As the population is high they can get good players for any sport which is not possible in a country with low population. Even if India wins in other sports besides cricket, it does not have much impact, but Indians try to know and know any cricket news. I don't know whether India is in leading position in the world in any sport other than cricket. But I have seen their dominance in cricket since long ago.

Increased population is an advantage to have big number of able players. At the same time this leads to corruption and the player selection at times won't happen out of ability, but on money. Other than cricket India have little upper hands on shooting and in the previous Olympics it was javelin throw.

Corruption can happen in any situation small or big country or have more or less population. If you look, you will find that some countries in Asia are more corrupted. They resort to corruption in player selection but I find India quite cautious in this regard. Moreover, if they were more corrupt then their cricket would not have taken such a big place. As it happens in Pakistan, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka.

Corruption is a big disappointment and disadvantage for any country in Southeast Asia. Because of corruption a lot of countries are not able to improve the situation of cricket in their country as well as they should have or even might have. India is there a big example of this, even though there is corruption, they have used the manpower that they have and they have also increased the core strength of the squad so much that a little bit of corruption is basically nothing right now. But all the countries do not have a population like India. But they do have corruption.

I think the biggest transition in Indian sports happened in the 2015-2018 period. Because a lot of sports like Kabaddi, Badminton and others got very popular. But I think eventually the one sport for which India is known all around the world is cricket.

I do not say that changing anytime soon. As far as I know, India has refused to take part in the Olympics. But I think they can afford to do that because now in cricket India is more self-sufficient compared to any other cricket board. So, I think it is better for India if they do participate in the Olympics. But it is not going to cost them anything if they do not as well.

I agreed about this Indian done amazing progress and have good changes but sadly due to RED CARPET policies and domestic corruption they are unable to take good advantage of this all and still having no results which they deserved in this all just two decades back USA, Germany and Russia were the dominating powers in Olympics, but now China is having good development, and they are ahead of the USA as well because they are doing their homework properly and bringing changes in their domestic setup and having amazing results, so India can also do things like these, but we all know these are no possible like this all happen in China.

BBL had its chance to become the second most popular franchise T20 league. But stupidity from Cricket Australia resulted in catastrophe for this league. They imposed unrealistic cap on salary and the decision to limit overseas players to just two in the XI also had some impact. The matches are of very high quality, compared to other leagues. But still you need overseas players to attract good international viewership. And now their schedule is overlapping with other leagues, such as BPL, ILT20 and SA20.

BTW, Zee TV has found unexpected success with ILT20. They hold the broadcasting rights for ILT20 in India, and as per initial reports they may get a good ROI for their investment. The first nine matches had a combined viewership of 108 million, which is an exceptional number (as per BARC). And don't forget the fact that this league was overlapping with other T20 leagues as well.

In every Indian household, you will find a TV with a DTH connection as both are very cheap. OTT is still new but is rapidly growing as everyone now can afford a smartphone in India with a cheap internet plan.  You might hear that in the next 5 years, BCCI might start auctioning the OTT rights separately if the internet penetration within India keeps on growing like it has been for some time now.

Having informed the score beforehand, I sat down to write a little with some emotions. I was with Dhaka Dynamites (now Dhaka Dominators) from the beginning of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The current Dhaka Dominators were the champions in the first two BPL seasons, but I am surprised to think that I have never been able to compare the current Dhaka and the previous Dhaka in BPL. Check Today's Score Chittagong batted first and collected just 118 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, but Dhaka Dominators could not muster that modest target. Only managed to collect 103 runs. Dhaka Dominators is one of the few low scoring teams in BPL.

However, in this case, Dhaka Dominators' team management has some failures, especially they could not attract foreign players, and the combination of domestic players was not very good. Moreover, the management is also corrupting the payment of Dhaka Dominators players.  So Dhaka Dominators has become the worst team in BPL this year. However, if this trend continues in the future, the popularity of BPL will decrease as well as the organization to sponsor teams in BPL will not be found in future.

I think it is turning out to be true. I do not think he will get another chance as batters like Gill, Ishan, Gaikwad, and KL have taken the position that he was offered earlier. Another problem with this guy is that he is not as reliable as the others. He reminds me of Shewag to some extent. If he bats then he would create history otherwise he will be out for a duck.

IMO no young Indian batter comes close to Prithvi Shaw regarding an opening in T-20 due to his attacking cricket in the powerplay. In recent times his exclusion from ICT setup was not cricket related but some sort of disciplinary and attitude problem but he's back in the T-20 system as he was performing regularly with an excellent SR.

In ODI and Test, he's down in the pecking order as there is a lot of competition and somehow his failure in the last BGT in Australia is still fresh, in comparison Gill has outperformed him in longer formats by miles.

Absolutely! A lot of effort to Market IPL to Indians was done by both the franchisee and the advertisers who were sponsoring those franchisees. BCCI pulled the crowd by introducing cheerleaders for the first time in cricket. They also created a unique IPL music which is still being used by them and many other boards are using it too for their respective leagues.


I still remember the SPICE mobile advertisement which was so unique and entertaining that Divyenndu who played the character of Sardarji in that advert got a movie and now is a big star in Bollywood. At that time SPICE mobile was sponsoring the Punjab team.
