wow...another 3 Masternodes added! 4078 Masternodes active... I'm liking the dumping by day traders and speculators in favor of long term holders! Very positive that many others think the same way.
Thats $45,000.000.00 held in long term reserve hands...61% of Market Cap held by long term Masternode owners!

As the topic of why masternode owners are likely long term investors was brought up, I'm happy to chime in.
During the day I'm a derivatives trader. I really don't trust our markets so I never hold futures contracts for very long and whenever I do invest in something for the long term, I am always looking for the most yield with the least amount of risk.
Currently, I could park my money in treasuries, bonds, dividend paying stocks or even write my own options. What becomes fairly apparent when looking into all of these though is that the yield on both the safer and riskier investments is so low right now that at this point in time, they don't make a lot of sense unless those are your only options.
While Dash is not the only crypto I hold, it is currently the only one that does offer an inviting yield on your investment. On my masternodes I currently make 10% annual ROI. About 1.75% of that does get taken away whenever I convert masternode payments back to fiat due to various exchange fees but the remaining 8.25% is still a fantastic return.
While I know this is anecdotal evidence, I do think its safe to assume that a good portion of other masternode owners have performed a similar assessment of what will offer the greatest "guaranteed" ROI and chose to invest in Dash and its masternodes because of this. All investments have risks and your initial investment could go down in value. Dash is no exception but considering that I actually have voting power as to the direction of my investment, I feel comfortable holding Dash for the long term over lets say Intel or Apple stock where I could be earning a much smaller dividend with lower risk but would not have the same voting power.
Without incentivized nodes, I am beginning to doubt the long term viability of other currencies as I think they will eventually face the same problems that bitcoin is now. I really hope more currencies begin to incorporate incentivized nodes and I know there are several that are.

Well said, it's such a unique opportunity, you just kind of want to be a part of it just to see where it goes. Something like this has never been done before, and to be one of a handful who were smart enough to get in on it in the beginning is an honor. Even if the risk is great (nothing is guaranteed), the sheer intrigue of the whole thing hooked me. Nothing is sweeter than sending that vote command to the network and having your opinion be counted, as well as many others, all in a decentralized way. In my opinion, the financial rewards for masternodes are just gravy at this point.

Hello Dashers! The current budget has 50 DASH unallocated for the next month. If you haven't voted yet, please consider supporting me for my promotional and community building efforts. I am gearing up to work even harder for Dash, but I would need a vote of confidence from the investors. Please consider my proposal an alternative to simply burning the Dash. I guarantee you, I am providing value for the network! VOTE YES: dash-cli mnbudget vote-many cc9f47f22ca96c3a8553a46e4a761eb58ccd6e7e8fec772fa5295bc42a484dab yes VOTE NO: dash-cli mnbudget vote-many cc9f47f22ca96c3a8553a46e4a761eb58ccd6e7e8fec772fa5295bc42a484dab no Cheers, Tao. Bump. 18 hours to go before the budget is finalized!

Interesting, BTC price is higher on Bitfinex but volume is higher on Poloniex and it involves the XMR/BTC pair directly. I guess that means that BTC is rising due to XMR holders converting to BTC ? Or maybe due to more BTC buy-pressure from itBit ? itBit is new bitcoin exchange? The volume there is very ridiculous because it is a new site.

Hello, Dash community..
I think I'm getting half-truths and lies most of the time.
So, I ask you if Dash can really provide anonymous transactions? I heard mixing is really slow but it works.
What about Monero? What's wrong with it?
From an outsider's perspective, none of so-called anon coins do work - all hype and pump and dump.
Thanks for honest input!

Once he reads this I'm sure he'll post it for everybody to read again. It's not me but here's the challenge (several months old): ICEBREAKER, buddy, I still need your help. Please de-anonymize this transaction that was obscured by the "flawed CoinJoin implementation" that has "not been peer-reviewed" and help me to figure out the source address of these funds! The good news is that it only went through four rounds of this "DarkSend," so it will be orders of magnitude easier to figure out than if it had been through all eight. Thank goodness for small miracles! Please help me figure this out! It's URGENT!!! Dash De-anonymization ContestIcebreaker and other trolleros: I have donated $1 to Monero's development team. I sent 0.25 Dash (TX ID: 59d51690d4b56ddbf1e393fa8d3a49bcfc3247f270f36be3b6ee411802666cba-000) to shapeshift.io, which converted it to Bitcoin and sent it to the official Monero donation address listed at https://getmonero.org/getting-started/donate/. I challenge you to de-anonymize this transaction. To make it just a little easier, I only used four rounds of Darksend, so it's exponentially less private than it would be with the maximum eight rounds. Please tell me what address this transaction originated from. Cheers! I've read on the Dash Slack that a bounty might be proposed some day.

Dash can really provide anonymous transactions, it is optional and you can set the amount to anonymize and number of mixing rounds. 8 rounds will provide you with strong protection. With coming update 12.1 there will be an option to enable multi-session mixing, this will drastically speed up the whole mixing process. In less then 2 hours i got 1000 Dash anonymized at 8 rounds on Testnet. I cant wait to see it implemented on Mainnet. The difference between Dash and other privacy-focussed cryptocurrencies is that Dash has an optional mixing solution, implemented on core level that will make it extrememely difficult to trace transactions from sender to receiver when PrivateSend is used, while still maintaining (just like Bitcoin) blockchain transaction visibility (the direct link between sender and receiver will just be obfuscated). As Dash is forked from Bitcoin and also integrates Bitcoin updates, it is very easy to implement Dash with other services, ATM's and wallet providers that are already using Bitcoin. Furthermore Dash has the best Sybil Attack resistance due to the high investments into its masternode network (1000 Dash per masternode needs to be reserved as collateral to be able to operate as masternode on the Dash netwerk) and the fact that there simply is not enough available Dash anymore to buy-up and control 51% of the masternodes. I've actually posted somewhere a long while back that I'd pay a bounty to see someone break our anon feature. I'd pitch in $1000.00USD as part of my own funds towards the bounty if someone can break our anon tech. I might be persuaded to actually put more in if a few others want to pitch in. Until someone proves that they can break it.....its solid! FYI...that challenge has been out for over a year and nothing.

Why Dash is the Most Sybil Attack-Resistant Cryptocurrency -- By Far https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz6rFZQywOE Thanks, man! So, the price slump is basically adoption and hype issue Dash is still heavily in development, currently one team is focussing on update 12.1 and another team is focussing on developing Dash Evolution, once both elements are completed, tested and integrated on Mainnet, we will be able to provide instant, private, userfriendly and upscale ready transactions that can be used by third tier users (first tier being the miners and second tier the masternodes), through a decentralized API (named DAPI) and through a decentralized file system. Update 12.1 should be ready for public testing on Testnet soon, you can participate there yourself if you want to see how this whole anonymization of Dash works Dash Evolution will take longer and be most likely ready somewhere next year. link : https://www.dash.org/evolution/In the mean time a lot of strategic partnerships and deals are struck that are beneficial for Dash, i think those caused the price fluctuations. And then ofcourse there is the market that does what it does best : being totally unpredictable.
