Looks like management did good by dropping Shaw from the national team, he was going through really bad form, now he's in good touch and soon he will be knocking the selectors door. Devdutt Padikkal is asking some tough questions too, just look at the averages!

@JSRAW Shaw is a talented player and the selectors know that, hence they dropped him so he could work on his form and come back stronger in the national team. @Sithara007 Devdutt time will come eventually if he keeps on performing well in domestic tournaments, but till then he’ll need to be patient as there’s lot of competition for the starting line of team India.

Consider this blessing that new guys moving through ranks from the domestic as well (Padikkal) This is good headache for the selectors.

IMO, they should give more opportunities for those who are relatively young. Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal are in the 20-21 age group. If groomed properly, these players can form the backbone of Indian batting lineup for the next 1-1.5 decades. Anyway, the Indian selectors need to think beyond Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who are in their 30s now. Rohit, Kohli, Pujara, Rahane.etc are in the same age group (32-33 yrs.) and when they retire (maybe after 4-5 years), a vacuum will be created all of a sudden. The Indian selectors need to prepare for that.

I think they understand this, just look at how BCCI and team managed the Sachin,Ganguly, Dravid,Sehwag, Laxaman's transition in the test cricket and same thing happened in ODI format where Sehwag-Sachin replaced by Rohit-Dhawan and Kohli, Dhoni in middle order. Same thing we are going to see again and my guess is Kohli going to retire from the Shorter format may be after 50 overs world cup (2023)so that he could focus on Tests and new guys will join the ranks in ODI and T-20.

I never had a really good opinion about the Indian domestic system. There are very few tearaway pace bowlers in the domestic system, and the grounds are not very conductive for seam and swing movement. So you can't say that this is something that only affects Prithvi Shaw. Most of the other Indian batsmen have never played 150 kmph inswinging deliveries. I have posted this before as well. IMO, they should try to play for some domestic teams in the English county championship or the Australian Sheffield Shield trophy. That would improve their skillset against pace bowling.

Virat Kohli is the captain and he is working hard for his fitness and he will push the players to look after the fitness and in this day and age you cannot be successful if you are not spending time in the gym and having a proper diet.

I view that as unfortunate, the balls in which Prithvi Shaw was dismissed in the series were exceptional in swinging deliveries in the start of the innings and instead of playing in the front foot he needs to stay deep in the crease and understand the bounce before playing his shots. He was trying to play shots in all of the deliveries and he was dismissed and he needs a solid defense and then apply that in the match and stay in the crease for the first 15 minutes and he will score runs. Just a slight technical change in his stance and he will perform well in bouncy pitches.

Things have changed and now people are training smartly, using slings in a small pitch so that he could face the pace and bowling machines are available for these players and they can practice is tight mats to get the pace and for match practice they need to play in those pitches to get the confidence.

He's opener contender in the test format along with KL Rahul, Mayank Aggarwal, Rohit and Shubham Gill. As of now Rohit-Gill are front runner but as soon as their form dips. Team management have to look for other options because competition is tough. Its safe to say that no one has fixed spot in any format anymore due to sheer competition so current form and domestic performances matters.

His berth in the IPL franchise (Delhi Capitals) is already confirmed and he doesn't need to do anything for that. Shikhar Dhawan is likely to open batting with Prithvi Shaw during IPL 2021, to be supported by Pant, Iyer and Stoinis in the middle order. His immediate target should be getting a place in the squad for the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled for this year. There is a lot of competition for top order slots, and to tell the truth Shaw is an underdog.

West Indies bowlers are always lethal at home. Danushka Gunathilaka and Dimuth Karunaratne started well, but neither of the two could get to a half century. They were losing wickets regularly, and I don't expect them to get to a total of 200. Akeal Hosein is bowling really well, in his 6th ODI match. Only the debutant (Anderson Phillip) is not performing among the West Indian bowlers. Ashen Bandara is still out there and if Sri Lanka want to get to 200 plus, then he needs to stay there till the end.

Sri Lanka was somehow able to pick up from that slump and after loosing their 6th wickets for 151 runs they went on to put together a 123 runs partnership between Ashen Bandara and Pinnaduwage Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva, just like his long name he was the highest run scorer for his team and that helped them to reach 274 runs and on reply West Indies is moving at a slow pace and if they do not loose wickets they can pick up the run rate as they have some batting powerhouse yet to bat.

If Malinga was in the team then we can expect an upset even in this situation but Pollard is in form and still in the crease and the captaincy suits him as he is leading from the front and i think he is performing much better as a captain.

Lasith Malinga is still playing but only in the T20 version of the game and he might be looking to play till the world cup and then announce his retirement and he is 37 years old and even if he is in the team now he is not the same bowler he once was. Sri Lanka needs to find young talents and they need to find good bowlers, if not they will be struggling like they are in the past few years after the retirement of their well accomplished players.

Malinga is 37 years now and I don't know how effective he is nowadays. On the other hand, Pollard is not just one of the best limited overs players in world cricket right now, but he is also one of the best captains. Look at the way he captained the Mumbai Indians during the IPL 2020. Another half century from Pollard yesterday and now West Indies is up by 3-0 in this series. Darren Bravo also hit a hundred, but he was a bit slow.
