Its good to see that armis et al
have taken over. What I would like to know is, if there is any
general plan what this coin is going to be about? I am feeling like cryptoworld has been running after features, treating things like anonymous transaction like the holy grail without realising that those features are completely useless for 99% of the users right now. I understand that altcoins are kind of a play-ground to show what is possible, so this is to be expected.
If you look around cryptoworld, more and more coins are created, that claim to have actual
usability besides the odd shop where you can spend them (thats still important though). Emc2 started with the (back then) unique idea to fund science. Are you planning to pick that up again or something completely different? There still is the 2.5% mining tax? Thanks for your questions, the coin was and continues to be about doing what we can to improve science, this presupposes many things:
- that the coin exists,
- that the community supports the coin,
- that the coin is responsibly lead,
- that we have the human resources to manage it,
- that we are able to maintain the coin's upkeep,
- that we are able to be effective with the monetary and human resources available,
many of those things were in doubt, weak, or ineffective. So the first plan was to stop the bleeding of equity and to restore the basic vitals of the coin -- goal accomplished.
The 2.5% mining tax is good if the coin is worth 1000+ sat, but is impracticable at 100 sat, in my personal estimation the tax should not be triggered until EMC2's value is 1000 sat across 3 major markets for at least a week. But we are not rewriting rules as of yet, at this point we are working with the hand dealt to us.
Project funding was turned off for a long while, we turned it back on only days into our administration. We asked the community for project nominations, and we asked for volunteers to help us find projects to fund. Two days ago, 1 person agreed to volunteer to help us find a youtube channel dedicated to science that could be sponsored by EMC2. From our list of about 100 names we hope to find 2 that we could sponsor. The anticipated cost is 10,000 EMC2 per sponsored video, 2 vid max a week. This allows us a measure of impact given the present financial state of the coin.
If everyone that owns EMC2 volunteered only 4 hours a week to the cause the coin would easily be worth 0.00010000 btc per EMC2.
Here's a perfect example of how we would use volunteers efficiently and effectively:
1) compile a list of 10,000 middle and high schools around the world,
2) contact all of the schools on the list to inquire about being a sponsor at their science fair,
3) select 10 people from all of the science fairs sponsored, to receive a project award, hopefully they are located in all different regions of the world,
contact media to provide good coverage of the event
4) encourage all listed schools to organize EMC2 clubs; clubs learn about CC, mining, the build rigs, write code, and even make some money for their school,
5) for a set of schools that we feel are deserving we provide each with a computer so that they could mine EMC2, we also provide them with a sponsorship mining pool, as the school mines EMC2 they also receive pool donations. These schools will be primarily selected based on financial need, EMC2 club participation, and science fair sponsorship.
6) for each of the individual schools in another set of schools we create a crowd funding campaign to provide each school with the equipment necessary to make a very powerful rig to enable the school to mine EMC2, these schools would likely be the most engaged EMC2 clubs
7) each event be publicized, depending on the size of the event we will request greater coverage. From the point that we receive our first school to sponsor, or notice of our first EMC2 club we will seek someone to document it on film to create a EMC2 documentary showing how CC can improve life, science, education and income.
We need volunteers.
You mentioned a store; a store that uses EMC2 is coming soon and is expected to benefits the coin and the community in many ways:
1) Donation - 40% of net paid fee from this site are donated to the care and development of EMC2.
2) Currency Validation - when you buy or sell EMC2 using some other currency (btc) to facilitate the transaction, the btc is the currency and the EMC2 is the commodity. When you use EMC2 at the store to buy a test tube, EMC2 is a currency(the medium of exchange of goods or services).
3) Branding - expect to see some very special EMC2 items: coin, clothing, science equipment. Also, many other types of goods and services. and
4) Destination Location - very competitive rates for science related items. So the science community will have many reasons to learn about EMC2.
A formal announcement will be made when there are items to sell.
