https://www.deepdotweb.com/2016/01/23/bitcoin-playing-an-increased-role-in-crime-europol-says/

Would you believe that the existence of bitcoin has increased the number of criminality in  some countries in the world. This is the issue that was being thrown by the EuroPol and the UK Metropolitan Police. According to them bitcoin has played a huge role on the increasing criminality in their area. They added that a huge number of cybercriminals were using bitcoins in their activities.

This just shows that as bitcoin develops both advantages and disadvantages will tag along.

Good read somehow mate. I would say that maybe there is. One of Bitcoin's, or cryptocurrency's features is its privacy and lack of paper trail when it comes to transactions, and although its price point always has uncertainties and changes at moment's notice, I still feel that some shady people and organization may use it in their advantage just to get be able to transact and do business with less hiding. I am not saying that cryptocurrency transactions are what fuels increased criminality, but I am saying that since bad guys would do any measure to keep ahead, it's not a surprise anymore if they will use this market too.

It is true that bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies out tgere are sometimes used for criminal activities because if the anonymity feature it provides its users as well as its value in the market, but so is conventional currency. We can't say without further investigations that it is indeed cryotocurrencies that are causing the sudden rise in the amount of criminality.

When police can't handle something they used to blame something and bitcoin is the best target. Criminals using fiat money too but nobody cares about it. Grin

Criminals use bitcoins for their bad intentions, which is a concern in the recent past, but I think there are just a few minor disadvantages that bitcoin brings to life just as if it were not with the bitcoin the criminals will also use other forms to perform their misconduct.

I do not think that bitcoin has increased crime but has replaced the use of cash in certain criminal activities making them easier.

It will be more correct - did not replace, but expanded possibilities of receiving profit in the illegal way with a bigger level of anonymity.

The presence of bitcoin certainly gives freedom to anyone to use bitcoin, even for criminal activities and transactions, but I think this is not a bitcoin error but from people who use bitcoin.

Actually by using Bitcoin then some crime can be reduced, cash will continue to be the preferred medium for criminal activity as it is more difficult to trace. All Bitcoin transactions are recorded and publicly viewable. Only the identity of transactions that can not be seen but still can be obtained with little effort.

As i see this topic, i wonder what does criminals do to be involve in bitcoin. I think criminals using bitcoin isn't possible because bitcoin has its very own security, so how would that criminals can get into bitcoin? That ain't east just to think of.

Bitcoin is a freely currency that anyone can invest and use so even the criminals can use it freely. Bitcoin can use on illegal businesses and other stuffs. It depends on how the people will use bitcoin. Bitcoin is just like an innocent kid.

Yes, there are a lot of criminals using bitcoin as money for crime. This will increase the probability that the police will solve the case. Some governments don't accept bitcoin. But I think very little bitcoin is used for crime.

This is just an excuse governments use to ban cryptos. Maybe Bitcoin transactions are untrassable and criminal uses it to pay for their crimes but thats not Bitcoin problem. Ask your self: how criminals managed their activities before the shown of Bitcoin?
Should we stop using bitcoin just because some people use it to do bad things?

I also once read a news about the use of the blockchain as a medium of financing of terrorism. They choose the blockchain, because the blockchain can not be controlled by the government.

I think they're using the anonymous feature of Bitcoin to make some transactions that supports those terrorism but that problem isn't clear yet, maybe yes but maybe no it's not true.
Noone can confirm that fact unless the insiders.

A lot of people talking about criminality involved in BTC,
but it's wrong to think in that way.
Bitcoin changed tendencies, but everyone uses it in their own responsibility and way.
The same with Fiat money, it circulating not only in clean hands.
