Agreed, this decision should've been taken years back.15 years passed. In the meantime it is the politics that doesn't let WIPL. Right now we've got good development in the women's cricket and that means it to be the right time than getting delayed. Change of representatives too a reason for the approval and now the authorities were quite strong that IPL will stay strong amidst the existence of any premier leagues around the world.

Yeah.. better late than never. But I believe that they could have increased the number of teams to 8. The current number of participants (5) is too low I'm afraid. There is enough talent pool available within India, and then each of the franchises will be able to field 4 foreign players in their playing XI. So they could have gone with 6-8 teams. Anyway, I believe that an expansion will take place sometime in 2024-25. And although the franchises are yet to be announced, my suggestion is to give preferences to cities such as Guwahati and Indore that are not represented in the IPL.

I doubt if they have a large talent pool atm that can sustain close to 8 teams, at least it looks like it.

I think there is more than enough interest and doesn't matter if all 10 franchises showing interest or not. I hope the existing established Franchise gets the first slice. @Sithara007 mentioned that it should go to new regions but IMO it would be a bad strategy as you should target low-hanging fruits first, then try to expand.

Existing IPL franchises have their dedicated setup (including fanbase) in place, which is already mature and profitable so they can afford to subsidize WIPL better if there are some roadblocks. That won't be the case if a new player or region gets the team, that's my take.

Having said that we have to see how BCCI allocates these 5 teams. Region wise like South, East West etc or follow existing Men's IPL system.

What I think is the most normal team of BPL this time is Dhaka Dominators. There are no good quality players in this team. Like before and now you don't get much joy from watching BPL games. Dhaka Dominators is very strong bowling and batting there is no tie.  If we look at other teams, they are very strong teams.

BPL Champions Records

One of my reasons for writing this post is because of the poor performance of my favorite team Dhaka Dominators.  Here Dhaka Dominators are basically in player crisis.  Especially except Nasir, no one else is performing well.  While Dhaka won the finals in the first two seasons of BPL, Dhaka is currently at the bottom of the points table.  Dhaka has not been champion since 2017. In the 9th edition of the BPL, Dhaka won three times and Comilla Victorian won the final twice.



Comilla Victorians were in a poor position in the early matches of BPL 2023 but since the arrival of one of the Pakistani batsmen, Mohammad Rizwan, Comilla Victorians have continued their winning streak. In contrast to Dhaka they have already played five matches but won only one. There is zero chance for Dhaka to reach the final here. Shakib Al Hasan's Barisal Fortune is a very energetic team. Sylhet Sixers are at the top of the points table. In the final, Sylhet Sixers, Barisal Fortune, Comilla Victorians, any one of these three teams is likely to become the champion.

India Women cricket is getting better over time. More cricketing action happening all around and this time Women's team too getting importance. The results were surprising. South Africa is one of the strongest teams as far as women's cricket is considered, and Indian women were able to beat them in their own backyard. Amanjot Kaur made 41 from 30 balls, playing in her debut T20 international match. Indian bowlers also did well, in the absence of Renuka Singh. For India, the next match is on 23rd, against West Indies. Also, it is good that they organized a tri-series this time instead of the boring bilaterals. In men's cricket, triangular and quadrangular series are almost extinct.

Very beginning Bangladesh Premier League 2023,  performance of Comilla Victorians disappointed the fans. But from that situation they came back again. On the other hand Dhaka Dominators this team is still at the bottom of the points table. Nasir Hossain had played a good match but many of his teammates did not show any success. One of them Soumya Sarkar. He returned from the field with 0 runs from 4 balls. When everyone in the team can do well together then the team can change its position. Moreover, even if two players play well, if the team cannot move into position, then the game is not evaluated.

Yesterday, during the International League T20, Gulf Giants managed to defeat Dubai Capitals by a massive margin of 101 runs. I was watching the match live on OTT platform ZEE5 (they are streaming the event live for free, similar to what the JioCinema is doing with SA20). First the Giants got to a massive total of 181 thanks to James Vince (76 from 48 balls) and then they bowled out the Capitals for a total of just 80. Namibian allrounder David Wiese took 3 wickets from his 2 overs, after conceding 3 runs. There was another Namibian in the Gulf Giants squad as well (Gerhard Erasmus).
