I do agree with the statement that Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum are probably the fighters who can defeat Israel Adesanya but do not forget about Marvin Vettori who impressed me with his recent fight and he does have good take downs and Marvin Vettori gave the toughest fight in the division along with Kelvin Gastelum.

Yeah, Vettori is up there I guess. Vettori is a pressure fighter, and unfortunately for him Israel is an exceptional striker which means he's likely to eat a lot of shots before actually getting close to a takedown. Israel comes from a kickboxing background which means its not only his hands that are a threat, but his legs are real weapons too. I don't think Vettori is that impress except that he just doesn't stop coming forward. Against Holland, I wasn't that impressed with him. He did what he needed, and got the win. However, he didn't exactly steal the show or show me anything that would compete against Israel.

I don't know, obviously on the day anything can happen, but I'm not truly convinced Vettori has what it takes to beat Adesanya.

Although, it will be interesting to see if fighters look at improving their game to see if they can take Adesanya down, as he was pretty much man handled towards the end of the fight vs Mr Polish Power. Although, there is a considerable weight difference to factor in there.
Israel Adesanya will be polishing his take down defense and unless he comes against fighters like Khamzat Chimaev who have a good ground game as well as striking game he will be fine.

Completely forgotten about Chimaev. He was very active in social media and a great fighter also. Then he somehow disappeared from my radar and last thing I've heard about him he was planning to retire (or retired). I thought that it was strange to retire in such an age and with 9-0 record.

Checked his profile - he got struck hard with covid19. Hope to see him back, but frankly, he does not look like a guy who could beat Adesanya. I'm sure he could outwrestle him, but to do that, he needs to pass Israel strikes, which bill be hard to do.

I def want to see Whitaker get another crack at it vs Adesanya.

But I'm more interested in Adesanya vs Gastelum fight. As I remember, it did not take much effort for Adesanya to beat Whittaker. The fight against Gastelum was hard, I might say one of the Adesanya hardest fights in UFC. Even though he won by unanimous decision, this fight was close. It was 46-48 on cards and according to them, Gastelum took first and forth rounds, and died due to lack of stamina in fifth round. Before the fifth round it was an even fight.

Yeah but you have to consider who Whitaker beat after his match vs Adesanya and compare that with who Gaselum beat.  Whitaker won vs Till and Cannonier.  Both top guys at MW.  Gastelum lost to Till, Hermansson then won vs a fringe top 10 guy with Heinisch.

And Whitaker was supposed to fight Paulo Costa but got cancelled and got Gastelum on short notice instead.

Edit:  Was leaning Romanov but after watching some of their matches, I switch to Espino.  Espino is better on the ground and is the more credentialed grappler.

Costa will likely be a gatekeeper. He has too many weaknesses currently, and his only game plan seems to use his muscle, and pressure to win fights. Adesanya made short work of him, and quite frankly I think Whittaker also takes him apart. The division is good, but Adesanya, and Whittaker I think are a step above everyone else on their day. Whittaker VS Adesanya next time out will be very entertaining, and I think it'll be interesting to see how Whittaker in particular adapts.

Just watch the fight between Marvin Vettori and Israel Adesanya and strike for strike Vettori matched Adesanya in the fight and that was the toughest fight he had before becoming the champion and when i was watching that fight i had no idea Marvin Vettori had a good wrestling game as i have not seen much wrestling from him but now i am convinced that Marvin Vettori can once again give Israel Adesanya the toughest fight in the division simply because of his wrestling advantage and there is a blue print on how the take down defense of Israel Adesanya can be tested.

Completely forgotten about Chimaev. He was very active in social media and a great fighter also. Then he somehow disappeared from my radar and last thing I've heard about him he was planning to retire (or retired). I thought that it was strange to retire in such an age and with 9-0 record.

Khamzat Chimaev had a hard time dealing with the virus and from what i heard from Dana White he was still training even though he was infected and that made things worse for him as he was in the hospital for lung infection and he was not able to do anything for a long time and he even thought he was having cancer as he was in pain all the time.

Now that he is planning to make a return and hopefully he is completely cured before returning.

Weigh ins and face off for the event.  I was pretty confident with Whitaker winning but after the face off dunno...  I think the line should be closer.

And after having a losing event last week, just three small bets for me.  Meerschaert, Espino and Munoz.

Oh!! Lala Tracy Cortez looks gorgeous and sexy even though she is half pounds over the flyweight non-title fight limit because she weighted at 126.5 pounds That Justine Kish, This could be her 3rd win prior to the 2 fights she debut, but she can't underestimate her opponent Justine Kish because Kish just won against some notable faces in the women's division that is  Nina Ansaroff and Ashley Yoder.

Gastelum seems buff, and can sure take a beating but I guess Whittaker can manage to overcome this I guess he is ready for a face-off against Gastelum, I can not really wait to see this but again Gastelum seems improved as well.

^  Just cos of that shove, I think it’s gonna go under 2.5 rounds.  These guys are gonna bang for sure.  Lol.  It’s at plus money the last time I looked.  Around 2.15.

Yup. Kish also beat Sabina Mazo after a long lay off.  Mazo was supposed to be the future of that division.

I am not familiar with some of the fighters and that is a problem in placing a bet and my sure shot bet in the event was Josiane Nunes but that bout is scrapped due to Zarah Fairn missing weight by 11 pounds which means she did not even make the championship weight in a higher weight category  Cheesy.

My picks of the event are Luis Pena, Abdul Razak Alhassan, Loopy Godinez, Tracy Cortez and Robert Whittaker.

If your not sure about the other fighter why go ditching coins over it, you should stick it in a fight that you sure will make income, but that is your decision and I respect that, and right now I am going all out on Robert Whittaker I think his performance with the 1 2 jab kick combo to Cannonier had me thinking that he might pull it out against Gastelum,

But we can not ignore the fight of Kelvin Gastelum against Ian Heinisch, that is one tremendous fight that Gastelum did, we can see his power and experience working out on the ring even though Heinisch caught Gastelum arm for a critical lock Gastelum manage to evade that, but my picks would be still Whittaker.

I think that it is very rare when you are completely sure of the outcome of a fight, it can be anything you like, and that is why it makes sense to share the risks. But I also agree that there is no need to bet on an event in which you doubt, in most cases it will be a loss.

My picks of the event are Luis Pena, Abdul Razak Alhassan, Loopy Godinez, Tracy Cortez and Robert Whittaker.

If your not sure about the other fighter why go ditching coins over it, you should stick it in a fight that you sure will make income, but that is your decision and I respect that, and right now I am going all out on Robert Whittaker I think his performance with the 1 2 jab kick combo to Cannonier had me thinking that he might pull it out against Gastelum,
I have not seen any fights of Chase Sherman and so is the reason i avoided that pick and i have not seen Jacob Malkoun and even though i was expecting  Abdul Razak Alhassan to continue with his momentum but Jacob Malkoun surprised me with his dominance in wrestling and he basically dominated the entire match with his ground skills and another loss was Loopy Godinez as i was expecting her to win but it went the decision.

Jacob Malkoun comes from the same fight camp of Robert Whittaker and i did not expect Robert Whittaker to out wrestle Kelvin Gastelum and now it looks like a rematch between Israel Adesanya would be interesting because of his massive improvement in the ground game and his team mate Jacob Malkoun was hyped by Robert Whittaker during media day and hence i was expecting him to have a good performance and he delivered.

Drakkar Klose injured well before the fight and he suffered a concussion and it is silly that happened during the stare downs because of a push by Jeremy Stephens.

What are we thinking, with the Israel VS Whittaker fight? Surely, its the only logical fight to make, and personally I've always felt that Whittaker probably is the man to finally dethrone Israel. I'm a massive Adesanya fan though, and while I still don't want to see him lose it might just spice up the division more.

Some goods fights last night, and watching the Triller boxing production last night really did show me how much I don't miss the Boxing scene these days.

^  I don’t think it would be appealing for Adesanya.  He knocked the guy out.  But I’d like to see Whitaker fight another ranked guy.  Maybe either Costa or Vettori.  I feel like Whitaker winning vs either of them and dominating them could make Adesanya look overrated...  Then he’d have no choice but to fight Whitaker not just as a title defense but for pride!  Grin

Don't forget to participate in UFC Vegas 24 Multi Master Challenge, predict who will win and total strikes for main event, and you can win 1.5 mBTC Free Bet from Sportsbet:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5330354.0

Just a bump reminder. Gotta love these prediction games, you don't even have to know the sport to put a prediction, and the prizes aren't even small... 1.5 mbtc even after today's BTC "crash" is still worth over $80. Tell me a bookie giving that kind of freebet money away =D

Question for you guys: MMA you don't see 10/1 odds easily. Aren't there any David Goliath match ups in any case? Like some kind of inter-division occasionals?

I'm talking out of my ass, I do realise...

In MMA you rarely see these kind of match ups especially in the UFC the best always fights the best and so is the reason it has gained so much traction, the only few occasions when a huge upset happened in MMA is Fabricio Werdum winning against Fedor Emelianenko when he was dominating the world then there was the Matt Serra upset against GSP and in recent times Holly Holm win against Ronda Rousey was another huge underdog win.

^  You beat me to it.  Lol.  And thanks!  Smiley

Anyway, it’s a chalky card.  The most confident bet I’m prolly gonna make is Usman, Weili, Shev parlay at 2.50 and a less confident one in Crute, Brown parlay at 2.59.

My sketchy leans are Uriah Hall and Brendan Allen.
