Agreed. The ECB came up with a new format, just for the sake of it. The duration is not much shorter when compared to the T20 format, and there are additional rules added which may make it too complex. Anyway, let's see how the fans react to this format. There will be a lot of hype and advertisement, and I guess that they'll get a good crowd response. But I don't know whether they'll be able to sustain them.

When this new format of tournament will start ? Will it be limited to England or international teams will participate too ?

This new Format is now going to played next season as this season its already cancelled due to Corona so now we have to wait for one year about this all.

Around 18-19 years ago... the ECB experimented with another format of cricket called "Power Cricket". This was probably before the T20 cricket established its hold. It was played for a shorter duration. I don't remember exactly, but I guess each innings composed of 12 overs. The major difference with this format was that on top of 4s and 6s, there were 3 new types of boundaries. Depending on the length of the sixer, 8 and 10 runs were given. 8 runs if the ball landed more than 20 meters beyond the boundary line and 10 runs if it landed 40 m back. 12 runs were awarded, when the ball hit the roof (this format was played in stadiums with retractable roof).

I think you are talking about Cricket Max which is invented by former New Zealand cricketer Martin Crowe and it was not ECB who developed that but it was New Zealand, i still remember getting confused and Sachin playing one match when the ball is hit at a certain area you will get double the runs and hence max cricket   and the reason it was not a success is because it was really confusing.

100 ball cricket will be successful if they can make it simple rather than confuse the audience, a new format means new advertisement revenue and that is what they are looking for.

Nope. I was not talking about Cricket Max. Power Cricket is a different format, and it was invented in England and not in New Zealand. They never got any international players to take part in the mini-tournament, which lasted just 3-4 days. They played around 10 matches and that was it. No one ever heard about this format again. To tell the truth, I liked the Power Cricket format. At least I felt that it was better than T10.

The tournament was supposed to start this year but due to the pandemic the launch is moved to 2021 as per their website and they have refunded all the tickets that were sold, the new date is not yet fixed and it is impossible to have a date for the tournament until the situation is controlled.
If the T20 world cup will be moved next year how they are going to manage to schedule everything and what about the series that were scheduled, will they move those series or abandon everything and continue with the fixture.

People who had welcomed 2020 on 31st Dec with large spending would be now looking back and thinking was it spend to see this day or so. 2020 has really being one of the forgetting years till now as it has made the world to standstill which has not happened till now for long. Also, it has killed millions of people all around the globe and not just due to positive cases but also some may die due to hunger, some may get heart attack if their businesses are being stuck and debt is rising etc. Such cases also account for this death whose numbers are not being accounted for.

Furthermore with the winter season kicking in and the restrictions being relaxed this is a scary nightmare for all the cricket fans, because if the cases continue to spike out there then it’s quiet possible that the T20 World Cup will be cancelled.

You cannot continue with lockdown until a vaccine comes out as no one know when it will. People are struggling more under lockdown. People need to learn to live with the virus.

Yes that is what is worrying me as well my friend. The Federal Government now wants to open up Australia but in stages, the strange thing is that he is thinking of doing this just when we are coming into our flu season here and winter so in a way it doesn't make any sense but he is thinking more about the economy right now which is why he wants to start opening up. I do think we'll see a spike in cases which then could put the T20 world cup on hold, its going to be interesting to see what the Australian Government does in the coming weeks.

I remember that Dubai was going to held the biggest expo in 2020 and many other countries planned well ahead of 2020 but all of these dreams of nations were ruined by Covid-19. As right now we all are living we can say this Twenty/20 world cup is going to be postpond because its very rare chance of vaccine in near future and its going to take some time and CA and ICC both will not take any risk about this so good thing we will able to have this world cup in February which is not bad at all.

Time will tell my friend as both Australia and New Zealand are heading into the winter months and as we know this could cause a spike in cases in both countries. I think more so for Australia as like I said the Government is looking at easing the lock down in stages which doesn't seem right to me with winter coming and the flu season but they want to get the economy going again. I do hope we see the T20 world cup played as planned but I have my doubts.
