the same level as the first one and got this Cheesy
Code:

Tried switching ports. It's the same stick, 10010253, every time. What I did not try, yet, is to switch cables (I use Y-cables, same ones I used with Compacs, just to be sure they're ok). I read in one of the threads that Pluggable has three bucks (for ports 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6-7) so I plugged data+power cables ports 1 and 3 (to make sure sticks are on different power lines) and power only ends are in ports 5 and 7 (on the third power line).

I guess there's no point in retrying via software when we see "Found 0 chip(s) on GSD 0".
Let me see if I can get it to just display "OFF" to signal folks to unplug, adjust voltage, and plug it back in.

Hm, I'd be careful with that. I've seen, more than once, Found 0 chip(s) on cgminer startup and after one or two "restarts" stick is detected/reports correctly

The post on Plugable's 7-port charging hub power setup is from me Smiley
Possibly using Y-cables is contributing to the drop out?

I run 2x 2Pacs and 1 Compac on the Plugable 7-port 60w charging hub.
For form-factor and cooling I have a 2Pac on port-2, the other 2Pac on port-4, and the Compac on port-6. Nice and compact for cooling and each stick is on its own buck.

Tried running them without the y-cables, just plugged straight into the hub?

Eh, just remembered one more thing (my last post for today, I promise Smiley )

If you reset the stick after a few rounds of Found 0 chip(s) - Disabling! and it's starts hashing, numbers in the device list and device number reported once a share is found are misaligned. Right now I have GSDs listed as 21 and 22 in device list and shares reported for devices 15 and 16
