By the exchange values quoted (0.3 LTC / .001 BTC), the current block payout and the target time of 1 minute the Prime coin mining network would be generating nearly $800 an hour if it were at the 1 minute target (it's above that now but coming down).  This would place Prime coin 3rd in cumulative mining rate (again assuming target rates) at around 1/4th the total of LTC and about twice that of FTC.  

Market cap would be right around 100K USD which would be 5th just ahead of NovaCoin and behind PPC, an impressive result for day 3 of a new coin in this era of crappy clones its good to see something innovative get recognition.

The primespersec measure is for fun only, it does not necessarily reflect true mining performance. The only accurate measure is block rate, that is, given a fixed difficulty how fast can you generate blocks. To measure this one can use a lower difficulty than the network difficulty.

Finding new prime numbers is easy.
Just cobble together a number of random bits and make an integer out of them, test whether it's prime, if not, repeat, otherwise you're done.

Primecoin does essentially that with some rules that make it more interesting. One is that the prime must be the start of a Cunningham chain whose length is at least the integral part of the difficulty (i.e. 7 at the moment, there's an additional rule which covers the fractional part of the difficulty). Another is that the starting value must be related to the hash of the block being mined (which in turn includes the hash of the previous block) so that block n+1 only can be started to be mined after block n (and its hash) is known.

So the Primecoin blockchain is a table of more or less randomly picked primes that start Cunningham chains. The individual primes are not really exciting, but they might be used as statistical data for research purposes. However, I think that Cunningham chains can be found easily if you ignore the hash restriction necessary for blockchain integrity, so any researcher who needs such chains can generate them on his own.

Okay, can we get instruction on how to extract coin from our DigitalOcean droplet.  It has been so long since I have had to do console/coding like this .

Sure. I do it this way:

• ssh into remote instance
• ./primecoind listtransactions –> copy the address mentioned in the output at "address"
• ./primecoind dumpprivkey {{paste copied address here}} –> copy the private key returned
• on your local computer holding the "master wallet" -> ./primecoind importprivkey {{paste copied private key here}}
• now address holding the minted coins appears in your local wallet

No need to send coins over the blockchain this way, immature coins can be imported immediately.

I understand you will get the minted (even immature) coins from the remote wallet, but since you dumped the private key remotely, will you be able to get any new coin?

Yes, you will. dumpprivkey command just outputs a private key to console. It does not alter or remove that key from wallet in any way.

And will a new private key/public key generated in the remote wallet?

Unless you find a new block, no. When you find a new block it will and the coins minted then will be credited to that newly generated address again. Then you have to repeat the whole procedure again.

I only did the manipulation once, but all my new coin mined on the other pc are on my master wallet.

Any consolation, it's just plummeted to 95 pps. Very hard to be sure if a genuine improvement or not. Only time will tell.

yeah this coin has definately captured the miners imagination.  Its got suspense and solo mining! not to mention its a new algorhythm which is more than most of these johnnycomelatelycoins can say.  I found 3 blocks so far and 1 is already mature omg!  haven't felt that way since solo mining litecoins back in the day.  its nice to see someone go the opposite of the trend and try to make a coin that is MORE rare.   is there any evidence as to whether optimization helps at all? anyway im going to get my rigs cpus mining this tonight.  It really is a breath of fresh air.  I didn't get into mining cryptocoins because i thought i was going to get rich, i got into mining crypto coins because ITS FUN!   glad to see a coin that reminded me.

Following command sequence (pipe separated) will prepare import commands. Run commands at slave node, import.sh file will be created. Run import.sh at master node to update your master wallet.
