According to the reddit comments, this isn't legit. Yea, but this kind of solution makes perfect sense considering Gox's history.

Bitcoin code is not set in stone. Basically whatever the majority of miners uses as a protocol is bitcoin.
It feels like it's set in stone, because there are no development or even open discussions on important aspects, like the one I brought forward in my previous post. It's ignored and everyone are just enjoying getting rich with abusing the hype. Litecoin and other altcoins also use the "bitcoin protocol", and because of that, they are suffering from the same problems. If there were some responsible people around, then someone would say: "Hey, stop this wasteful nonsense! let's figure it out how to build a network that actually makes sense!". As long as I am getting rich, the protocol is correct.

It is pretty cool if you just click through the random pages of this thread... back at page 1 we were at like $69, fast forward to now we have passed 1k, and have settled down in the $600s...that is a wild ride over less than a year...

Gox is down.
Mark carrying the servers to his new office. I giggled. Probably down to put the announcement in the middle of the page: WITHDRAWALS ARE HEREBY OPEN.

Not for me - but I just can't see a fix being ready today - or even next week. Andreas said 'four weeks' in his opinion - who knows...?

Thanks to all the "Voltaires" who asked me to continue posting even though they disagree with my views.
I would like to reply to everybody who posted comments on my posts, positive or negative; but there have been too many of them, and besides it would be irritating for many of you, boring for many others. Again, that is not why I am reading and posting to this forum.
Let me just emphasize that I distinguish "promoting the bitcoin project" from "convincing people to invest in bitcoin".
I am afraid that this note is too long already. Thanks for your attention. I sincerely wish you all the best.
