According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in
Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it
will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

be careful with such comments! Now LAK will be marked as premined and not fair ;-)
No. People can check Nxt blockchain to see how many existed before official launch date.

YES, the person who does the review should disclose the source of funding.
Exactly - of course we don't want any "under the table" payment for a review - we want a well known and well respected and well "published" academic to properly review Nxt.

ps: any hint what kind of pow you intend to use? (hopefully not sha to exclude asics, better 5.000 small miners than 5 big)
Single SHA256. Edit: It will be mined in browsers by millions website visitors. This paradigm will replace ads on webpages soon. Perhaps we will compete with Google AdSense... buy cheap nxt until you can

So I get LAK if people klick on my Blog?
No. Longer people stay on ur blog, more coins u get. This will probably mean my summaries need to get longer. Either you guys post more here or I'll be forced to start posting this thread completely I would also be VERY interested in this. It's a great way to create an incentive for people to build sites that captivate people instead of just copy/pasting crap all over the interwebs. I would be very surprised if this doesn't get a fair share of attention. It's also marketable in the same way that the mining <> forging pair is. I am very impressed.

But "peer review" and "research" are not the same thing and I think you're a little confused. Or maybe you feed your family with air and sunshine?
You all should agree among yourselves first, what is it exactly you are paying for. As I understand it's neither research, nor peer review. And you can juggle words however you like, it doesn't make it less wrong.

Does LAK increase the value of NXT automatically or is those two completely independant?

Does LAK increase the value of NXT automatically?
It brings more people into Nxt, like hardcore old-school miners.

But what's the point? You can't make a network of browser javascripts. So what's the benefit of mining?

I certainly won't be donating 5 BTC towards anything that isn't 100% transparent and would assume the others pledging BTC would be expecting the same. Perhaps the way it could be best handled is that the funds are donated to a university that employs academics rather than to any particular academic. Universities do most of their research this way so if you think that is wrong then I guess you think most academic work is wrong?

Or just pay per flaw found, like a bounty. Or wait until NXT is popular enough.

A new way to monetize websites. Ok, let me put it another way - what will give LAK value?

Or just pay per flaw found, like a bounty. Or wait until NXT is popular enough. We already have bounties for flaws found - what we are looking for is a respected academic to thoroughly review Nxt and write a paper on it - minor glitches in algos are not really the issue as they can be easily fixed. The real question is whether there is a major flaw in the PoS itself - if it can be *cheated* in any way easier than a >50% on Bitcoin then the whole thing about promoting PoS as >90% safe would be egg on the face of the devs and likely the end of the project. And sure - if someone does this for nothing then that would save me 5 BTC so of course I would also be happy to wait until "Nxt is popular enough" but I do think this could speed up the process.
