Laying former champion Frankie Edgar out with a jumping knee after only 28 seconds is simply crazy, this Cory Sandhagen is a beast of his own kind! I am starting passionate about UFC after having only listened my friends' stories but jeez, this sport is truly great.
I was expecting a big fight but Cory smashed the former champion with what looked like a precise strategy. Will follow more from him!

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Take a bow Sandhagen! Hope Edgar recovers well of course. It was a monster of a knee, and although I think it was a spur of the moment thing, it couldn't have been better timed. Also, the angle he got by moving away from him while unleashing that monster of a knee caught him perfectly on the chin.

As for the predictions it was definitely a mixed bag as expected. I'm gutted for Joselyne, as I think her stand up game is fantastic as evidenced by her opponents face. However, she may have been found out on the ground. She had one nice escape, but largely accepted her position on bottom throughout the fight. She's a huge prospect, but she's going to need to work on her wrestling a little more, or at least her takedown defense. Her fight before this, she actually handled herself well on the ground, but she was still quite easily taken down. So, I think it might just be takedown defense she needs to work on, when clearly she's the weaker wrestler, because her stand up is probably one of the best in the division.

edit: I wonder what Ben was thinking when he saw that fight  Huh
Ben Askren will welcome Frankie Edgar to the group  Cheesy.

The flying knee has become a deadly weapon to counter wrestlers and i would like to see Frankie Edgar retire from the sport and the same goes to Alistair Overeem as he has suffered some of the brutal knockouts throughout his career and there is no point for him to continue fighting. Michael Johnson is another fighter who should stop fighting as he is on a loosing streak and Clay Guida is fighting for a very long time and he needs a proper retirement fight as well.

I just finished watching the highlights and dang I lost count on how many times I replayed that part! That was all planned. His team knew exactly that Frankie would pressure him and close the distance. The height advantage made it easier to execute that move.

~snip~
Crazy, that knee hit Frankie Edgar's jaw. Damn how it feels if I'm there, it hurts so much. I thought this match would be longer and balanced, but I was wrong Cory Sandhagen made the match so fast. I read this is the 2nd fastest knockout after a five second knockout match between Ben Askren's vs Jorge Masvidal. This is good for Cory Sandhagen as he deserves to be the first challenger to the winning match between Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling which takes place next month.

I was expecting so much more from Overeem vs Volkov. Volkov looked dominant throughout the fight. I think its the end of the road for Overeem and he'd probably retire now. Completely outclassed there. Overeem is 40 and it only gets harder to reach peak physical shape as you get older. Next week's fight(Kamaru Usman vs. Gilbert Burns)  is gonna be good too but I cant wait for March 6th for Israel Adesanya vs. Jan Blachowicz, Nunez vs Anderson and Petr Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling . Such a filled card and all title fights.

I think I would have liked Conor get a fight in with someone else before the rematch with Poirier. I know that Chandler has been quite vocal about fighting for a belt against Poirier, and honestly thought he might deserve it more. Conor, has been out a long time, and hasn't won in a long time now (simply because he's been doing other things). I know that Conor, and Khabib actually have been pushing their own fitness programs recently, so you'd expect Conor to keep on fighting if he didn't get this rematch right away, but then again Khabib is still doing it without the exposure of the UFC right now.

I'd still probably want Conor to win in the rematch, and we might see some better odds this time around making a punt worth it on him. If this does happen, then its the perfect time for Conor to show his commitment, despite many questioning it.

Well there's certainly many more 'better' fights for him but they're also the tougher ones which are potentially not great for his brand right now if he can't win them. If Conor just keeps getting beat by every other fighter he's gonna quickly go down the rankings and become a has-been and it will end up with him being the one looking for fights rather than people desperately trying to fight him. I think he knows he can beat Poirier fairly easy so he's likely banking on that. He'll be better prepared next time and know what to expect so I think Poirier will have to mix it up as I doubt he'll win by the kicks again. I don't know what Conor will do if he loses this trilogy fight though.

However, similar to show business, if the movie will not make the projected profit, it might not be produced hehe. Who would like to watch this? The timing would be wrong. Also, a fight vs. Nate Diaz and win might also not save Conor from his situation. He can short cut out of the situation by fighting Justin Gaethje and win, however hehehe.

Any fight involving McGregor will make big bank. His fights are all in the top 3 of all time including the second Poirier bout:

I'm sure the trilogy fight would equal or maybe even beat the second one, or for sure be top 5. A trilogy fight against Diaz would probably do even better as would a rematch against Khabib which would almost certainly take the first spot again.

Yeah, proper 12 is about the typical price for "consumer" whiskeys, and what I mean by that is the ones which are the most popular. Think Jack Daniels, Jim Bean, and all those other similar type whiskeys. As I don't typically drink these types of brands, I've just ignored Proper 12, just because I would expect the same type of tastes. I'd be interested in hearing off anyone on here who's actually tasted it, and isn't inflating their opinions on a review as there's definitely been mixed reviews on it.

All whisky taste like fire ass water to me. Most people who drink it probably don't like it or could tell much of a difference between other brands.

Back to the UFC, I'll put up my predictions in the next day or so. As for Conor, I don't think he deserves Khabib, as it would be the the same old story, and I don't think Khabib is actually wanting to come out of retirement, and it was just Dana trying to get eyes on the last event. However, I think Conor should be fighting a top 5 fighter other than Poirier before getting his rematch.

He doesn't deserve it. You can't get a title shot on the back of a loss. Khabib likely won't fight him anyway as he also feels like he doesn't deserve it. I think Conor is going to have to have a few spectacular results under his belt before we see any potential Khabib rematch and that's assuming he isn't done for good.

Conor has claimed that he's been preparing for the Pac fight, and overlooked Poirier, but I'm not sure I entirely believe that. He must have known how dangerous Poirier was, and he knows that you have to keep fighting to be the best, something which he hasn't been doing recently. So, you would have expected him to train the best he could coming into this fight.

'Preparing' might be a loose term. I'm sure he's keeping fit but I don't think that fight will happen anytime soon and Conor's probably just using that potentially happening as a bargaining chip with the UFC to get him the fights he wants or he'll concentrate on boxing.

It was a shocking ending, Cory Sandhagen did a fast KO to a vanguard that is Frankie Edgar, That Flying was very effective indeed mostly for a shorter opponent, in my opinion, Sandhagen was calculating Frankie Edgar's movement before he tries and connects that flying knee otherwise it will not become effective to get Frankie Edgar out cold on the canvas. I sure thought it was going to be a bloody fight but Sandhagen knowing Edgar to be a tough one to crack resolves in taking out Edgar faster.

I didn't watch the card but watched the highlights of this one. I still think Masvidal's knee was the best knee knockout ever. If someone is going to beat Khabib they need to catch him with a knee when he catapults at them to take them down which he always does. If you're fast enough and you land a knee I think that would be lights out for most people. It's easier said than done though especially at the scorpion pace Khabib throws himself at people though.

The sound when that knee hit that jaw  Shocked

When I hear that I feel goosebumps down my spine like I was the one getting hit by it, Chills! This is really worst when the height advantage was surely used in the fight and Cory Sandhagen utilized that advantage, he would know that if the fight would go to numerous rounds he would have a hard time with Edgar,

And Another thing Alexander Volkov did a great job with Overeem, He surely destroyed Overeem in round 2, Although I really like Alistair Overeem back then right now I think that he seems slower than before, and I don't know about everybody here Alistair Overeem seems to develop belly plop Grin

Finally Usman is going to be tested by someone able to beat him!
Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns were team mates and they know each other very well and it will be the biggest test for kamaru Usman and his fighting style as Gilbert Burns have knockout power as well as the ground game and i think when two great ground fighters fight they usually stall and fight on the feet. I am going with Gilbert Burns in this match up as i feel he has a legitimate chance to upset the division.

Anyone willing to point out to me why I shouldn't be backing COry Sandhagen as much as I am? I only see this fight going one way, ignoring the chance of any lucky shots. Cory has always impressed me in fights, even when he appears to be struggling he has a certain volume that's just fun to watch. I think he's going to out pressure his opponent, and wear him down across the three rounds.

I don't see a knockout in this fight,  but its going to be a war right until the end. I honestly think we could see a 30-27 win by Cory. This might just be because I'm biased as I love him as a fighter, but I just don't seen a Edgar win (obviously every fighter in MMA has a chance of winning).

In my opinion, in what I see, Cory Sandhagen has the stat advantage and that's it he may have a chance on Frankie Edgar, but Don't underestimate and forget the number of wins he has, he might lose to Aldo and Holloway but his fight with Yair Rodriguez that is what I think was good about Frankie Edgar, but I think both are Ok in fighting on the ground I think that both have good striking power, this might end up bloody indeed,

The number of fights for Frankie Edgar over Sandhagen goes to show how Frankie Edgar has the most experience but Sandhagen had the talent in giving a good fight to Edgar so keep that in mind, So I am still profound about giving my Bet for both fighters, and that is up to the most experience a fighter has.

Those losses were also a weight class above at 145.  The match vs Sandhagen is at 135.  All questions and doubts about Edgar’s weight cut and how he performs at 135 have been answered in his last bout vs Muhnoz.  He won it as a 2 to 1 underdog.

For sure Sandhagen is a step up in competition.  But not that huge imho.  Not for Edgar...  Now I say all this stuff and will look like a genius this weekend or a dumb idiot.  Rofl.  Cheesy

No doubt Munhoz was great back then it was a close fight but he can see that Pedro Munhoz is more aggressive here and Frankie Edgar likes to play it focally and cleverly, I know that Pedro Munhoz is upset about the scorecard but Frankie Edgar on my perspective had down a great job by moving around and giving a combination of shots and smartly fight the aggressive Munhoz, even though Edgar won this he is still limping because of Pedro Munhoz kicks.

Now about Sandhagen after remembering that fight of Edgar and Munhoz maybe you are right if Edgar could win this you may really end up looking like a genius.

Just to be clear, I’m not saying Edgar would def win.  All I’m saying is it’s gonna be closer than what the lines are showing us.  Maybe the books think Sandhagen could do Edgar like he did Moraes..  Dunno.  I pretty much doubt it.  Edgar has the wrestling advantage and could grind Sandhagen against the cage.

I am frantic here for thinking that way, but in my perspective Edgar could win this, and if your saying that this could be a close fight as well, and I don't want to say that Edgar could easily defeated Sandhagen, but I think that this fight could be another bloodier fight or it could end up on the floor as well.

So..  Yeah.  I guess I’m looking like a total idiot right now.  Rofl.  What a finish by Sandhagen.  And things just got pretty interesting at 135.  We got Petr Yan, Sterlng, Sandhagen and the return of Dillashaw.

That Dillashaw return is a hard sell with what went on with him imho.

R

Alistair Overeem looked scary before USADA started testing the fighters and once they started testing everyone for performance enhancing drugs many fighters looked completely deflated and Overeem in one such fighter and with COVID protocol when most of the gyms were closed for months you should expect some belly for some of the fighters Cheesy. It is time he retires from UFC and if he really wants to compete he can perform in other organisation where the competition is not that high.

I was not expecting so easy win for Alexander Volkov but he dominated Overeem, broke his nose, and it is time for him to finally retire as his UFC title dreams are now over, but knowing what other fighters did in his situation and the fact that he could earn more money for one more fight is always tempting.
Volkov on other hand is calling for championship title fight and he wants a belt now, but let's look who is ranked better than him, Derrick Lewis who defeated him, so there is potential for rematch if he beats Blaydes in next fight, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Curtis Blaydes (defeated him), Francis Ngannou and champ Stipe Miocic.

Alistair Overeem looked scary before USADA started testing the fighters and once they started testing everyone for performance enhancing drugs many fighters looked completely deflated

A lot of people thought that Overeem form was gained thanks to taking steroids and dirty stuff, but only few knows that Overeem once focused on strong man training program to advance from light heavy to heavy. Some information about that can be found on https://www.muscleprodigy.com/alistair-overeem-workout/. He had changed his fight plan. At first it was pure strength, that he had switched more to tactics.

When mentioning Overeem, first image that came into people mind is (or something close to it):

True giant with lots of muscles, steroids, drugs. But this picture is already 8 years old. That is a huge gap. Remember yourself 8 years ago Cheesy

Overeem had somewhat of a decent run before the loss.  He’s not over the hill yet or anything imho.  I mean he should’ve won vs Rosentruik if not for that nasty punch at the last 5 secs.  He did well vs Walt Harris.  And had a really great win vs Sakai.  But after this loss...  Dunno.  He could be near the end of his run at the UFC.

Oh and somebody suggested this streaming site to me:  http://ripple.stream/mmastreams

I haven’t checked it out yet so use a script blocker.  It might have AIDS.  Lol.

There is an unspoken rule, that Dana White fire people after 3 straight losses, if they are just a regular fighters. Overeem has only 1 loss streak so far, and he is a star. People would definitely buy tickets or PPV if they know Overeem is fighting. I think it is too early to think he will retire. Like you said, he "had a great win vs Sakai". Overeem still can an interesting fight.

Speaking about Volkov - great performance. He deserves a rematch against Derrick Lewis. Lewis is top4 (Volkov top5 now). Volkov was leading in fight against Lewis, but when there few second till the fight end, ate a heavy punch and was TKOed. If not that punch, he would have won that fight by majority decision.

Is there anyone who wants to try a PVP sports betting? Check this https://tru.bet/ (ANN) I registered earlier and got a BTC.00012 welcome bonus. I also opened up a small bet on UFC (Usman vs. Burns) using that money.

Take my bet for fun's sake. I'm not sure if there are any users that are MMA fans there yet.

This whole UFC is just run by one man and cannot manage all of their fighters because there are lots of them actually. so they need to do the cleaning process every year but of course, this is something they don't talk about because it is taboo or forbidden to talk about it in their contract. Those poor fighters, they needed to win to stay in the competition and those who will lose without having any popularity remain will be kicked out. It's the same in the NBA, right? those players that haven't show any improvement will likely go to China after their contract is finished. I wonder where those UFC fighters go when they are done in UFC?

I don’t think anybody who knows what their doing would lay those kind of odds to bet against you.  Usman is around 1.35 in all of the lines in most books I checked.  Lol.

Dont know much about NBA rosters. But those fighters who are fired UFC usually find their new home in Bellator (second best place to be as a fighter), ONE, Rizin (founded by former Pride owner). And of course there  are a lot of local organisations.

Fun fact: fired UFC fighters wish to get in Bellator. Bellator fighters that are signed with UFC later, usually becomes champions.

He had changed his fight plan. At first it was pure strength, that he had switched more to tactics.
Alistair Overeem is a technical fighter and the biggest advantage he had during his early days was the intimidating look he had with a perfectly chiseled body and his kicks were devastating but later on when they started test fighters his shape might have changed drastically but he was still fighting the top opponents while some of the fighters who had those chiseled bodies were a shell of their former self after that.
