I went out there, it was horrible

I spent almost my whole first 3 years in the forum from early 2014 to early 2017 almost exclusively involved in this thread, and then the next year, I ventured out about 10% of the time into other parts of the forum.

I suppose currently, i am venturing out to other parts of the forum in the 10% to 20% arena.

This thread does have links to almost anything that you would want in bitcoinlandia, and seems that we have purged out a vast majority of the dumbasses, alt coin pumpers and bitcoin FUD spreaders... save a few that are already largely known herein who are active in this thread.

^^
Damn LFC you made me just look back to my first POST in here, that looks ugly Roll Eyes

Decided to dig mine up

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=199141.msg4335360#msg4335360

Looks like I was mining shitcoins to start my BTC stash building.
I ended up with 4 rigs in the end and sold them off about 6 months later having made a small but tidy stash and recouped about half of my investment in the hardware but had already amassed enough BTC to easily make up the difference.
The rest is history.
Gonna start digging around on some early posts of other WO hodlers for a laugh.

Hah, I remember those shitcoins and the giftcoin dev trying to dump the premine. Lol

Here's mine.

Hi all,

Dammit forgot Tab throws me to next control so rather than indenting this line I just posted a one line "Hi all"! DOH! Looks like my first post will be an edit! Cheesy

First off Back when Bitcoin started I was a heavy F@H contributor and was on OCN working to World domination (Which we accomplished!) But in retrospect wasting all those thousands on electric and seeing no discernible impact I regret not Starting this back then. Well better late than never I guess. I tried to jump on the Doge bandwagon but Only accomplished 20k so far and it looks dead now for the returns.

I am currently trying Earthcoin that just launched but have no hope for it. I'll try to get a few thousand and stash it.

From what I can gather the best method to make BTC atm is to use a Multipool. As soon as I get a few grand Earthcoin I will switch to that unless someone helps a n00b out and explains why This is a wrong move. I have been reading for a week or so and have to say the amount of info is completely overwhelming. It took me 2 days to get my card crunching at a respectable hash. I am using a 7870XT which is the cut down Tahiti with 1536 shaders. I'm doing about 400Kh/s on it, If anyone is running one of these and can help me squeeze more out of it I will be grateful and throw some of my hard earned coins your way.

Also for some reason after a day of crunching my system is becoming very unresponsive at int 13 (optimal so far) where as it was perfectly fine previously. I use a second card for htpc on this system but I don't think that has any bearing on this issue. I have to lower the INT to 10 for my system to become fluid again but that drops my hash in half.

OK well thats my intro so hopefully some of you guys are bored enough to respond.

BTW, tysat Love GB myself! They're my second team after the Pats. Hope Rogers and Cobbs get back in time!

@gentlemand, good one!

That's impressively erudite. I'll guess the average first post here is a failed attempt to get a loan with no collateral or 'is there being free moneys bitcoin?'

Looks like getting to $6000 will be harder then most thought. Undecided
Was getting to $5800 way too fast so some pull back was bound to happen.

If on Monday we crash from 6000 to 5600 I'll be pretty devastated.

Crashed to 5600 a bit early, I see...

Yeah...Stanford pointsfucking the 4P rigs and the antics of 7im drove off a lot of our heavy D, scattered to the winds now, we only rank #8 on F@H, #30 on WCG.

There was a time though, EVGA couldn't even bribe enough users to beat the mighty [H]orde.

so its "share 1st post day?"

ok heres mine

Can anyone explain CUDA to me?  From what I gather its just a seperate way of computing data for nvidia cards...but do I need to "activate" it everytime I use it or is it an "install and be lazy" solution?

CUDA is nvidias language for talking to its cards when you want the card to crunch data (as opposed to displaying a scene in a video game). basically its a set of rules on how to get data to the card, what to do with it, and how to get it out.

its a "install and forget" deal.

I havn't looked at the stats  in years and just checked and DAMN your right you guys have been decimated. Yeah they screwed the points system right up with GPU's, N00bs would catch up in a few months with a new gpu, it was a real joke. But I folded from 2000-2006 or so Anon with 6 rigs before joining a team. I've had alot of family die from cancer and thats all I could really do about it.

I remember when EVGA was bribing and I guess now there are 2 F@H coins for it?

You forgot to mention it was proprietary. Tongue

It's open now but no-one uses it anymore.

I know it is really about the science, but guys had tens of thousands of dollars tied up in those big AMD 4Ps and Stanford fucked them just as other opportunities to do science were coming on the scene.  Then 7im started deleting people's posts and threads on the F@H forum.  Some pretty serious personal farms found new places to contribute and we just never coalesced around a single project the way we had around F@H.

I should dig out the T shirt and cry a little.

Anyone heard of this $USD altcoin? From what I understand: is pre-mined, emission schedule secretly determined, neither quantity outstanding nor authenticity can be cryptographically proven & most abominable cannot directly hodl private keys. Is @federalreserve altcoin a scam? 🧐

I was also into SETI and F@H. Weird how a lot of us here were into a form of distributed computing. We are still doing it but now getting paid for our efforts!
