What can you say though, it was the Khabib's decision to let go of the sports he love, truly GOAT, P4P, and the way he beats his opponent, not even giving them a single round specially in championship matches. Everyone is paying respect, even Conor himself. I thought that he will go after GSP after this, anyhow, it is what is it.

Maybe Dana was also caught off guard with the sudden and unexpected decision, and maybe Poirier vs McGregor fight will be for the vacant title in January next year.

Sad to realize that Khabib has ended career. 29-0 is a great record, but he and his father dreamt about 30-0.

Just when I saw he threw that leg om Gaethji, I understood it was a matter of seconds before submittion. To nad we will never see his fight against Ferguson.

I was expecting his victory today but not his total retirement in the UFC. Anyway, it was all his decision and people in the UFC respected that especially those who supported him from the start. what a great fighter and a great example for the fighters who wanted to be like him. Undisputed and could be the goat of UFC if they have some title like that.

This really shocked the world, I just knew it as I was reading some sports news.
No doubt he is a great fighter, he is like the Floyd Mayweather in boxing who retires with perfect record.

Good luck to him, is it possible for him to be back in the UFC again? just like the rule in boxing?

what a great fighter and a great example for the fighters who wanted to be like him. Undisputed and could be the goat of UFC if they have some title like that.

The level of respect Khabib Nurmagomedov earned throughout his fighting career, none of the fighters and fellow competitors will have a bad thing to say about him and everyone respects his fight skills irrespective of weight divisions says a lot about his legacy he created and you do not need a belt but the respect he earned and the millions of fans he made, literally retiring undefeated no damage taken inside the cage is unheard in the history of MMA.

Man! That was an awesome fight from start to finish Khabib really is Dominating and I know that Nurmagomedov will be focus in this fight and that he could beat Gaethje even though there is a small doubt when the fight isn't starting yet, Man A tringle choke and Justin just went napping, But Respect to Justin Gaethje he really did an amazing job moving away and defending Khabib's takedown and feeling sad because of the retirement of Khabib I will never be going to see another great fighter with well polish wrestling I think I will start wrestling bears from now on.

I read about Khabib's retirement about an hour ago. It's not that I am surprised about it because he did mention about leaving a legacy and retirement in the pre-fight press conference. He just wanted to get the belt and exit on a high note.

Maybe he'll go to the NBA next and show everyone his "Dagestani step" ? Nobody will dare guard him and even the referee will be scared to call for traveling violation.

Maybe working as coach for kids in Russia, and I am sure he will still be active and helping his brothers and cousins who are still in UFC.

He is fighting against Uriah Hall, and I think it is time for him to finally retire , and he should probably done that much earlier.

We move to next UFC event and probably one more legend last fight - Anderson Silva.
He is fighting against Uriah Hall, and I think it is time for him to finally retire , and he should probably done that much earlier.

I expected Anderson Silva to retire when he broke his leg in the fight but he is one fighter who forgot about retirement and he is around 45 years and he should retire from the sports even though he is still a high level fighter but a shell of his past.

I'm surprised Hall is even getting a main event even though it's a fight night. He has been disappointing after TUF imo. He could have won that finale against Gastelum had he been more serious but that's beside the point.

On Anderson Silva, mad respect to this guy (except that steroid incident) but this future HOF should have retired after that knee injury. That was terrifying and painful to watch.

I don't know what Dana is thinking to be honest. Maybe he paired Hall because he's also washed up and could give Silva a good farewell fight - A WIN.

For me the best time for his retirement is after Adesanyan beat him but he didn't. He already had a glimpse of how stronger the youngsters in today's era but he still continue. Props to his courage and fighting spirit but he must finally open his eyes and accept that he is not getting younger. He already proved his worth to us and that's enough. The legend should rest now.

Yeah! What a sad news. He is my favorite UFC fighter and it's hard to accept that I can no longer see him play inside the octagon . I'm even more disappointed knowing that he can no longer fight Ferguson. So many rescheduled rematches but the ending is still not happened. I know that Gaethje beat Tony thus some people are presuming that Khabib can do the same, it makes sense but I still wanna see them how they slug together tsk.

Urijah was just one disappointment, I think his a wasted talent, but at least we could see him one more time.

^  Yup pretty much.  I'd love to see more people get into the sport from a fan perspective tbh.

What about a $ 100 million fight? Conor's revenge is inevitable, (and after the incident in Moscow, Conor helped Khabib with motivation) 

The UFC is aiming for a rematch of Conor and Khabib, such a conclusion can be easily drawn from Dana White's speech. Conor really wants to fight with Khabib, it is very important for him, he is literally obsessed with him. Earlier, Khabib stated that Conor needs to win 10 victories, and that money does not matter, (although his father spoke of $ 100 million).

Do you really think that rematch between Conor and Khabib could happen? I havent seen post fight conference and what Dana White said after the fight.

Imho, Conor is not obsessed with him. All he said and done before their fight was just for hype. Yes, he said few loud phrases after his loss, but this was just emotions. Looking on Conor's tweets, his kind words after Khabib father death and:

Every fighter in the light weight division will have a sigh of relief as no one could defeat Khabib considering the level he is in and now everyone will have a chance to become the champion, Conor was obsessed with the rematch and it was evident will all of his past tweets even though he very well know that he only got a punchers chance before getting taken down.

Now we know why they do not want the rematch as he was not planning to continue much longer and the retirement of Khabib will open up the division and Conor McGregor will be getting his title shot next if that is what he is looking for and the fight against Dustin Poirier will be a title fight as it will do big numbers and now everyone has a chance to claim the title shot. There is Michael Chandler, Tony Ferguson, Dan Hooker in the mix as well.

After Khabib Nurmagomedov has retired and UFC Lightweight Champion title is vacant, funny to read that Gaethji claims he is Nr.1 right now. The guy that lasted less than Conor and Poirier against Khabib.

Who is now among lightweights closest one to the belt or title fight ? Conor vs Poirier ?

Conor is back in the mix now along with Ferguson, Poirier and Justin. There's also Michael Chandler from Bellator.

The Conor vs. Justin fight which is scheduled for January 2021 might be scrapped to give both guys a chance OR that fight itself will be for the vacant title.
