ok. so got my first 2pac stick. using a sabrent 4 port 3.0 hub with power supply .
i had the miner working  and it was never at the hash rate of 15gh/s always below and very sparatic like 40mh/s to 3-9gh/s only hit 9 gh/s a few times. my computer had done an update over night while it was mining... well long story short it quit working... did i do some thing on my end? is my hub not strong enough or maybe its over powered? now cgminer displays gsd 0: found 7:3
gsd 0: tx:4 00 00 11
gsd 0: rx bytes(0):
device serial gs- 10016325 not responding
any helpful tips or did i break it lol
Oh just for the record.... on slushpool mining with the single 2pac i found 161k shares... have not seen anyone above or near that... what you think? lol
windows 7 ck built cgminer
no idea how to write code

Try stopping cgminer, unplug/plug the 2pac, then start cgminer again.

161k shares is no big deal. Shares are not blocks. My Compaq (single BM1384) has over 1 million shares right now since the last reboot. It also has just north of 8.8 million shares at pool.ckpool.org. See the link in my sig.

the hub you are using is very weak, this is taken from their website;

For a stable connection, the devices connected to the 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub must not exceed a combined current of 5 volts 900 mAh. External hard-drives should be connected to an external power source. This 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub will not charge an iPad (it will only sync).

https://www.sabrent.com/product/HB-UM43/4-port-usb-3-0-hub-power-switches/#description

try changing the frequency to a lower value so it does not use so much power, run it at 100mh

Sounds like some of the problems I was having just a few days ago setting mine up for the first time. I ordered this based on advice on the previous page-

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L2LK164/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Should be able to run 3-4 sticks on it plus one on the cheap POS I currently have (max one @125)

How would I setup the Y cables with my two hubs should I wish to overclock? I know it's a stupid question, but for some reason I'm not quite picturing how it goes together in my head.

Y cables: you connect  the top side of the Y to two slots on the hub, then connect the third to your stick, which would be getting double the power (if needed).

You'll have to order the correct Y-s, making sure that they fit on one side into the hub and another into a stick (M-F), not F-F or M-M.
if there are no right y-s available, then there are always m-f usb adapters.

Good mining!

I have been running 2 2PAC for 3 days on my 2.0 USB Hub with a fan.

I haven't been able to babysitting them as they are located at my work.

When I started it looked as they where running. No hardware failure (HW), I guess HW is hardware failure, right?
I just ran the CGMiner with the --gekko-2pac-freq 200 on my 2PAC out of the box.

Now 3 days after it looks like this:

I can see I have a lot of HW failures.
Is this because it does not get the power it should have?

Hey Guys,

after reading the thread I got 3 2pac´s. The first setting was a old netbook with a hub, but only 2 miner get stable all the time.

So I start to mod the sticks and the setup.

First a change the heatsink with one from a high power LED and connect it together.

https://picload.org/view/drorlgaa/mod_1.jpg.html , https://picload.org/view/drorlgal/mod_2.jpg.html , https://picload.org/view/drorlgai/mod_3.jpg.html

After this I installed Minera on a Raspberrry Pi 3, connect it to a powered 3.0 USB hub. But no normal mining was possible, the power wasn´t enough.

So i connected to every miner a 3.0 USB y-cable and powered it with a 20A switching power supply. A 12cm 12V fan is responsible for the cooling.

https://picload.org/view/drorlgaw/mod_4.jpg.html

Now, the miner are on standard 300Mhz and it works...

Try turning up your ASIC voltage. The pot is located on the backside of the stick in the right bottom corner right next to the USB port. Try turning it clockwise until the flat side is at 3 o´clock. If you are still getting HW errors turn it further until there are no HW errors anymore.

I'm trying to configure the 2pac on a raspberry pi but after I finish entering the code, the readout says there are no gekko devices enabled.  What am I missing here?

Do you use cgminer?
Did you compile it yourself exactly like described in post #1?
What operating system do you use?

Please search on Youtube "minera and gekkoscience" and you will find a very good description...

Well my solution at the end was to go over VPN.  I can only guess as to why. Somewhere in the loop between my host and the pool the traffic was being filtered. WTF!!!

Did you remember to input "--enable-gekko". I just got my Pi setup w/Raspian and the instructions on page one worked like a charm. I've heard/seen things about using Minera, there are instructions on page 4 of this thread and some youtube videos on how to get it going if that's your thing. No idea if anyone has tried it recently to confirm it works still...

Doesn't that mean you're not in the right directory? ./cgminer means you need cgminer in the current directory.

try this to make sure you are in the right directory-
cd git/vthoang/cgminer
./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://pool.ckpool.org:3333 -u YOURWALLETID -p x --suggest-diff 32

I'm assuming of course you set everything as per page 1. If so, that should do the trick I would think. If you give the command to run cgminer without being in the correct directory, it won't work.

I rebuilt the controller for my 2Pac's and now a strange issue I've never had before. This is really probably more an Ubuntu 14.04 question.

Does anyone know why a screen session would show active in "ps -aux",  but not be listed with "screen -ls" (sudo and su don't work either)? The miners are connected to the pool and running but I can't connect to the screen session.
If I run the same startup script after boot manually everything works as expected. I use the same boot process on all my miners and have never seen this issue before, but is has been a while since I rebuilt one.
