I for one think DRK is the perfect currency for the legal retail marijuana industry here in Colorado.

How do we get this moving? Is there an industry newspaper or monthly magazine that retailers or growers read?  Or is the local media the best option?

Are there any local champions we can contact?

What about the people that promoted  Amendment 64 to begin with. Marijuana Policy Project  www.mpp.org thats where I would start.  BTW coins101, I would like to be involved in your marketing efforts.

Great. I'll drop them an email.

Sure. Lets agree some suggestions or direction on marketing from everyone. freenode, #darkcoin later 11pm GMT.

There were already some good pointers on approaches to marketing a few hundred pages back https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg6303794#msg6303794

and there is some info on the wiki http://wiki.darkcoin.eu/wiki/Main_Page#Marketing

I don't want to step on any toes...so just general discussion.

I'm just glad I'm not in that market right now.

Nerves are frayed. The order book's getting reshuffled like a pack of cards on casino night.

The bidders pulled their buys ready to pounce on the emerging coin that was starting to seep out of the cracks of weak hands and that gave the sellers a fright who started to dump.

Now we're on a short downtrend while that sentiment gets soaked up but the jittery action is better spectated upon that participated in if you're of a nervous disposition.

Good idea
http://potcoin.info/ is trying to lead that market at the moment. They aren't anon though Tongue

Yes potcoin isn't anon enough, and also all they have is a name they think will appeal to a specific market segment.
But I never understood why a coin wants to appeal to only one specific kind of business or profession?

Do we really need a bakercoin, or a butchercoin? A coin for every country? A coin for nerds, a coin for bullies?

Isn't the definition of a good money that it can be used for ALL KINDS of things, all kinds of businesses, people, countries, legal & illegal things, etc?

A good money promotes its qualities, like for example that it can go "dark" like darkcoin.
A good money doesn't try to appeal to a market segment. That's completely backwards.

I don’t think that is a serious project we should even discuss, they are just trying to build a brand with no substance. The marijuana industry needs a privacy centric coin, so people can buy without being judged because it still carries a social stigma. So darkcoin is clearly the best fit, if you dont care about privacy just use bitcoin.

Then thats exactly what we should be letting potcoin merchants and users know.

I buy a few darkcoins every day.

This way I cost average into a nice position over time, without having this constant fear of buying at the wrong price.

In average I have a good price when I buy small portions every day.

I managed to convince a VPS service provider to start to accept Darkcoins Cheesy

They are running out of Iceland and have servers also in Sweden and Romania.
Also really big on anonymity. This is a quote from theyr front page:

"FlokiNET offers safe, anonymous and stable services. We will protect your project and privacy. Our main goals are freedom of speech and the right to privacy and anonymity. We offer solutions for any kind of secure communication, data transport and anonymous publishing."

They are also running several TOR nodes  Wink

Go cancel your amazon masternode VPS and sign up with FlokiNET and pay with your Darkcoins   Shocked

http://www.flokinet.is/

They also accept BTC, LTC, AUR if you dont want to part with your DRK

There is not yet a Darkcoin logo on theyr frontpage but hopfully you will see it there soon.
If you want to sign up and pay with DRK just send them a email telling them that you want to do so info@flokinet.is and Einar Jóhannsson will take care of you.
If you mention my name in the Email you might get some better deal Wink

That is awesome, thanks! A coin is not a coin if it can't be used... although I think that all of us believe in DRK so much that we don't want to spend it Smiley

I agree that moving some masternodes from amazon and digital ocean to smaller ISPs should be a goal to have a more distributed network.

Haha yes Im reluctant also of parting with my DRK, but if you think about it the monthly fee is 7,5$ (5,49 euro)

So If we have 1200x Masternodes = (576/1200) blocks * 10% of the reward = 0,86DRK/day
and the price stays the same at 2.6$ (not really realistic price @ 1200 masternodes) it will take 2,8 days to pay for the VPS and rest is proffit.

Im thinking <1day is more realistic to pay for the VPS   Wink

Alright some news. Darkcointalk.org now has a new style. Leave your feedback here. https://darkcointalk.org/threads/new-style.594/

p2pool.darkcointalk.org is fully prepared for the hardfork tommorrow.

Finally, mining.darkcointalk.org is fully functional and fully updated as well.

So check out the new theme, tell me what you think. Even if you don't like it! (If so you can change it back to the other style using the bottom left hand corner.)

You do realize that MACD and moving averages in general are not leading indicators, right? It's naive to think that anything derived from price can somehow magically lead price going forward. Useful for confirmation and gauging trend, but that's it.

LoL !! You actually sound like you know what you're talking about.

For a start, w.t.f. is a "leading indicator" ?  I need to add that to my repertoire. You have to realise that most people trading cryptos are amateurs and it takes one to know one. Whether they're "leading indicators" or not people are using MA's and MACD's because they're pretty handy for telling if you're about to be dumped on or not in these markets.

As far as I can tell, this one's more about liquidity right now because it's so thin. The price is a bit meaningless - for example it dropped a couple of hundred thousand satoshis right there to 59, but if you wanted 2000 coins you'd still be at 62.

Thanks for the tips Smiley

Leading indicator meaning signals generated lead directional price movement. Anything derived from price (with the exception of momentum) inherently lags price movement going forward.

can someone please tell me if there is a darkcoin sistercoin which does not use the darksend feature? i happen to think that an anonymizing feature like this is actually not a selling point, and infact a point of contention for future adoption. bitcoin and litecoin have openly rejected any ideas to implement such a feature.

i really like the x11 algorithm, but i want to just use it on a normal coin, is there a list of available x11 coins out there? or a consensus on what the #2 x11 coin is? ie. one that's already on real exchanges etc?
