A standard investor, who knows at least a little about risk management and diversification, always has additional capital to stabilize his portfolio and then make a profit. Investing is not about buying coins and forgetting about them for two years. This is a more complex and detailed activity.

To know when to stop from holding you need discipline. You must establish your own thresholds and when price reached them just sell no matter what.

Everyone has in his mind a selling price, but most people don't do the right thing when selling oportunities are there and lose momentum.

Holding coins do not always make market prices recover, but if you sell coins, it will also make things worse now. I think we also have to invest in Bitcoin, so Bitcoin also experiences an upward movement. With the price of Bitcoin increasing, surely all coins will follow the movements of Bitcoin.

Most of the investors especially newbies are focusing on hearing the news of the other investors, but really most study the chart and really knows when will they HODL and when they Sold their tokens.

Newbies can easily be influenced from what they hear from speculations.. I've read several times people tend to advice to hold long term. because its easy for them to say JUST HOLD cause theyre not the one losing! For me its not all about holding, its being smart about your own invesment know when to stop and cut the losses.

What are your thoughts?

All have an acceptable level of profit, to achieve which the person is afraid to keep on and starts to sell all panic. Find out what level you have and sell a little lower than it.

You need to stop when you are satisfied with your profit. I personally do. It makes sense for me to sell the coin if it only brought me 30%. This is very little for this market.

Hodl coins quite profitable in the long term, so you need to make a plan for the implementation of coins to achieve a certain level. Personally, I brought for myself the levels of 100% 250% and 1000%.

A lot of inexperienced investors came to the hype. Even if the portfolio was highly diversified, there is still a significant loss of funds. And in order to return and make a profit, it remains only to keep the coins and wait. Who is an experienced trader, he trades in a falling market, but it is risky. Each investor has its own investment strategy. But many no longer think about profits, but simply want to get their money back.

There is a thin line between holding for great gain and selling in the short term for great loss! Sometime, we like to measure losses in terms of dollar but losses is beyond that. It is important to hold for maximum gain, when you sell you gain nothing!

all come back to each of our hearts because every other person's speculation is not necessarily true, so it is very necessary to find their own information about what we have followed or seen.

Desperate moves for those who sell out when downfall is ongoing and forget about bounce back, We seen a lots of downfall from this previous market and those who just came in without proper knowledge they are going to sell out to cut their losses and start buying other assets to make a comeback, it's important that you fully understand what assets to buy and what are the information to catch up so you know when hold or need to sell out.

it is natural for beginners to believe in the others people speculations  . every beginner who wants to learn will understand how to invest properly and if they already understand they will understand when to hold and cut.

They should not hear speculations from people about the future of the coins they want to invest. Newbie certainly knows where the money they are planting is going to get profits or losses. It's better to choose coins that are more popular for long-term investments so that no bad risk does not occur later.

What are your thoughts?
HODL is the most profitable strategy in cryptocurrency industry if you look at the very long term and probably the most easiest strategy for newbies, thats why is so recommended.

For me as an investor the easiest way to understand that it's time to get out is when the main trend is broken and the price 4-10% below the trend line. Take a look at daily BTC chart with log scale. Put the trend line from the bottom on 13 Nov 2017 through 24 and 30 Nov 2017. The first sign of weakness was on 21 Dec 2017 and I got out with 50% of my deposit at 15000. The rest 50% I sold at $10k. That's it.

You say cut loss is a smart decision? that's a stupid thing. how can it sell at a price that falls from the initial purchase price? you do not deserve to be a trader or investor. you better drink your milk and enjoy the cake your grandmother made.
You don't know anything about the benefits of cut loss and forcing the newbie not to continue the long-term hodl.

yes I really agree with your opinion because smart investors can distinguish between the case and where to invest and how long it will hold and sell if profits have been obtained and when to cut risk if there is a large decline.

This is hardest thing for to do in crypto, when we are dropping we say okey it will bounce soon but it never rise back and we wait for it, when we are in bull we think it will continue to rise so this is hard to buy or sell at the right place.

but smart investors also make many mistakes and it is not always possible to trust their opinions. the more you can never be sure the investor is smart or not

I always worried if the Hold option is the wrong choice. if I ask other people most of them answer " just hold".  even though my heart doubts that. but they only gave input, so I really appreciate them. Smiley
