Tim Southee should have never bowled those half volleys, because Rohit Sharma never misses such deliveries. This is where I feel that New Zealand is missing their strike bowler (Trent Boult). If Boult was on their side, then they could have easily won this match. Can you imagine a side losing the super over, after scoring a massive 17 runs batting first?
These are hypothetical situation as Trent Boult is injured and Tim Southee is their strike bowler, i think they will have a hard time if spinners will ball the super over who is able to mix the deliveries because Tim Southee is known to give away too many looking at his economy in T20, India won the series and hopefully they will give the bench players some opportunities to perform.

Unlike India, New Zealand doesn't have any world class spinners in their playing XI. Mitchell Santner have been taking wickets regularly, but he is very inconsistent and he concedes a lot of runs in crucial situations. Also, the Indian batsmen are very comfortable against spinners (especially against those who don't turn the ball much, such as Santner). James Neesham would have been a good choice.... But I haven't seen in action for many months now.

Yeah i understand they do not have a world class spinner but if someone who could mix the pace and the length quite often then it is not that easy to score when you are forced to hit the ball against a slow bowler in my opinion, if he is bowling at a full length without any variation then it will be easier for the batsman but if you can mix them well then you will miss hit a couple of times and the game is done.

I agree. Southee is not known for his change of pace or accuracy. But I wouldn't blame the decision to give him the opportunity to bowl, because he was the most experienced bowler out there. Most of the teams outside the big 3 are facing issues due to limited player pool, and in case of New Zealand this has reached a stage of high severity. Despite additions from countries such as South Africa (Neil Wagner, Colin de Grandhomme.etc), they are still unable to reduce the over-dependence on some of their bowlers.

Today Ish Sodhi bowled really well and with the way the Indian players handled they would have taken the risk and given the over to him rather than Tim Southee as he lacks many variation and if someone is planning to go after him he always go for runs.

Earlier India too had the issue with world class fast bowlers but now things changed for good and Pakistan who used to produce world class fast bowlers are struggling now and that is the case rest of the teams.

Holy Cow...

What a game, and we still don't have winner lol. is there super over or something?

Oh well, yeah we have.. damn that was a close one, full points to Shami
Lol really and the way RoHITMAN sharma played is absolutely great. It's not that easy to hit two sixes on last two balls in a super over. I think India would have been at great risk if it would have been any other player.
I really wished for NZ to win this match. They had every chance to win this match. Their feilding was excellent, batting was good especially Williamson. They needed only 2 runs from 4 balls. Even posted a good 18 run target in super-over. But all their hopes were shattered by Shami and Rohit  Undecided I feel miserable for them.
The problem of New Zealand to fail close games continues, they left the world cup so close and then other tournaments which they should have won in the past and today's game which i thought New Zealand bowled really well to restrict India but then all the hope ended in the last 4 balls and then the usual disappointing super over as New Zealand always fail to win most of the time Undecided.
I think they are the new chokers we have on international platforms. They have a good team with a great captain. But most of the time you would see them choking at big platforms. I hope that they become a better team.

Really I am still not believing that how Indian team won the 3rd T20 match because when new zealand needs 2 runs in last 4 balls, and two experience batsman are there but new zealand did not get winning runs and the match end with tied but after that hitman gives the final finish to match with his style.

New Zealand doesn't have World Class Spinners, what about India. It was almost the same with India as well, only Jadeja can be mentioned. Today the batting is very strong for India, when it comes to New Zealand the lag was felt in between when there is someone to keep up the required run rate. In terms of fielding New Zealand was better than India in today's match. Somehow it is not the day of New Zealand.

India does have world class fast bowlers and so is the reason New Zealand chocked in the final moments, if not they would have easily crossed the line and won the match and India would not have won the series comfortably. New Zealand is not having their winning moment throughout the series Wink.

That is a correct phrase, the new chokers in world cricket as they are not able to cross the line in multiple tournaments and it will be really disappointing for the players.

What a match we have witnessed where NZ were cruising for a easy win but ends on a tie . And last bowl of super over finally deciding the match winner means the match was so close and could had being anybody game . Also incredible batting by Rohit helped India to win it beacuse he would be under tremendous pressure to execute the shot right to win the match .

New Zealand is having a big issue in crossing the line in the past couple of years and even in the last over i was expecting New Zealand to win the match easily and that too when they scored a six in the very first ball of the last over and then Shami bowled really well to make a good come back and then picking up two steady batsman is a magical spell of bowling and his experience was shown in this match and India won the series.

While India created a history as well, winning t20 series for the first time in NZ.

Hitman proved his ability again.

But we also have to mention that NZ played really well on today but they lost the match by a thin line.Well this is not the end still 2 more matched to be played even if India already won the series can India beat them with complete whitewash?

Looks like India is on a mission under captain Kohli to win every series over seas and make history.

Hitman proved his ability again.
I am glad Rohit Sharma changed his career altogether when he was sent to open and now he is one of the best openers who could change the match with his innings and he is showing his potential what others predicted a long back. I still remember i was skeptical when Gavaskar used to repeatedly tell about his exceptional talent when he used to get out easily in earlier days and i used to think he is coming in the team because of people who pushes people to play in the international team but when he was given the opportunity to open he changed his career altogether and right now he is the most dangerous batsman in world cricket.

But we also have to mention that NZ played really well on today but they lost the match by a thin line.Well this is not the end still 2 more matched to be played even if India already won the series can India beat them with complete whitewash?
I was expecting New Zealand to play their best game and still they were not able to win the match, it was a great performance by the New Zealand captain Williamson who lead from the front but was not able to win the match and India played the match to perfection.

New Zealand should of won that match as they were in complete control however like I have been saying in here, the players have lost that winning mentality and in sports this plays a huge role in winning and losing which we just witnessed in this match. I'm not sure how they are going to turn this around but they better do so quickly as they must play Australia in an ODI series in March.

I can promote your project on X to my 100k+ followers for a reasonable price. Just DM me for prices.

Anyway, since India is up by 3-0, I expect the team management to give the fringe players some opportunities during the next match.

The tactics of Virat is good and also he does play subtle mind games. We have to appreciate Shami for his death bowling, I guess the wickets had shaken batsmen a bit in the last over. I was really not expecting Super over in a match like this, Rohit being the hitman did what he does best.

I would love to see Sanju Samson and Washington Sundar again if that is possible, Sanju has got all the credentials to prove himself worthy for a permanent place.
Another News I just saw is that Pruthvi Shaw will be there for the ODI series as Shikhar is out of injury and Pandya failed the fitness test.

Players might have not lost the winning mentality. Likewise New Zealand players have faced several matches. Probably the next match will be a winning match for New Zealand. As the series is won by India, more new players will be given opportunity to play. New Zealand will work hard to get its first win on the home ground. If the next match is won, automatically New Zealand gets boosted up.

They should have won that game, after all the hard work Kane Williamson put in. They needed just 2 runs from 4 balls, and they couldn't even manage that. And that too with two most experienced batsmen at the crease (at that point, Kane Williamson was batting along with Ross Taylor). Even trying for singles, or byes stolen from the keeper would have won them the match. But they lost their cool in the final over, while for India Mohammad Shami kept it. Anyway, since India is up by 3-0, I expect the team management to give the fringe players some opportunities during the next match.

NZ will feel sad after the result as game was their beacuse 2 set batsman and just 2 runs in 4 balls means they had good chance even if they miss a ball to hit . Also can NZ not handle the pressure when such situation arises. I feel for Williamson who did everything to bring the game for them and just it could not capitalise on winning the game .

Everyone must be finding it weird as only 2 runs were needed but we should think about the mindset too of the players. One player lost his wicket so the new one takes time to settle down plus the pressure of it being the last over and having to score those 2 runs. Shami took advantage of it and the batsman did a mistake and lost another wicket. In the super over also we saw the WK missing the chance of a run-out. So such mistakes do happen when the team is playing under pressure.

Also, this match was their only chance of not losing the series so that pressure just adds up. It has happened many times earlier as well in IPL when players don't manage even 1 run from the last over to win the match while other teams manage even 30 runs from the last over.

I would love to see Sanju Samson and Washington Sundar again if that is possible, Sanju has got all the credentials to prove himself worthy for a permanent place.

I think now that India has won the series, I think there will be changes likely and those are the names which may be seen in the next T20 lineup.

I think I would say both are valid: batsman in pressure and bowler did the god job making most of it. But if I were to pick one with more weight then I would give Shami the credit since 2 runs is easy and he really did a very good job indeed.

I also thought it will go out of hand when NZ scored 17 but Sharma proved me wrong.. Not many can hit back to back 6 on the last balls and with that much pressure- in front of such crowd..Whuff!!! well done Rohit...

Everyone tries to deliver there best everytime but it's about how perfectly you are able to read your opponent move and make a plan for your own. Bowling is a important and one of the most difficult aspect of T20 games as you are expected to defy batsmen on every bowl. Southee took the game to the last ball but Rohit Sharma was better than him.
