I think we can stop calling them Chelski now as the mad Russian has gone and sold the club.  Sad

They will always be Chelski  Cheesy. Funny how all it took was one war to change things. How long it is before people turn their attention to Saudi ownership and go after them? I wonder how long it will be if ever that fan ownership starts to become a thing and they buy their clubs back from the owners and the fans become the shareholders. It won't happen with the big teams as they will be too expensive but it could happen with the smaller ones and would be an interesting experiment.

Yes, why won't it ever be Chelski, right? Not going to let the stains of one event ever wipe that memory out ha. Yeah, apart from Newcastle fans having a jibe (and then getting told off) with Sheikh costumes, seems all that's gone into the background again.

Liverpool many years ago during the Hicks/Gilett cluster, I remember distinctly looked for signatures to try a Barcelona-esque supporter share system but I'm not sure that even really works (looking at where Barca are these days debt wise).

FC United of Manchester just won the Fenix trophy, for an evolving use case of clubs owned by disenfranchised fans.

I'm not fully sure how the Barca model works but I don't think they're really fan-owned but more that the members of the fan club vote for who they elect for the board etc. It's probably like any other election with the illusion of democracy. You get the choice to vote for the idiot in charge but you don't get a say in the decisions they make until the next election when you can vote them out and some other corrupt idiot gets a chance. I'm not sure how Barca could get themselves into so much debt if they were truly fan owned unless their fans are constantly voting to take out stupid loans to buy players that saddle them with unpayable debt forever. There needs to be a shake-up of the entire system but I doubt that will ever come and the damage has already been done now so you can't really undo it all.

Yeah, they're too good to keep being so poor, though I was really hoping they'd take City out early in the cup tie last night (horrible performance from the London elites with Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Palace all out). I'm waiting for Glazer debt drama to really unravel once the economy tanks, if the Americans are tied up anyway.

If you want to be champion, you must defeat City; unfortunately, you were expecting us to do you another favor this season, given how bad we are right now. With our current form, we were fortunate to have only conceded two goals. Our issue is much larger than the Mickey Cup; Marina, Petr Cech, and Tuchel left us with a lot of deadwood that we must clear beginning in January with Ziyech. Our problem is understandable, but Livarpool's poor form is a disaster.

I'm not fully sure how the Barca model works but I don't think they're really fan-owned but more that the members of the fan club vote for who they elect for the board etc. It's probably like any other election with the illusion of democracy. A group of funny people who pay $165 per year without receiving any financial benefit in exchange for voting in corrupt individuals who manage and steal their money and leave them in debt every six years. Rinse and repeat.

Yeah I think they have a say in who they put in power, and that's good enough for me, although I don't understand how and why they aren't kicking people out of the club for dragging Barca into their current mess. Probably as you explained, in a regular system of government, you have a say, but you really just have the bigger or smaller idiot to choose from.

So yeah, maybe not fan owned, but it's a start to be able to vote for the idiot in charge. I don't know how to fix it, I guess it really just does need grassroots clubs to reboot things organically all over again and then watch the old establishments run themselves into the ground eventually.

Well, we meet City in the next round, so either we have one less distraction after that or we prevent City from winning another league cup. You have an excuse for your problem, good thing Klopp doesn't like making excuses so we're in the right frame of mind to climb out of it. Whether we do or not, I wish it wasn't in a World Cup season.

That's a more easy fixture for the Reds; I don't mind if City keeps the league cup every season as long as they don't keep the league title every season, but it's a shame the entire top six teams have become shit every season. City's dominance will last for a long time, as they have much younger players at every position to keep them competitive..

sure? isn't Klopp the excuse merchant anymore, who blame the weather, field and ref after every lost games?  Grin

few excuses this season thus far.

I missed making my prediction with City vs Brentford.  Prolly not that it matters as the match is 1 - 1 and almost ending.  It's losing in these easy win matches that would cost them the trophy.  But we're still a long way off and we haven't even seen City and Arsenal play this season yet.

Anyway, nice to see Eddie Howe do well in Newcastle at third in the table with 27 points.  But I wonder if they'd still do well if Liverpool and Chelsea were their usual selves.

Edit:  Oof Brentford just got another goal in making 1 - 2 with them ahead in the Etihad!  Lmao.

Toney MOTM imo.

Haha yes he says that in the heat of games, we all do, but I don't blame your cherry picking. Our programme notes and what he says after the storm, he blames himself, players, etc. Always things we can fix. He's not, when emotions calm down, a sore loser.

Man, first win at City for Brentford in 85 years, and it should have been a hattrick for Ivan Toney. This guy not picked by Southgate, by the way. Tell you guys, bet against City as much as you can when the odds are very good. 4/1 Liverpool and 19/1 Brentford... you're already up 21/1 if betting the same amount in all City games and you know they do lose games every season.

Arsenal top at Christmas it seems.

The city in the wind, most of the pool participants nominated the city to win, but Brentford has another opinion, who managed to achieve 3 points from the city in his stronghold.
Fortunately I didn't take the city into account so I chose to bet on Everton for this round.

Hope you profited on this one then, nobody else was cray enough to take Brentford today I am sure.

Who would have thought Brentford can take all 3 points here, they were a bit lucky that half time break basically went on for much longer with head injury to Laporte and Ref loosing communications. All that helped at easing the pressure and City just couldn't pile it high enough. Also there could have been some penalties for City in this one, few shady situations, no obvious mistakes but if it were cumulative City would have gotten 2 penalties  Grin

Arsenal must win tonight then and it will pile even more pressure on City.

I have not checked superbru but I am pretty sure no one predicted City will lose the match or even to draw against Brentford. No points for anyone in the match?

It's only the 16th round of the season. More than half a season left. But I have a feeling that this season will be very competitive and lower scoring point table. Liverpool and Chelsea seems to be in bad position in terms of points but if we have top teams losing points like City lost points then Liverpool or even Chelsea may have a chance in the top four. May be Liverpool will be at the top 🤣

I would have profited well from Toney's brace today If hadn't sold him from my FPL after his 5th yellow in game week 14, but then Haaland as captain and the best he could do in 90 minute is pick up a yellow card, I should have listened to your Nunez cry  Angry

Now that I have Salah back, Liverpool has scored 3 goals and he's not involved in any, very typical!

Manchester City was the biggest surprise of the week and now Arsenal has the golden opportunity if they win against Wolves and I see no difficulties winning against Wolves while they suffer just like Everton to score goals.

Everton was another big surprise for me as I thought they would have been able to at least get a draw but a 3-0 defeat from Bournemouth just further more emphasizes the Everton really bad form.I did pretty bad so far at the pool but so did the majority of the pool participants,we will go in the big pause with very little points difference between first place and 20th place.

What a win for Brentford against Macnhester City, i see the first half and it was very funny how so much times the left back of Brentford altmost make a penalty, were 3/4 times in 15 minutes and he was involved in all the plays.

The more important new?. Haaland doesnt score, and it was a game for him against a little team.

Brentford really made a nice surprise today. When i saw that Brentford score one goal i was really hoping they would win or draw. In the end Toney scored another goal and took the win for them. Haaland now slowly dropping in form and it isnt really possible to play the entire season at elite level

The city in the wind, most of the pool participants nominated the city to win, but Brentford has another opinion, who managed to achieve 3 points from the city in his stronghold.
Fortunately I didn't take the city into account so I chose to bet on Everton for this round.

Haha most? 100% of the pool picked City to win, not even a single person predicted goal. Haaland not scoring, at Etihad. City lost their 16 win streak, everything is for breaking and they have yet to receive some of the strong teams at Etihad this season.

Anyway, I don't think anyone ever guessed Arsenal leading the table by FIVE points this soon in the season. Amazing!

Newcastle was well worth their win, weren't they? Another Almiron masterpiece really, even if the first half didn't show any shots on goal, it was breathless nevertheless.

Was going to put a small bet on Fulham today but only 4/1? Have United fallen so low?

Hope you profited on this one then, nobody else was cray enough to take Brentford today I am sure.

Most def did. Anything above 10/1 from a team not in the Big 6 is auto bet for me. Best thing is I took an early bet at 16/1 and then another when it rose to 19/1.

Haha yeah, Nunez taken off early too, and I noticed Robertson has been racking up the assists, while TAA is being protected a LOT, Elliott is almost rushing back every counter to help him out. Salah should have had TWO goals too, Nunez should have had a couple of assists too if not for Salah and Bobby's shots getting saved. Great win, nevertheless, and we don't look so bad now before the break.

Anyway, I don't think anyone ever guessed Arsenal leading the table by FIVE points this soon in the season. Amazing!

17 wins from 19 games in all competitions, but I still don't trust them. I'd wait for 25 game mark and after they've met City to make a judgment call.

They are really playing great football this season and we have to consider them as legit title challengers. Now they even have a small cushion to loose away at Etihad. Nobody can win all the games in Premier League so there will be more points lost by both teams.

Newcastle and Arsenal are two positive surprises this season. I expected them to do well, but not really as well as they are playing at the moment. Of course it helps that Liverpool & Chelsea had quite bad starts to the season.

I bet some LTC yesterday on Arsenal win as I had them left without doing nothing and yesterday I won a good amount, the problem is that I am an avid gambler slot player and lost everything in slots soon after.Arsenal is leading the table and I think this is not going to change until the end of the season because they have been so consistent that it is more than a minimum of 10-15 years they have got not this much points up to this level.

For today games Manchester United has a very delicate game away and if they lose it (which I don't think they will) they will be in a very difficult position.

Arsenal have already met many of the big teams actually and beat Chelsea, beat Liverpool (who beat city), and beat Spurs, of course lost to Manchester United but that's for me proof enough they are as strong as they seem on the table. I definitely don't mind to see them do even better but it has to be said that other teams playing badly are really helping them, remember Leicester also won not so much by being the best but by everyone else doing so so badly.

Anyway see you all in christmas, as that is how long it is until the next Premier League game!!

Luckily I have been doing quite consistently in the pool results and although this last round started really bad for me,a two close results of Newcastle and Arsenal and a correct score from Manchester United made it look like a good round again.

It is a shame that we are stopping right now when the top 20 are divided by less than 20 points showing that the competition in a pool with a lot of participants is fiercer than ever.Anyway most of us will be playing the World Cup pool starting this weekend so we will be busy almost every day until Christmas.

it is ok to not trust them, they have a record of five times in a row losing title, when on top for Christmas day, so it is to expect a slide for them
although, I would prefer to see Arsenal getting the title compared to City or even Newcastle

we tanked three pieces against Bournemouth, new low for Everton
