"When it's open, you assist the network."

I just set up the app 1 week ago and reinstalled it again yesterday, but this time correctly. That's why I'm asking you, "how does anyones personal computer help assist the network by running the app ?"

How does that work ?

For one, you add to the list of clients that provide confirmations to the network.

I have also been told that fees are distributed to open clients, but I've never seen a fee deposit in my client.

I keep mine open 24/7. It doesn't eat up too much system resources. If it does, maybe you need more RAM.

I don't believe clients get fees from transactions...you might be thinking of a seed node. That's a client on a computer somewhere that has its port 52333 open on the firewall so it can accept incoming connections. There's a maintenance bounty of 0.2 shares/mo if you run one....could that be what you mean?

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Yes. But also my understanding that all open clients assist the network in confirmations.

A question about collated materials:
something like "van fraassen's view on relational quantum mechanics" which comments, as an academic paper, an article by van fraassen, count as collated? i don't think so.
and something like "Critic review on surnames based social mobility's analysis" which critically reviews a recent paper/book?
Even van fraassen's article is entitled" rovelli's world" and discusses previous articles by Rovelli.
Definitely, a review is "collated"?  Huh
Thanks for answering.

Both of these are really dependent upon how unique they are. The issue we've run into in the past is people trying to basically copy-and-paste articles/books, add in a few comments here and there, and pass it off as being "original," by acting like their minor changes (sometimes being only a few percent of the overall piece of work) make it completely theirs.

The collation is something that really needs to be handled on a case-by-case basis. If you have questions, feel free to toss me a PM. I can also look over any articles and let you know if they should be under collated or original.

great, so basically an ordinary article's/ book's review, as we can find on scientific journals would count as original? it's not a copy and paste at all. Where a rewriting of, say, a wikipedia article, with a loto of copy and paste and some value added as collated?

Generally speaking, that should be correct. When in doubt, run it by me.

Earning Devcoins by writing wiki articles is a good idea. But if no of the contacted admins are responding to my pms to setup an account for me, it is not possible to write anything. You guys should find a new and easier way to allow people adding articles to the wiki.

Another animation/infographic. Credit to marticps who did a big chunk of it and let me have a go at continuing what he started. Original voiceover plans haven’t come together and I’m out of spare time, so edited like this instead.

The video is great.

I see the Marketing Shares have dropped from 36 people in Round 32 to 19 people in Round 33. I'm not on the list anymore (user - fheenix) although I have 2 sites promoting devcoin and a crypto store. Can some one check that out please?

Well done, really good job!

I don't know if there could be a better choice in music though, it's a bit...space cadet. Drums are in right now.

Weisoq, really nice job you did Cheesy

It's a pity finally there's no voiceover, but I like the final video. Why don't you appear at the credits too?

Cheers

I have personally probably signed up about 60 people in the last 2 months... been getting a LOT of requests.  There are a lot of new users and it will take some time for all emails to be processed.  I should also say that cryptocurrencies are not the sole thing people tend to do.  I myself hold down another 3 jobs (1 normal 9-5) and I try to come on the forum every day or every other day, but life does throw a spanner in the works every now and again.

If you still have heard nothing in a week then why not try sending a PM again and send it to me as well and I can sign you up.

This would really help a lot. I have no way of knowing if anything I am doing is producing page views. Daily would be really helpful. Some kind of rolling average would be really helpful, too.

I can not find my Devcoin Wallet.Dat file to backup on my USB

Is there any other way i can find the Dat file & back up my wallet?

If on Windows go to C Drive > Users > YourName >AppData > Roaming > Devcoin and copy your wallet.dat file to a safe location.

If you have Windows 8, press the button lower left corner and type %AppData% into the search box, it will take you to the AppData folder and navigate as above to locate your wallet.dat file.

You have to set up your user page first - go to http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=wiki:user:your_user_name  <--insert your user name here

On the top of the page, click on "Create this page"

In your text box, place this below (choose which applies)
