Just FYI, I will be reducing the vertcoin discount to 5% next week. The margins are just too tight and the market a bit too volatile to keep it at 10%

We could use a status update. It would be nice to hear how things are going. Nothing too elaborate

We could use a status update. It would be nice to hear how things are going. Nothing too elaborate Bristow, you seem like a good guy, and I know you got some great family news recently, but I have to chime in on something. It seems like you are placing a lot of hope on the success of Vert. But objectively speaking, that hope is slightly irrational. The chances of Vert to reach a marketcap of even what was 2 months ago are extremely slim. Even with the upcoming changes. You seem to have more enthusiasm for the project than the developers (a few of which have moved on to other coins as lead devs, a few that have not interacted in months, and 1 which became disenchanted altogether). Trying to rally the troops at this stage is sadly fruitless. I know you put a lot of money into this, but perhaps its time to move on. The overall Crypto marketplace has dramatically changed since January, and its increasingly looking like Vert has been left behind. Any progress that is being made on it is insignificant anyways, and wont lead to a major spike in price. Sorry man, I just thought I would try to give some objective analysis for you so you are not sitting around waiting for months and months. I have been there, but sometimes better things await.

It is sad to hear stuff like this. ASIC resistance coin has a lot of potential - especially if we look to the future. Further centralization of bitcoin (and litecoin is on the same path) is inevitable.

Being ASIC friendly is what can keep the price down in long term. ASIC friendly coins are really close to the Ripple model. Where ASIC companies don't sell miners (no ROI = no customers) - but are able to generate free for them coins (just like Ripple) or almost free (Bitcoin and especially Litecoin).

You are a kind person helping another good fellow that is full of hope in Vertcoin. There may be others who are just as hopeful in Vertcoin but remain silent. I appreciate your offer for an objective analysis. You mentioned "a few of which have moved on to other coins as lead devs, a few that have not interacted in months, and 1 which became disenchanted altogether". Can you elaborate on it? Do you have the names?

Is Scrypt N more GPU friendly than the proposed new mining algorithm? I have the impression that Scrypt N will be more CPU friendly in the long term.

Hi Turtoro, I do appreciate the post you made and its objectivity I feel that you may have the wrong idea about me. Yes I am invested in the coin, and I do support it but not because I'm banking on making a tonne of money on my investment. I'm fortunate enough to be able to walk away from crypto at the end of the day with only a short term impact on my finances. My disposable income would take a hit but the bills are paid, my debt is limited to a mortgage and the new addition will not go wanting I've also diversified in different Crypto and stock. I support this coin more so than any other because I truly believe in it's fundamentals. The coin has a lot of potential, whether we get there or not is another story but everything it strives to be I want in a crypto. I will certainly look at new crypto's as they come out, the same way I'd look at any investment and if something peaks my interest I'll take a chance on it. Again I appreciate the note and I see no malice in it. Just one person helping another. You make a great member of the community and I hope you stick around to see where all the cards fall.

Best wishes on your new addition.

I haven't had time to go over everything but I hear there's Scrypt-N FFPGAs now. Do devs plan to respond to this somehow? I haven't looked to deeply into Vert but I was comforted there was another POW coin that was ASIC ( and I thought FFPGA ) resistant.

Devs are supposed to release a new algorithm that will require a hardfork in November or ASAP. Most up-to-date info is on vertcoin.org blog I think.

There's not been an update for so long now...anyone know what's going on? I had a quick check on github and there hasn't been an update there for months...although I'm not familiar with it so that might be normal.

The dev team has not been putting up codes at the public github repo since the stealth address development period. They are using private repo. The update you can rely on is from https://vertcoin.org/blog/
