X11 does nothing to purposely obfuscate how ASICs can be developed for it (as opposed to scrypt-n).

Scrypt n doesn't obfuscate anything, it just makes the on-die RAM requirements financially/technologically unfeasable.

ANY algo (or algo chain like X11) can be quickly changed to instantly obsolete an existing ASIC design, if the devs are willing. The LTC guys could have done it with zero fuss and majority community backing, but they had already sunk millions into ASIC pre-orders, so came out with a load of blathering bollocks instead.

Network is at 23 GH, I think this is all time high for now. One sad thing when hashrate increases is people flock to the MPOS pools and p2p finds blocks infrequently. DRK should be about p2p with so many p2pools ! It is very easy and much faster to point rigs to p2p !!

I hope AnonyMint joins us for a few more tech exchanges with Evan. That was the start of all this more recent excitement  Smiley

liquitdiy is thin over all exchanges..any OTC offers for 100 BTC around?

Going to be hard with that kind of buy order. Maybe you can park a few BTCs in both Cryptsy and Mintpal  Grin

What implication's does DarkWallkets (a anon. bitcoin wallet) upcoming release have for darkcoin?

What makes DRK stand out vs. BTC used in darkwallet?

What are the technical differences?

As dark wallet is currently receiving press, an answer to this question by the devs would be excellent fodder for a separate article or post like I suggested a few pages back.  Unfortunately I'm not confident enough in my understanding of dark wallet to answer the question.

Dark Wallet getting ready to for live testing.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/227lne/darkwallet_update/

Interesting Q&A:

Q. Will it be possible to connect the wallet to other cryptocurrencies? Litecoin, Peercoin, Primecoin, etc.

A. caedesv

The first version is going to be bitcoin only (well and testnet coin but maybe not at the same time). This way we avoid some complexity and also can deliver on the initial promises.

For next stage we're totally considering make it multi-currency (and other goals). Should be easy and at least with some coins looks like we can even use the same bip32 tree, one key, many currencies.

Could someone who knows their sh*t explain to me to difference between Darkcoin and Darkwallet? Is it likely to make DRK redundant? I certainly hope not as a fan/holder of DRK!

Dark wallet is a centralized mixing service where you use a browser extension to anonymize transactions.  Look at this screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/FA7TIA6.png  . You can see it's routing all of the traffic through gateway.unsystem.net.

So here's our advantages vs dark wallet:

1.) We're decentralized. The clients automatically discover all masternodes and will use those
2.) Everyone will use DarkSend by default. The problem with a product you must setup like this is you'll have far fewer legitimate users to mix with.
3.) Masternodes create a new type of investment opportunity within our ecosystem much like mining. The result? We get a ton of super high quality full nodes, anonymity and happy investors.
4.) If they're accepting inputs and outputs separately they can be shut down simply by a user offering an input, but refusing to send the output. If they're accepting inputs and outputs together, it's not anonymous and it MUST be decentralized to spread the knowledge of who did what to keep anonymity. My guess is they're taking inputs and outputs separately and banning inputs that do this. In that case you could attack it by using another mixing service to get fresh inputs.

Idea for a video for Darkcoin:

1.  Different people holding up their credit card statements and checkbook:

- Person 1: "I bought a 10 inch dildo"
- Person 2: "I just bought my herpes medication"
- Person 3: "My husband and I just booked a trip to Cancun and won't be home for three weeks"
- Person 4: "I just donated to Planned Parenthood and the rest of my family is Pro Life"
- Person 5: "I just purchased three ounces of gold I'm keeping in my home"
- Person 6: "I just purchased a movie that is anti-government"
- Person 7: "I just donated to a politician most of my neighbors hate"
- Person 8: "I just bought tickets to a co-splay convention"
- Person 9: "I collect Magic the Gathering Cards and just bought $1,000 worth"
- Person 10: "I just signed up for chocolatecoveredfeet.com"

And any others the community can come up with.

2.  On the screen comes up, "Your checking account and credit cards are no longer private.  Neither is Bitcoin.  We are proud to present the only privacy centric, ANONYMOUS cryptocurrency:

DARKCOIN

For 2., I'd suggest removing any jargon. Make it as plain English, short and catchy as possible:

On the screen comes up:
--Face it...
--Your checking account and credit card spending aren't private...
--Neither is Bitcoin...
--To keep your online spending private, there's only one secure, trust-free way to pay...

--DARKCOIN
The world's only coin for anonymous transactions without third parties

Any plans to make this into an ad?

All that is happening is very exciting, I think this is the right time for all community members to promote DRK. I am taking upon myself to contact merchants today, I will call and/or email any merchant I can find that already accepts Vert or Litecoin and ask them to add DRK, this might take a few days to cause any impact but I will report back my progress. Pick something you can do and lets push together. I will also contact Robocoin and other ATM manufacturers and see what they say. Android wallet anybody?

Good stuff, been doing similar.

Just the announcement of a bounty on an Android wallet would be fantastic... there may be complications though with Darksend needing to be built in. Maybe eduffield has it in hand, who knows.

With the recent rise in price there will be a lot of people coming here to learn more about the coin. So I am quoting selected posts from eddufield so people can find it in the last pages. This is a comparison between Darkcoin and potential competitors like Zerocoin and Zerocash, take notes. Dark has a very solid value proposition and competitive advantages over their approach.

I love Darksend but you have to realize it will be replaced once someone starts a zero knowledge proof coin.

While I've been working on DarkSend I've been thinking about this alot. You know what the problem is with a zero knowledge proof? There's a secret key that will be attacked by governments and it will eventually be cracked. That will make every transaction that ever happened in that blockchain cleartext and allow every future transaction to also be viewed as cleartext. I'm going to venture to say the government is working on quantum computers and such crypto can be solved with shor's algorithm. When they do, they're not going to tell anyone. So it's a giant honeypot.

DarkSend is immune to such attacks, all involved crypto functions could be cracked and the mixing is still done off blockchain by the masternodes. Off blockchain means that the information is lost and that's the only way to secure it, you can't do it with cryptography.
