I do agree, it is quite worrying how most knc got it tested and all in 1/2 days and hashfast is behind schedule already, and has taken 10 days with minimal updates.

Yes. It's clear that knc set the bar for truthiness in their advertising and speed of execution.

It also appears that some testing that could have been done a lot earlier on the PCB at hashfast was put off until they had the chip in hand (or they weren't completed until recently).

A non authoritative source on Twitter was claiming shipping will have started by the 20th. Seems to have gone missing now.  Maybe it was pulled.

So, during the last 18 difficulty increases, that took a total of 185 days, the avg. difficulty increase was 27%.
The avg monthly increase was 81%.
I find it stupid to assume that this trend will go to our favour when calculating our roi, so i will just use it as it is.

The BJ we will receive by the end of the month will get us 8 BTC each in an year. Power costs are not considered. I also assume that we start mining at the first day of Jan.
http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/019aee662b

That's, exactly as i predicted, less than 1/5th of our initial investment. Then comes the MPP. I'm optimist today and i assume that we are mining with it the first day of March. The total return of the MPP (fully triggered) would be around 9 BTC.
http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/a/4156b31fef

9 + 8 = 17 BTC out of the 40/50 we spent.

As you can see, their bs costed us a lot. But don't worry, we will pay them back.

I seriously question why you didn't know this almost 3 or 4 months ago.

A simple spreadsheet and some math would have given you a pretty good idea of your odds. The odds were never in your favor to begin with. (At least not BTC wise)

Alot of the companies have been failing to lower their prices in line with a profitable scenario's for their miners. Buying hardware with a huge burden of cost is....not very smart.

I think the answer will be "if it had delivered in October" at that time you could mine 1 BTC per day with 500GH

That's the point, yes. I would have never ordered if i had the tiniest doubt that they would have been late. My choice at the time was between HF, BF and KNC.
However, their BS made me order with the biggest scumbag company of them all.

The board doesn't even have all of the parts on it.  No way for it to talk to the outside world (no USB connector, to start with the obvious)

Good catch, anyone can read the same chip that is above so that we know what it is for?
Anyway my guess is that the USB connectors are the one among those two chips (the on that is there and the missing one), 2 usb connectors for chaining the devices together. No idea of why they didn't soldered a connector there, tough...

Did you run the numbers for any scenario's where the company did not ship their first product @ 28nm on time?

If so, what was an acceptable delay? (Hope it wasn't zero)

I understand you bet on this horse, I understand you probably expected them to be on time with their first product. It sounds though like your expectations might have been too high for this company. Did you plan out any other scenario's in case they didn't hit their first target? (by the way, good work with the lawsuit, I fully support your cause)

Are you asking me if i hedged against my HF investment to make it safer? No, i didn't. I fully believed the statements from HF and Obliquity, i was blinded, and idiot.
An acceptable delay would have been any amount of time, proven that the delay was not created at hoc and it was a real world issue. I wouldn't have even complained in that case, problems happens.

And we all know that it wasn't the case.

The pictured board is clearly not complete.  Its likely there isn't even an asic under that cooler.

Still waiting for final speed and power numbers and confirmation that mass production has started.

Is there a bet yet for how long it takes to get an update that all four dies are powered and hashing at spec, but wall power is higher than anticipated?

That means miners between the 25 to 31 of December. Just to screw batch 1 a little bit more.

As a result: "We got screwed, it's going to be a shitty X-mas"

Yes, I got suckered in too. I usually do the opposite David does but this time I fell for the marketing bla. Perhaps my BTC wallet should have an alcohol lock in it? That would have helped too.

Ah well. Better luck with Bitmine. Oh wait, delayed too. "And a shitty New Year too"

We're batting 0/3 (maybe 0/4 , was bAsic american?)  with american asic companies. Cointerra most likely missing Dec shipments as well. Merry Xmas...

Code:
@HashFast Baby Jet should start shipping on 12/20/2013.  I am 125 in line so my review will be coming soon.

Not sure if he is privy to some information that the rest of us aren't, or if he is just speculating that to be done by 12/31, they need to have started by 12/20.

I'm leaving on the 23 to celebrate it with my family , so I'll get at least another week delay from the others....
Oh , well , at least maybe I'll get a new toy next year ...
