Usually it is a good thing to have a new member or competitor in the area, which is new for customers. That increases the total volume of the area and also the customers will have more alternatives. That "concept" is from more common products like cars, consumer electronics, ... why couldn't that work with currencies, too.
In general people dislike whatever they don't understand and haven't taken the time to investigate. Tiring, but true. I give it a few months and then a lot of people who now are against it will pretend to have loved it all along. yes, one just must have patience. The same happens with actors or artists: when they just continue their career, doing the things, which they see important, then finally the "customers" accept them. It may interest you to know that one of my former careers was being an actor ok, so *that* were you talking on the first reply I've seen it happen to others. I was a fairly mediocre actor

Please go to http://www.cryptmarketcap.com/ and vote for NXT to be listed there in the top right corner. There is a concerted effort to keep NXT from being listed but we can out vote them. If NXT is listed on that site and their android application, it will bring more recognition to NXT. http://www.cryptmarketcap.com/

We got about 80 more in that time. I'd say that's fairly effective

Greater Impact maybe could result of what user graviton asks in the same thread over there: "Will all pre-0.5.10 clients necessarily fork? DGEX is using an earlier version because 0.5.9 does not work stable for us." dgex on a fork

Hey, NXT peoples ( and actors)Just read the last 30 pages, lots happening in the world of our favourite crypto-currency. Firstly, my personal news:Spent much of my crypto time in the last few days off on other threads, fighting valiantly with the multi-headed FrictionlessCoin beast, who seems to have finally STFU'd. Nice and quiet for a change on his threads, especially the self-modded one ...3 pages. Having just said that: I'm currently under threat of legal action by the FCs, so I'm behaving myself a bit, until I've had time to lawyer up and get some advice (Monday) about my position vs the FCs. I don't expect that he/she/it/they will actually pull the trigger on a legal action, but if it comes to it, I would like to take the opportunity to turn the trial into a fun-filled media event and opportunity for NXT promotion and laughing at the FCs. Anyone wanna come to Maryland ? (If u have no idea wtf I am on about, check the recent posts in my profile) Other things:Yay, Cryptsy!. Thats good news, to say the least. Salsacz: its a frame-up. Any idiot can see that. Investigate further.... Cryptmarketcap...voted! Looks like we are winning by a long way... Miami:...good job so far, guys. I like the idea of sending preconfigured promo-raspberrys to people Its way better than just throwing money at somebody yelling "RESPECT ME!!!1" That is a good idea. Maybe get a NXT custom case made up for RaspPi/Cubie, preload it with 500 NXT and all software. It would be a superb high-end promo item. Passwords/hacking/security:It's easy to defeat bruteforce. Instead of using the password for account, use the password as an input for PBKDF2 with number of iterations inversely related to password's length. The relation: one second for safe passwords, longer for unsafe, let's say it's 15 second for something like "apple". This makes bruteforcing much harder even for short passwords. It's possible to add a second simple field, even an user's real name, and use it as a salt. The combination would make bruteforcing almost impossible. For compatibility with other accounts, it's enough to add a checkbox 'use older password system'. I can implement this in JS. Jitted JS in new browsers is fast enough. I asked Jean-Luc if he would include this if I did (no point writing only for myself - I have a secure password) but he wasn't interested. https://forums.nxtcrypto.org/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=557This seems like a very good idea, now that I've had it very slowly explained to me. Any dev feedback on it or on increasing password hash strength? Or another way to protect the people (ie almost everyone) who choose weak passwords? Thats my input, just like to say thanks for the great work from everyone over the last few days. Onwards and upwards.....and upgrade to 5.10, please.

@ the bruteforce password issue.
Is it possible to make a client side wallet.dat type file, that uses a password that is secured with BIP38 similar to BTC cold wallets? It takes about half a second to try a password, so the bruteforcing would be nearly impossible. The wallet.dat file can contain a random password with the highest bytes of entropy possible, that way we could also keep more Addresses in one single "wallet".
Possible or am i dellusional?

.... Selection Votes Yes 78% 225 No 22% 63 288 total hmm, who are those 63 ? Miners, obviously. yea, maybe. So they think that NXT is kind of against BTC & al. Isn't the case more like so that all cryptocurrencies are on the same side and USD, euros, pounds, etc. are on the other side? Usually it is a good thing to have a new member or competitor in the area, which is new for customers. That increases the total volume of the area and also the customers will have more alternatives. That "concept" is from more common products like cars, consumer electronics, ... why couldn't that work with currencies, too. You'll see miners claim they support cryptocurrencies as a movement, but then do a 180 when they are told they cannot mine a particular crypto. They only accept shitcoin-clone-cryptos they can mine early on then dump for BTC, because they know that these coins will never overtake Bitcoin. When a coin that does come along and does something different, well... they don't like it because it threatens their investment. (Even though they can just easily transfer BTC -> NXT) It is not a surprise that a majority of miners stifle competition. People and companies have been attempting to stifle innovation that hurts their bottom-line ever since money was first invented. As PoS becomes more and more popular, miners and ASIC companies will continue to fight PoS coins, as that is the only way they can maintain their profits.

Yeah, I would just ignore that idiot, he offers a paid service for crypto advice, he's obviously a miner and not worth our time to discuss.

It's our hope that once you have researched our community and technology, you will join the movement and help us spread the word about Nxt.
This draft is better, but that particular sentence sounds ridiculously immature. "Yeah, Jenny, call the NBA, tell them I can't make it tonight, I am gonna, uhm... research this community and, uhm... technology and then I am gonna, uhm... join The Movement and start twitting about it like crazy. Maybe order some billboards for them." Busy famous people like to know why they're being contacted and what we're hoping to get from them. This sentence shows that we want nothing more than his goodwill and perhaps a public endorsement. I.e. we aren't trying to get financial support from him, manipulate him, or call in favors at a later date. Maybe it could be reworded, but this message needs to be conveyed. I also wanted to indicate that we aren't naive enough to think he'll jump in without researching first. I'm sure he researches all his investments very carefully. For anyone who's interested, I've updated my draft of the letter to Mark Cuban, replacing the sentence that so offended NxtChg with: "We believe that if you are confident in the Nxt endeavor, others will follow your lead, thus furthering our goal of widespread adoption." https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg4724934#msg4724934Again, this is not something we should send until we have a well-tested full-featured client. When we're ready, I have some thoughts on how to reach him.

Update 5: Bitcoin Conference Miami I had a change to talk to the team from Kraken Exchange. They seemed very receptive after explaining the tech (thanks to JustaBit for helping out with the initial conversation starter). I have the CEO information that I will follow-up on when I get back home early in the week. Peercoin did a great job of presenting their case, there were people in the Kraken eco-system that were already talking about it. Nxt was an easy transition talk with PoS.
Kraken team were great to talk to.

20% increase in price seems to reflect the Peercoin presentation. (Imagine if we get the chance to fully present the Nxt potential to a big audience) That's really good news for Nxt however, nice to have someone at the conference
