The majority of fuel is used for pushing air out of the way of your car.

I hope your joking.  The majority of the fuel is used to turn the wheels, not for "pushing the air" out of the way ..
PLEASE tell me you're joking

If you don't believe me maybe you will believe this site about trucks?

http://www.vflap.com/content/HowAerodynamicSavesFuel.html

'The correlation between fuel consumption and travelling speed is similar to the curve of overall drag. At a constant speed of 50 kmph less than 40% of the engine power is used to overcome drag, as against 60% at a speed of 80 kmph.'

That's not what you were saying.  If you seriously think that driving a car up hill is spending most of its fuel to "push air out its way", you should not be allowed to use bitcoins.

No that's not what I said. I said it could (and I bolded the original post too) use less fuel.

I haven't done an equation but into a strong head-wind you will save fuel by slowing down from sppeds of above say 50mph- fact. So if that slowing down saves more fuel than the incline adds to your fuel use through increased rolling resistance then you could save fuel. Ergo if you come to a hill in a strong headwind and slow down you could be using less fuel than at higher speeds on the flat. I said could - it is possible at certain relative speeds.

EDIT - in effect you are saying a car maxing out it's Revs at 180mph on the flat will use less fuel than it does doing 20mph up an incline. Far from true.

But as we have said... mining is a brute force operation. There is no magical way to more efficiently solve the blocks. If there were, we would have successfully partially broken bitcoin. I do, however, remember someone suggesting that Nakamoto may have found a short-cut to mining, but I don't remember where that is.

okay, that's great.. now lets relate that to difficulty.
Difficulty is simply solving x + x = y over and over.
Please explain to me how a higher difficulty can lower hashing resistance the same way the car would?  There are no "software gears" like the car because it is a 0 or 1 operation with no other factors

I'm sorry I'm not a software engineer nor an authority on chips.

Remember I don't want to talk about this competitive advantage on an open forum.

Any more car talk?

Good grief, this thread (and tbh, this entire forum) makes it impossible to find actual updates. Maybe someone should start a self moderated thread? Oh wait.
