Some news surfaced regarding the Miočić / Ngannou fight. It seems Usman will be in Ngannous corner. I don't know if I really see a benefit to it. I doubt Usman is coaching him, maybe he showed him a trick or two but besides that, this just seems like more moral support than anything else. Ngannou has serious holes in his wrestling and I don't think Usman's presence there can fix that, at least not to the level it would require to stop Miočić's takedowns. Guidance and ''helping out'' are not enough.

About the fight - previously, Masvidal was on a short notice (if I'm not mistaken 10 days only) and managed to break Usmans nose. In social media, Masvidal likes to display that, saying if he had a full camp, he would have bitten Usman. Now he has a chance to prove that

Dana White is always hoping for a full capacity crowd for a long time even though he says his business is doing well even if there is no crowd. Last time Masvidal was on a short notice and he needs to fight with a full camp and we will see how he will handle with a full game plan. Usman's game plan is not secret and this time he might not try to stand and fight for the most part as he knows the dangers as Masvidal is a good striker.

Just finished watching pre fight press conference and Kevin Holand interview and I must say I see him as clear favorite in this fight against Derek Brunson.
He is better in all apects of the game and I expect to see this fight ending early and not going the distance.

My other betting pick of the week is Gregor Gillespie as a comeback after losing agaisnt Kevin Lee in 2019, but notice that all fights are again in small cage and surprise results happen moer often thanm usual.
I will check out rest of the fights in next few days.

Ngannou and Usman are Nigerian bothers and so is the reason Usman will be in his corner if he is really doing. For Ngannou it will be his last opportunity to become the champion and i am expecting a much better fight than the first one.

Them being from the same part of the world does not automatically qualify one of them to be a good cornerman. Does Usman have experience at being a cornerman? If he is there just for show then I am doubtful about the preparation Ngannou is putting into this fight because with Miočić's wrestling he will need someone to guide him through and work with the other cornerman to figure out the best plan at the moment. He does not need another spit bucket holder.

On another note, which fighter retired as champ has the record of longest time out before returning to fight again? Is it GSP? Let's ignore those fights that didn't materialize because of failed negotiations.

The below picture is what the speculations started and the catch phrase, Khabib met with Lorenzo Fertitta but they are no longer the owners of UFC and you think he motivated him to return again  . Khabib is the first fighter Dana White is giving the long rope and hoping he would return as i do not remember him giving any sympathy to any other fighters unless they were injured.

The legacy of Khabib is how he dominated elite fighters and the debate everyone will be having is how he got hit by Michael Johnson once in his career and the next debate is Conor McGregor winning a close round when he took a break in the third round and that too in the toughest division in MMA and to be undefeated when no one in the history of MMA cannot have that kind of dominance and now he announced his retirement and now everyone will blame that he someone escaped getting an undefeated record and if he continued he will get defeated eventually  .

I saw the interview, what Khabib said is that there is an age limit to be an elite fighter in lower weight division and he was referencing Tony Ferguson and then he said if he is 37 he will also have his limitations. The plan of Khabib was to focus on Islam Makhachev and if not for his dad's sudden demise he would have fought a couple of fights and would have retired when Islam Makhachev reaches the position to fight for a title.

As a fan i would love to see Khabib return and he is a different breed of fighter as he cannot be enticed with money because he was making millions in his last few fights when he started with $15k in the UFC and only after becoming champion he started earning millions in the UFC and any normal champion would have tried to make the maximum benefit as long as he can but Khabib took a different position altogether we have not seen.

If Khabib Nurmagomedov comes back it will be very good. But I think that he can come back only if he is offered an interesting fight. After all, Khabib's priority is achievement, not money. More precisely, not only money.

it's the risk to take when you retire and then come back. but i suppose he still keeps training while retired, he has his own gym. most fighters who do this ultimately comes back from a long rest will need a lot about 3 months of training before the fight. he still is young and still in his prime and in his best shape. we could see MMA fighters at age 40 still fighting but he is just 32. even if he loses once he could gain back up again. although undefeated would have been better.

I don't know how controversial of an opinion this is, but I actually prefer watching the fights with no fans. Getting to hear the corners, the fighters sometimes talking to each other, and the impact of the shots which is pretty much all drowned out whenever we have fans back. I do get what fans bring to an occasion, and in almost every other sport I'd prefer to watch with fans. Rugby, and soccer for example have lost some of that spark without fans, especially football.

I imagine in fight island they'll be allowed fans back sooner, although I'm unsure what the regulations are over there, and the USA regulations I'm unsure of. In the UK we've allowed I think up to 2000 fans in certain football matches, but has been rather inconsistent due to the lockdowns we keep getting.

I'll post my predictions up a little later or edit this post.

Fully agree. Kevin is on a record of 5 straight win. I think he is the one who fought more than any other fighter in 2020 (all these 5 wins were in 2020 and 3 of them got Performance of the night awards). I'm sure that main event on March 20 is going to be also something worth watching. Also, Kevin has a lot of tags as a "fighter of the year 2020" or "breakthrough fighter of 2020".

Nah, it's not controversial. I like it as well, it has an old-school vibe to me, throwback to those karate tournaments back in the day that had a lot fewer spectators and a lot less pomp to them. However, TUF fights in comparison did not have a crowd (or a big crowd) but did not have that feel to them.

I say Gleison Tibau? but that was in 2012 so I think if they would have a rematch now Nurmagomedov will surely win it easily because I think of Khabib as a learning fighter he may have a solution for Tibau's defense with his ground tackles but I am not saying that Tibau should be the winner all I am saying is that Khabib had troublesome time fighting with Tibau, and nearly lose that fight,

And Hey that early retirement must be something to Khabib and who doesn't want an early retirement if you know to yourself that you have gained a goal that hasn't been taken by anyone, But I still wish to see Khabib in the octagon even for one last fight.
