Are you using the latest 1.3.1 wallet? If you are on an old version you will need to update to the newer wallet. There is a link to download it on the first page of this thread; be sure to make a backup of your current wallet.dat before doing any updates to ensure that your coins are safe. Thanks....glad to know someone is willing to help. I'm not sure what all that means but I will check it out asap Thankyou once again.

We have had Guncoin since its inception in 2014. Unfortunately due to health and life everyday circumstances we have not been on the computer for quite awhile. We are getting back into the crypto world. Our Guncoin wallet will not sync. We are truly not technically savvy. Can anyone teach us how to get to where we need to be?? Would appreciate any help that can be given, Thanks
I have one concern and that is that your original wallet was not a Neoscrypt wallet - it was pure scrypt back then. So we can try and see if this works. 1) Go to https://github.com/guncoin/guncoin/releases/tag/v1.3.1.0 and download the Windows self-extracting file. 2) Backup your wallet.data file in your Users/App Data Guncoin directly (not necessary, but generally a good idea) 3) Run the windows exe file. The wallet will load and then will have to resync with the network. Your coins should show up there.

Backing up beforehand is always smart though. Another way to back your coins up is to manually create a paper wallet by going into your help menu and select the debug window option and then the console tab.... On the command line of the console, type the command 'dumpprivkey' then your wallet address then you will see a private key generate... Copy both lines of your private key and wallet address and then repaste it in a Wallet.docx file and also physically print it out and there you have it, your paper wallet... No need to goto to a dubious website... Assuming you've lost your backed up Wallet.dat file or your hardrive has crashed or files were erase you can load back your paper wallet into the network by simply going back to the console window and type in 'importprivkey' then cut and paste your private key address from your Wallet.docx file or manually type each Numeric Letter directly from your physical printed saved paper wallet (pain in the ass ) and your coins should appear once again.

Some days are so satisfying, even if for no other reason than seeing some self-important little LA douchebag get pwn3d by a chick from another country on twitter.. Long story short, some guy that apparently doesn't like guncoin, posted some crap on twitter to his 800 followers, who basically clowned him in response. (I obscured the names so there's no followup, let this die) Note the flowery background in his screen capture, this guy is definitely anti-gun and carried that over to guncoin.

The website update continues and making good progress. We estimate we are about 75% complete at this point. Home page is done. We ended up consolidating and/or renaming a few pages which will be a little easier to maintain and make it a little more user friendly we hope. Bottom line it is a lot cleaner and newer than we had before.

The website is looking nice, nice and fresh both. One small thing of note; the Guncoin logo at the top is skewed/stretched vertically for me... I'm using the latest version of Chrome on Windows 10. I suspect it may be due to my monitor resolution since I'm on an UHD (4K resolution) monitor. I tested it with Edge as well and it is not skewed vertically but the logo does show allot of aliasing so perhaps a higher resolution image for the logo would be better.

Are you referring to the big one in the home page header or the little icon in the page tab at the top of each page???

For corporate identity (logo, website, shirts, poster...) I recommend you the following marketplace. For example you pay 400 $ and many designers will send you a corporate identity packet. Then you can chose one of it. It is like a contest. This is the best solution for getting the perfect coprorate identity. We tried it already, and we are very impressed. https://99designs.com/categories

We are going to call it done for now. Still some more minor tweaking to be done and for some odd reason, the logo is stretched on Chrome only and appears normal on Edge and Firefox......Regardless, we think it is lots better than where we started for sure.....Thanks for all the feedback, public and private.

OK, in regards to our path forward, I will try my best to lay things out and am happy to entertain any questions or discussions.
1) We should all be running GUN V1.3 or GUN V1.3.1 currently. For it, all appears to be working very well with no issues. FYI, this release mirrors the bitcoin core 0.10.x releases and changes the block version to 4 on block height 840,000. That is what the hard fork is for that will occur in a few days. Since the vast majority of our users are no longer on V1.1, we expect no issues as a result of that.
2) GUN V1.4 is complete and fully tested. This release includes the bitcoin core 0.11.x - 0.13 code for GUN and moves GUN significantly ahead of many other coins out there and opens the door to Lightning Network compatibility that you may or should read about. Additionally, within this release there will be another hard fork at block 850,000. While we hate hard forks, this one was necessary and unavoidable. Like I said, this release is a significant step for GUN. Once we are comfortable with the V1.3 fork later this week - a few days later, we will roll out the wallets for GUN V1.4. You may see us roll out 2-3 wallets on V1.4 immediately after the 840,000 fork just to test it a little farther, but you will get it with plenty of time before the 850,000 fork.
3) So now, the big question is what is next - these items are confirmed and will be added to the roadmap with better scheduling once we know for sure the time lines for each....not necessrily in this order. a) Bitcoin core 0.14.x update - at this point, we are current with the technlogy of the day. b) Mobile wallets - very necessary for guncoin everyday transactions (android first for sure, apple is TBD) c) Online wallets - very necessary for guncoin every transactions - comparable to Mymonero.com and MyEtherwallet.com d) Other code and security patches as required that benefit the users and miners.
There are other items that have been discussed, some in detail some in vague generalities and represent the current crypto currency buzzwords of the day. All of these are still under legitimate considertion and none have been permanently kicked off the list of possibilities. Keep in mind, after we finish the list above, we have established the solid and secure base that we want to move forward with. But keep in mind, that you can only do so much with a single coin or token - not all of these new desired features you have requested can live in the same code base. Additionally, we have to keep in mind - does a coin used for everyday firearms transactions need that feature??? While some features are very intersting, they really add no long term value to the coin. So everything I just said, you can apply to smart contracts, special wallet enhancements, masternodes, zdsnarks, etc. ....... Whatever makes sense for the current coin and is compatible with the work we have already done, will be seriously looked at and added in at the earliest opportunity AFTER the above upgrades previously mentioned are completed.
Again, we appreciate your inputs on how we are doing and what you would like to see in the future in the current Guncoin or something else. Thanks for your patience and support.

I vote for masternodes. Like 100k GUN per MN or something like that... Masternodes are not easily compatible with what we have in the coin right now - it would take a major coding overhaul and several months of work to implement those inside the current coin. Based on what path we are on now, heading to Bitcoin core 0.14.x, I do not see value in Masternodes for this coin at this time. The only benefits I can find for Masternode implementation that we will not already have with our current roadmap is fees for the node owners. Speed is not an issue, testing on bitcoin core 0.14 shows exception speeds..... Is there something I am missing that Masternodes provide? Remember, the end goal here is to have a safe, simple, secure and stable payment system for the firearms industry who is just now discovering crypto. How do Masternodes help solve that problem? If someone can convince me and the development team how they help the coin or the end user, then we can give it additional consideration for the current Guncoin roadmap. NOW, the privacy discussion is another issue, it can be done within the current coin and would add value and security to transactions. So that option is a lot higher on the evaluation list.

1) It'll be interesting to see who pipes up in this thread when they didn't upgrade and their wallets won't sync.. 2) a) 10k blocks is 13.888 days give or take between the forks. Well, it's never faster always slower because of difficulty schemes, so 2 to 3 weeks depending on diff changes.. (with the profitability on Guncoin climbing, autoswitching pools are jumping on and off of Guncoin, this results in the diff going up and down, actually slowing the blockchain down by a few percent) That gives everybody plenty of time to get the wallets updated from current to 1.4. 2) b) Lightning network - it's a speed/convenience thing.. Cross coins without an exchange.. WHAT?!?!?! - https://lightning.network - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning_Network - compatability outside BTC is still in flux, but whatever is compatible, Gun will be ready for. 3) Apple sucks, next... 4) Buzzwords.. Masternodes = poopoo.. Good for a few, bad for Guncoin because implementation at this point is a step backward in wallet security & requires removing several advances that we just made. Maybe in the future.. (yes, I had a heads up that was coming)
