Diaz's late goal may have secured Liverpool's ticket for the next round. I don't really see Benfica coming back and winning by two or three goals margin in the second leg. Agree here things are not going to change very quickly as we already read from few legendary players also mention in last few days with some good changes they need two or three years for having very good and best club it's not easy job in current situation even they have few very talented players but their attitude and their way of play is not suitable for this club, so they need to do some better changes for better future of this club.
 
I read few days back management is going to announce new manager in May which is good because this can bring some stability and after this some good and positive changes are also needed for this club with Ronaldo is also having nothing better for this club's future, so they also need to hand him transfer for his desire club.

In fact, Atletico Madrid had things in order until the 70th minute, and Man City hadn't had a chance until then. I don't know what Simeone thought in that match with his defensive strategy throughout the match, it looked boring and not interesting at all. There was not a single dangerous attack by the Atletico Madrid players because they were too busy defending in their area. Simeone has always used a defensive strategy when facing a much stronger team. So I agree that the game was a bit boring, not only one goal
was created, but Atletico didn't create any chances at all. It seems that from the start Atletico were eyeing a draw, but with the quality of Man City's
players, they managed to win the game. Maybe the second leg will be much more interesting, because it's impossible for Atlético to play defensively
again, because they need a win to qualify for the next round. It could be that after Atletico managed to score a goal and 1-1 on aggregate, then Atletico
will play defensively again to try their luck in the penalty shootout. But if Atlético adopts this strategy, I think it's too risky, because the chances of
winning on penalties are 50-50.

Indeed, Simeone has no other choice but to return in the second leg in order to continue the competition and pass to the next round, despite the city's victory, but it needs more giving. I think that Guardiola will surprise his opponent in the first leg by choosing an ideal squad in order to achieve the goal of guaranteeing and avoiding penalties.

As someone said, Simeone is playing 5-5-0 and not 5-3-2, full defence strategy, the Simeone way! Not threatening your opponent, giving him the control of the ball most of the time while resisting in your area will guarantee few goals only, is that what he was planning since the beginning? To not receive many goals as Benfica so he could have a chance to surprise City in Madrid? Some times you think it is easy to understand him but it is quite hard but he is playing against big Guardiola and for sure he has enough data about his strategies..

He knows how great Manchester City are and he knows how to minimize losing with too many goals or at least to get a draw. That's why he used a very defensive strategy. The 2nd league might be a bit different and he may change the strategy as they are losing with 1 goal only and they may force themselves in the 2nd to be as offensive as possible in front of their own fans.

They were able to get the win but the fact that it was only by a single score means that Atletico can still play their style and hope to tie the score during the next game, Manchester City needs at least an additional score to force Atletico to abandon their style of play and to attack them more openly, if Manchester City can achieve this then they will have huge chances to move to the next round, as I do not see Atletico coming back from a deficit of 2 or more scores against them.

I can understand why Atletico are play defending, because they know the opponent they are facing is Man City, who have good quality players.
So if Atletico play attacking against Man City there is a possibility that Atletico will concede a lot of goals, but that doesn't mean Atletico have
to use a parking bus strategy, because it's also very important if Atletico can score goals. What Atletico did when facing Man City tended not
to think about attacks at all. So it's no wonder the statistics show no kicks by Atletico players, finally Atletico's strategy to get a draw failed.
Therefore, in the second meeting, it is likely that Atletico will not play using the parking bus strategy again. If the match in the second leg

First, greatly surprised by the game has played Benfica, i think in the previous of the match Liverpool gonna roll out Benfica, but was a no easy match for Liverpool.

Second,  good result for Atletico, City have to take a lot of care in the comeback game, its only one goal of difference, and seems like City cant do so much damage to the Atletico defense. Lets see with spaces but really good result for the Simeone boys.
