The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

whoops that should be .3%

I get about 0.32% on another pool, would be lower if it wasn't for the stales I caused while playing around with settings in the beginning. On yet another pool, I regularly see about 1~2% stales but that might be because the card used for that is heavily overclocked.

So I think it might have to do with how overclocked is the card, how the pool is setup and maybe the capacity of the server to deal with increasing connections?

I have run into the hitch that I can't change my wallet address on the web page anymore. It gives me an error message that it must be 34 characters long. When I check it and double check it, it is 34 characters.

Hmm. Are you using the "copy to clipboard" button in the bitcoin program and pasting it in? If you are manually copying it, maybe you get some "invisible" characters in there.

I will look into it, but the 34 character check really is just a check for 34 chars. There could of course be a bug there though.

Until you get the correct address in there, you can set the minimum payout threshold high if you want to make sure there are no payouts to the old address.

whoops that should be .3%

I think the highest stales I have seen in the pool so far is 0.05%. And the server load is still low, so it's not that.

But the pool backend is experiencing a software malfunction every 10-30 minutes, which is causing long polling connections to be reset. When your long poll is disconnected for a second it can cause a stale or two. I will work to fix this ASAP. At least the pool is still running, and it doesn't seem to be causing that many stales - it's still below most pools I think.

You can call the validateaddress command to the bitcoind daemon for validate address.

Quote
$addressValidation = $bitcoin->validateaddress('address');

if($addressValidation['isvalid'] == 1) {
    echo 'Ok!';
}

No need to check the lenght and other stuff. Grin

Yeah, I noticed that after I wrote the code that simply checks the length. So it's on my TODO list - it's just a veeeery long list. Wink

It's fantastic to see the pool owner here taking feedback. I just copied my real wallet address from another site and it worked for me, so there was something wrong with copying the address directly from the OSX Bitcoin app.

Nice - good you got it working Smiley

Server pool bug fixed and now running stable. Should be back to lower stales. Smiley

I think 0.3% is too high. And I think maybe you got it because of the pool backend bug today that caused instability with long polling.

I hope your stales stay lower now that the bug is fixed.

Just got the first stale since I reset it today... not bad considering that's over 1000 accepted.

Yep. We have CPU-miners and multi-GPU-miners. We have 24/7 miners, and miners who mine once a week. Just have fun and mine whichever way you want. Smiley

idk I think I could top that =), my XFX Ref 5870 is pretty toasty with its OC ability.

Although newer GPU's have better heatsinks that are quieter and overall perform better, under mining conditions I have a 5870 CF, one Gigabyte OC'd edition with twin fan design, cools great sure, but at 100% fan mining still hits 86C, So overclocking isn't an option.

Where my XFX reference is a ridiculous amount louder at even 45% fan vs the 100% fan, but at 50% fan it says at 82C.  100% fan keeps core temps at a chilly 62C... so.... ya....... Alot of OC ability there.  I'll OC it up and see if it'll perform for me tonight.

DrHaribo, any chance of adding current Mhps for each worker and a total on the bitminter account info page?
