so the PayPal stuff didn't work. I ended up paying via BTC.

I tried making the url HTTPS but then some other web site showed up at your address. Not to mention that I had to add a security exception since the certificate didn't match.

I had turned it on briefly for a customer to test but it didn't go well. Have turned it off again. I want to get it sorted out but for the mean time if not too many bombard me I can probably enter orders manually and send a PP invoice.

Ya, this OpenBitcoinStore thing isn't working well for me. It doesn't have SSL support, and as you saw it seems the shared IP is going to cause issues with site conflicts. So I'm going to have to move everything to my own server for SSL to work. Could also be related to why paypal doesn't work - maybe it needs to talk to an SSL page to hand off the details etc. They claimed it was a one-click deploy but it's been kind of useless as I've spent considerable hours trying to get things arranged and functioning in a way that ANY web store would need. I should have just started on my own server to begin with but I thought this sounded like a quick way to get it up for people. No such luck.

Anyway, thanks everyone for the patience. It'll get worked out.

Oh, yes I know that - the question is why don't the guys running OpenBitcoinStore? Who seem to be running bitcoinpresscenter.org on the same IP as my store, and probably dozens of other ones, and yet say they offer a ready to use store, which apparently cannot handle Paypal due to SSL issues, maybe. I've done several full osCommerce and other stores before on my own servers with multiple IPs, but geez, I thought this would be an nice quick way to avoid all that.

I've enabled a "Paypal by Manual Invoice" payment method now.

This is actually "By Check" in the system, but allows me to get the order on hold, and then send you a manual invoice on Paypal. Until I can get proper integration I hope this will suffice. It will just be a bit slower to finalize payment but you get your order into the queue just as quick.

Thanks for setting this up. Is there any chance you could put together an option for a K1 or K16 board with parts. I am guessing that there will be a lot of people interested in something like that as it would bring down the total cost.

I want to do that, and with an assembly guide. The problem is sourcing parts. I'd have to take pre-orders and then use that to do a big order, but at this time some items are completely sold out. I feel uneasy taking money not knowing if I can actually deliver kits for who know show long.

Afaik paypal only hands off IPN information to a secure web page, so yeah SSL is required for that.

Seperate IP is not required for an SSL cert to work. It only needs it's own domain, so IP sharing webhost isn't a problem in itself. A proper httpd config IS however

Are you going to eventually sell complete boards ready to go with ASICs as well?

I may do a very limited run of K1s but I won't be selling assembled K16s. Due to my workload they may be a bit later than others anyway. But hey, I can autograph them. 

I'm debating how many and at what point I can add it to the offering. I have PICs on the way now, but many other parts I'd have to buy according to how many are ordered. I don't have the deep pockets to just stock up on a few thousand sets of parts speculating on how many will sell.

It should be around 5GH/s.  But that's just the bare PCB -- you have to buy all the parts and a stencil too.  (The stencil is more than the pcb).

I understand the realities of someone trying to source parts, especially in quantity to make kits and I understand you're not a warehouse.
I would gladly send the BTC and wait for your kits to come in.

when they do come in, I'd be taking a lot of time to assemble them myself anyway since it's been years since I've actually soldered anything serious. If I was in a hurry I'd let one of the group buys assembly houses take care of everything for me. Right now I'm on Steamboat's groupbuy and let his guys put it all together.
But the next batch I'd like to do myself as there will be less rush.
