Update 3 - Bitcoin Conference Miami

Just had lunch with one of the organizers for the Austin, Texas Bitcoin conference, Jeremy, on March 5-6. Just happened to meet him in the food line and asked if he would like to join me Smiley

http://texasbitcoinconference.com/

We spoke a bit about the conference and they are shooting to be the largest Bitcoin conference in history. I think we need to get a speaker lined up and get them to this conference. Having this contact should help us get our foot in the door and really spread the word about Nxt.

****Action Item****

If I could get the communities help in finding a speaker to represent us at this conference, I will make contact with Jeremy to see if we can get a spot.

Thanks again for everyone's help and will keep updating with more news as it happens!

I think joefox might be our most lucid speaker. He isn't one of the developers, but he understands a heck of a lot and knows just about everything that's going on. I think it would be better to have a gifted speaker like him who can communicate the vision in words everyone can understand than a talented developer who can answer all the toughest technical questions, but in a way that loses 90% of the listeners.

If one can not confer upon another a right which he does not himself first possess, by what means does the state derive the right to engage in behaviors from which the public is prohibited?

Update 4 - Bitcoin Conference Miami

I had a chance to speak to Paul over at Cryptsy. Paul seemed to be very familiar with Nxt and is interested in integrating. This is not a confirmation but as close a possible. I understand their concerns, we need our development team to help show them the way ASAP.

** Action **

We need to match up CfB with Paul to handle any technical issues. I have Paul's info, I will match up our development team to push this forward. Fantastic job to the community for making them well aware of who we are!

As a side note, talked to a LOT of people today about Nxt. There's a whisper about us at the conference, that's a fact.

Will add further updates later Smiley

hoi nexern, I'm pretty sure that they are not, because they are not in the API as of now. I have a few ideas there myself. let us keep nagging CFB on the API2 thread - I think it's better over there, because here it's mostly drowning anyway ... going to bed now, 'night !

nxtion.com - Poll results

The point "Encrypted messages" has the most votes until now. So I decided to implement the it.

http://nxt777.com/crypt.php

Here you will see the encryption demo. I will use AES 128. This should be save for daily things.

It's not finished NOW! Shouldn't work correctly.

ANNOUNCEMENT  Nxt Net Application http://95.85.8.113:9000/nxtnet
I'm glad to announce my Nxt-based web application. It's a decentralized storage of URI's on top of Nxt AM. The app allows you to add a new URI with description and search among existing records.
Some examples of usage:
1. Decentralized storage of torrent files (in form of magnet links); the app contains a link to external torrent->magnet link converter;
2. Decentralized DNS: add records like this: URI - <id_address>, description - <URL>;
3. Decentralized storage of bookmarks;

How it works
The storage is a list of following records: {<URI>, <description>}. Information is stored in JSON-formatted Nxt AMs sent to predefined Nxt ID.

Nearest plans
1. Improve server stability/scalability.
2. Improve "Add new" functionality: error reporting, reliability.
3. Change UI to allow to put multiple records in 1 AM: it's possible to store 10+ bookmarks/DNS records or 3-4 Magnet Links (torrent files) in 1 AM. F.e., I managed to put 3 magnet links in 1 AM (size of original torrent files was ~250K).
4. Improve search: currently search pattern is just a substring.
5. Improve UI: autoupdate, better looking theme.

The app is available here: http://95.85.8.113:9000/nxtnet. Everyone is welcome to try it and to provide feedback.
Currently the Nxt address to send messages from is fixed; it contains some coins, you can try to add your record for free (add it, refresh the page after a few minutes).

Donations are welcome: Nxt 6488861056876578743.

P.S. I'm a professional Java/Scala programmer but I'm new to Web development; this is why the app looks awkwardly ATM.

hi l8orre, i mean more somewhere else. the current nxt featureset already supports this.
i have to admit that i am very interested to built (or better said, to see) the first real running
prototype within blockchain by nxt, delivering usefull stuff (analytic) right after the client.
this concept also touched the hive (the sub part of distributed analytic on big scale).

yea, maybe.
So they think that NXT is kind of against BTC & al.
Isn't the case more like so that all cryptocurrencies are on the same side and USD, euros, pounds, etc. are on the other side?

Usually it is a good thing to have a new member or competitor in the area, which is new for customers. That increases the total volume of the area and also the customers will have more alternatives. That "concept" is from more common products like cars, consumer electronics, ... why couldn't that work with currencies, too.
