That was taken from www.asic-hardware.com. They are really charging a ton for the units, probably don't even break even and people are really really complaining about the prices.

Am I missing something here?

1 = 64GH/s Bitburner Fury : 925$ delivery early October

3 drillbit systems = 64 GH/s: 1275$ delivery late Oct/begin November

IMO Bitburner Fury is cheaper and much faster delivered.

Your comparing a over clocked product to a stock one.
16 Chip biburner furry stock is 16*2.7 ~44ghash 925EUR= more than 925 when you account for exchange rate. (USD>EUR)
8 chip barntech stock is 8*2.7 ~ 21.6 for 425USD

Right from the site:
"Each board will have a performance of 40 to 80 GH/s (best demonstrated 64 Ghash/s). Tests of a single chip have already given a result of 4 GH/s with 4,5 watt of powerconsumption."

SO worse power consuption, and equal performance to maybe better.

I care about what GH I get for my $

933$ for 64 GH Bitburner Fury early October

1275$ for 64 GH Drillbit late October/begin November

They have also a hashrate protection: If 64 GH is not achieved a discount of 133$ (100€) is given...

Actually its more like this:

$933 for a 16 chip Bitburner Fury in early October at the earliest.

$850 for two 8 chip Barntech Drill Bits in late October to early November at the latest.

It is possible that the Barntech boards will overclock very well also. Just throwing that out there.

Well, they are the same chip so they should overclock. Also, I think they can overclock the 2Ghash/s chips to 2.4 Ghash/s, so that means each board would give around 19Ghash/s.
And like I mentioned adding the external overclock unit. I'm sure we will be able to figure something out as again, we are using the same chips.

Oh I guess I misunderstood VAT, being from the US. So even if you order the Bitburner Fury shipped to the US, you still have to pay VAT?

Well, they do have a 133$ refund gaurantee if they do not reach the 64 GH/s
and VAT is the same for everyone no?

Customers outside Europe, do not have to pay VAT

I compared every aspect of the deal and did not find any better offer, so I ordered some

They don't appear to have their website up yet, at least when I try to go to it from their ad post here. They also have several people complaining in their thread about past dishonesty of their Burnin's reseller. I do not know if these allegations are true, but if so, I would be very weary about dealing with them. Again, no expert on Burnin or CrypX's reliability though.

The price is also higher per a chip and they are not sure if they will all hash at that rate. It is very possible their 4GH/s chip was an outlier and they already know this, as their claims only state they have one chip hashing at that rate. I would be weary of that as well, as even with the guarantee the price is a little high.

They are also stating the most optimistic shipping date possible. Perhaps they will meet it, perhaps not. There is certainly a risk there I would say, although not a huge one. Customs could be a major pain depending on where they ship from.

Hopefully they will work out for you, but its probably not best to come into other seller's threads and try to stir up controversy after already having purchased a competitors offering. I understand if you were just trying to help people get a better deal, although the better deal is arguable.

Have a good day!

Sweet to both of those posts. Can't wait to see your case Spotswood. Hopefully you'll design it with two backplanes and a psu in mind!

EDIT: Is there any hope of have room to mount a raspberry pi in the case? I plan on using one to control my miners with an lcd screen on a cable for instant monitoring. It would be really cool if there was a way to mount both, although if it isn't by design, I'll figure out a way.

If you want, I can prod him later to make sure he sees it. As possibly having to host alot of these this is in my interest Tongue

BTW If anyone here is considering hosting, I will offer a 20% discount for barntech gear. Basically you would be paying me for power and cooling. Barntech will back me up as a stand up guy, and I might be possibly in for 1500 chips just for my own.

I too am interested in the board dimensions of the 8 chip system. I recall barntech stating that it should fit within a 5.25in drive slot.

Here are the dimensions:

102mm x102mm for the 8 board (will fit in a hdd bay)
39mm x52mm for the thumb, more or less. Its an odd shape so not the full rectangle.

Hey guys.

Thanks everyone for putting in your two since regarding BTCguides statements. Some pretty spot on points have been made. Firstly, we're not out to fight or compete with Burnin. If you weigh up all the facts and decide to go with his stuff, that's fine. I'm just happy to see people supporting DIY developers over the big guys.

In terms of comparing the two, i think the appropriate comparison is price per chip, the rest is basically conjecture at this point. We are offering a cheaper price per chip. They are the same chips. In terms of delivery date, we are bound by when we receive the chips, which is unfortunately still not entirely clear, but the official line from Dave is early October. If Burnin has access to earlier delivery chips that is certainly a bonus and the extra few weeks hashing will make a difference for sure. Unfortunately there's nothing i can really do to get the chips any sooner. It does seem like a strectch for Burnin to be promising early October delivery as there doesn't even seem to be a prototype yet.

In terms of the hashing rates, it is well documented that the sweet spot for power efficiency is around 2Ghs on the Bitfury chips. As you push them higher, you will be drawing more power and thus the extras gains in hashing power will be offset or completely cancelled out by the extra power draw. You will also be looking at serious heat and potential short running life for your equipment hammering it that hard. The 4Ghs per second that Burnin has reported is not a regular, reliable, stable rate, it is a one off fluke (please prove me wrong here if am), so it seems to me that guaranteeing 64Ghs for 16 chips (ie 4Ghs each running constantly and stably) is a bit of a stretch. 80Ghs is is 5GHs per chip. No one anywhere has achieved this. 40Ghs is 2.5Ghs per chip. More reasonable but still on the higher end of things. If he has indeed found a way to run these chips hard without getting to crazy power and heat, i'll be very impressed and excited to see it. I hope that is the case, but i doubt it. As for our stuff, we will push them and prod them and tell you what we think is best we can get out of them in terms of GHs and efficiency.

Did anyone else notice that the photos on the Bitburner Fury sales page are actually of 20 chip Avalon boards? There is nothing there visually that has anything to do with Bitfury. That seems pretty odd to me.

Anyway, no intended diss on Burnin. Lets keep the DIY love!
