Cricket is actually a diverse game with different aspects, money cannot judge the quality of this game. If there are some countries including USA, China who have a lot of money but they don't have name, ranking in cricket.  Especially among the players of these countries there is no special care or technique towards cricket. But USA is trying to develop their cricket by giving citizenship to players from different countries. And they have already managed to achieve quite a lot of success in cricket.

Supporting the teams that aren't financial good is the right thing an authority should do. Here ICC does it in the right way funding 92 Associate Members (Countries). The funding strategy is simple as better the member on the field performance higher will be the funding received. To what extent this is happening in the right way isn't known to the world. If everything is happening as they've mentioned then it is fair, if not re-evaluation is necessary.

I think there is a big misconception of equality in ICC about distributing funds. Equal distribution of funds between the associate nations is never going to be a good idea. Because they are a lot of cricket boards which are quite rich and also there are a lot of cricket boards which are very poor. So it is never going to be a good idea to distribute the fun equally between the associate nations. There is obviously new funding going to happen for the associate nations. I think the funding for all the associate nations is going to decrease because India is asking for almost 80%. And if that happens, I think ICC will have no option but to actually figure out which cricket boards are poor and actually need the money more.

If 80% is allocated to India, then only India can play cricket. More countries are being benefitting out of the money from BCCI to ICC. Pakistan cricket is running with half the contribution from the ICC and the rest is being got from the government. Media rights and the advertisement is a major source for the ICC.

For the 2015-23 cycle, total funds available with ICC, to be distributed to member nations was $1.774 billion. Out of that, BCCI received a share of $405 million, which amounts for 23%. There is no tax deduction, as the ICC is based in UAE (where there is no income or corporate tax).

This is a rough calculation:

Inflows:
Media rights: $1.800 billion
Sponsorship and other revenues: $0.700 billion

Outflows:
Grants to member nations: $1.774 billion ($221.75 million per year)
Administrative costs: $0.726 billion

2024-2027
Inflows:
Media rights: $3.600 billion (assumed 80% of the revenue from India)
Sponsorship and other revenues: $0.400 billion (very conservative estimate)

As per my estimate, the grants may increase by more than 4x. But we never know how the businessmen such as Barclay will give excuses to steal money.

Thanks for sharing the calculations. They make complete sense. Have no idea why @DanWalker came up with the 80% share thought since it logically makes very little sense if you think about it.

The BCCI are corrupt cockroaches for sure, but there is no denying that they deserve a higher share when compared to other boards from the ICC.

Actually, I wanted to talk about BCCI making money, not taking money. I wanted to say that they make about 80% of the money. And so they are obviously probably going to ask for a bigger percentage (which is now 22.8% if I am not wrong) and that is going to mean less money for the associate nations. And I am not saying that India should not ask for that money. They are of course making ICC more revenue. So they should get more money in return for that as well.

What I really wanted to emphasize is that the ICC should really look into the situation of each cricket board and give them money accordingly.

But with that, there also comes a point where ICC might actually fail to realize or find out how much money a cricket board has. Because of course, there are corrupt officials and members everywhere.

An online cricket coach is not something I have heard in the past and neither I would like to hear in the present. Cricket is not an online classroom it is a physical brain where you need to use your body more than your mind. If this is the situation in Pakistan cricket then I doubt they will be able to organize PSL. If they do then I doubt they will be able to their payments. What a Shit Show PCB would be going to display when PSL starts can be easily imagined by their online viewers?

Because most of the funds end up as salary for the players (both international and domestic) and these players are paying income tax of up to 43% for this amount. Now if the government taxes the amount at source, then it will amount to double taxation. As far as I know, none of the other countries tax funds from ICC. And in almost all the cases, revenues collected from ICC tournaments are tax-free as well. India is the only country that refuses to provide tax exemption. But in this case, the ICC can't do anything. They can't reimburse the taxes, as it will be unfair to the smaller boards.

There is some confusion regarding the appointment of Mickey Arthur. He is not being appointed as the coach. Instead, he will be taking the position of team director. It is not possible for Arthur to take up a full-time coaching position with the PCB because he has a contract with Derbyshire right now. Arthur's term as the team director will start from April 1, 2023. Arthur will be dealing with members of the coaching staff (mostly Grant Bradburn and the other assistant coaches) through online mode. Anyway, Najam Sethi is creating a lot of noise after he replaced Rameez. Hopefully this step will work well for him.

Even things are not clear about this posting but still you are not understanding this rightly because Mickey Arthur is already busy with this contract as sporting head of Derbyshire, and he doesn't want to end this just because of this now he is not the coach of the Pakistan team his job is just as consultant, and they will hire few other peoples as well because Saqlain Mushtaq is already going after completing his assignment as Pakistan head coach, and he rejected to do job as his replacement.

But, few things are fascinating because after Covid-19 era things are completely changed around the globe, and we have mostly workout with online option which is not bad and hopefully soon we will have completely changes in this all system and mostly teams and clubs will be able to have services of online coaches and trainers which will increase their performance. If India was a rich country then it would be ideal to argue in favor of not taxing them but that's not the case. Australia and England can afford to give them free hand, rest of the cricketing world hardly matters in terms of revenue generation and given ICC's 80% of revenue comes from India only then it becomes a talking point for the Gov.

BTW, I am not hearing much about the ongoing media rights auction. After the sub-continent auction, ICC seems to have gone completely silent over it.

SKY Sports (UK) sealed the media rights deal with the ICC for 8 years. Both parties are yet to disclose the final price and unofficial reports are that the Australian deal is also done for 4 years.

We should get some details soon, fingers are crossed for some spicy drama.

If Iyer is unable to play, then someone else will get the chance. Ranji Trophy championship is over-saturated with quality batsmen. But the selectors give little importance to those who perform there. We always hear analysts complaining about not selecting Sarfaraz Khan to the national team, but no one actually care about players such as Abhimanyu Easwaran and Mayank Agarwal. There is enough depth in the player pool within India. But the selectors need to stop taking instructions from the senior players, regarding team selection and do their job without any bias.
