The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

Asking some math wiz here....

What's the calculation for the mean max diff that statistically can be achieved in a 24hr day if say I have a system that is:

20TH
200TH
2PH

I know that it's all variance and it can go to the tails but what is the statistical norm?

And further to that based on that value, what's the max mean diff that can be achieved in a 30 day month?

I know it's out there somewhere but I can't be sure of the answer for some reason. Help will be greatly appreciated!

Pool Hash rate = 7000 TH/s
128% probability to win a block in 1 month
Alas these are wrong. There is no such thing as 100% probability with mining which is a stochastic process. It keeps approaching 100% but never gets there.

Maybe better to say

Your Hash rate = 13 TH/s -> If you have neutral luck you will mine 1 block in 35,55 years
Pool Hash rate = 7000 TH/s -> Having neutral luck 1 block will be mined in 24 days (or 1.28 blocks in 1 month, even it is imposible to mine 0,28 blocks)

Definetively, 128% luck doesn't make any sense
128% luck would make sense. Just not 128% probability, right?

I think Luck and Probability mean exactly the same thing.

If we stay at 7ph and the diff stays flat  the odds are we need to make 128 blocks in 100 months.

If we did that we would have 100% of what we should have this 100% luck .

If we do 192 we would have really good luck since our return is far higher then normal.

If we do 64 we would have really bad luck since our return is far lower then normal.

Of course we do not stay at 7ph  and diff does not stay flat which has nothing to do with the statement but causes difficulty in understanding projections into the future.

No, when we cross 5x network diff in herp, ie about 10 quadrillion shares. However the dormant miners' share of the herp is lessening as time progresses so it's not like they're entitled to the same payout with each subsequent block.

I just want to make sure I understand this. Our current herp is about 10 trillion shares and I'm guessing it drops back to 0 after each block that we find. So in order to drop the dormant miners, we need cross 10 quadrillion shares before we find our next block?

I should have said trillion. We don't drop to zero, it levels off and starts biasing towards the new shares so the old miners slowly decrease in value.

I've spent this evening making a very basic app to view your user mining details on android for personal use.

I've not added individual miners yet and it is in the same format as the old web version. I'll make it look pretty with graphs and other things in the future but just thought that i would share it for those who want to use it.

You just enter your wallet address and it gets the details, refreshing every 5 seconds or on click. Just gets the data from the webpage and puts it in an app form basically Smiley

Link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.BadgerHobbs.CKPoolMonitor&rdid=com.BadgerHobbs.CKPoolMonitor&pli=1

If you can add graphs for individual workers that would be fantastic. Right now, it's nothing above what we can get from just entering link with our address on the website. So I will patiently wait for progress.

I like the new ckpool website but the only thing I don't see there is my postponed number... I don't see it in the user section anymore. Any way to add that in or am I not looking in the right spot.

It can probably be added. All the old direct links still work by the way.

I'm out/ off this pool sorry guys

but I got fucked very bad by PPLNS at Kano and can't risk the variance from tiny pools.

So long. Just remember you'll get a payout when we next get a block anyway.

All I can say is that, a year ago, I tried saying that was going to happen when people were saying they wanted that pool to stay small. But, I'm just an asshole, what do I know?  Roll Eyes

Ironic, since it's the miners that demanded PPLNS type payout systems.

ok, im going to ask a stupid question... i was looking at how payouts work and i dont understand something, im probably seeing it wrong or im just not as knowledgeable as the rest of you guys are but it says that the top 100 miners plus an additional 50 get paid out when a block is found

"Each time a block is solved, the top 100 miners will receive a payout while 50 of the remaining smaller miners will receive a payout. Rewards will alternate between the smaller miners according to who has waited the longest for a payout. Rewards accumulate from blocks worked on even if miners are not scheduled for a payout with that block."

looking at the active miners list on the new website i am sitting at around the high 30's out of top 100 and i have 2 postponed so far and im not currently on the current payout list. did i miss something or am i overlooking something?

You won't be added to the payout queue before a block has been mined...

but my worker isnt in the "work" section, so this current block = no payout just like the last 2.

Sorry, didn't notice you've mined previous rounds. Not sure what could be the cause then.

If your address is not listed in http://ckpool.org/pool/pool.work, then you haven't submitted any shares to this pool.

 "1MEo4aCnSbKA5FaBSVCEPQQYpxRr9MZ4be": 1813018012.14,

sorry, by "work" i was refering to the section from the new website which only shows the workers getting a payout if a block is found
my worker does show up in the user and active miner sections

"1MEo4aCnSbKA5FaBSVCEPQQYpxRr9MZ4be": 1813018012.14....
that's 111 down the postponed list

If you click on the pool work link http://ckpool.org/pool/pool.work you will see who's scheduled to receive a reward on the next block find under "payouts". If you're in the "postponed" list that means you haven't contributed enough hashrate yet to receive a payout and will be postponed. As you contribute hashrate you can move up into the payout list if a block hasn't yet been found if your hashrate is significant enough. That work page is created dynamically every minute and changes continuously and is an estimate of payout should a block be found this instant.

If you have to ask "why?", you wouldn`t understand my answer.
