At least, gradually Xavi can bring back the nature of Barcelona game, ball possession with high initiative to in attacking. Xavi surely has a little experience as a coach, before he came back to Barcelona he just managed 1 club only. However, it is not the indicator that he has no capacity to be a head coach of Barcelona. I believe, he will prove it. Anyway, he needs to win this match even if with 1 penalty goal only. It will boost the motivation a whole players. Then, they can play more solid and more confident in the next match.

Yes i was afraid too the game was an important one to win for barcelona yet it was difficult xavi did a good job but espanyol team was close to get the point and a well deserved one in the second half barcelona defense made many mistakes especialy mingueza it seems dani alves can be usefull for barcelona at the moment, many young talents in barcelona but they need time to get results and improve.

I am not really convinced with Barcelona's performance, it was luck that gave them three points today, they missed opportunities and Espanyol did the same, but luckily for Barca and Xavi they got the three points, all I can say is Barcelona needs new players, changing a coach is not enough for them, but they probably can't get quality players due to their financial situation, so this season will be so hard for them.

In any case, a victory is a victory and it is much more pleasant to start your coaching career in Barcelona with a 1-0 victory than by drawing or even losing. By the way, the legendary Johan Cruyff also began his career by winning the derby with Espanyol back in 1988. Xavi himself said after the match that they had to suffer, but there are no easy victories and they need to improve. You are right a win is a win and it is a good starting point for Xavi to give more encouragement to his players. It's a tough task but it will definitely be worth Xavi hard work as long as the Barcelona players don't get injured in the middle of the road. It just needs to be improved and I admit 1 goal is good, but 2 or  3 better.

I thought Barcelona could have scored more than 1 goal in this match but it's a shame that Lopez saved so quickly from Barcelona's efforts in the first and second half. Throughout the game, Espanyol were quite solid defensively as they relied on defense and quick attack to get the goals and I could see that they started to press Barcelona better in the second half. Meanwhile, Barcelona are now 8 point adrift of the leaders and they must try to keep this point deficit even closer.

Sure. After such a vague game, I start to fear for Barcelona before the match with Benfica. If Barcelona continue to play “no goal” just in control of the ball it will end very badly. It looks like Xavi is trying to "find yesterday" but does not understand that now there are completely different realities and tiki taka will not bring victory this way.

Late three points was achieved by Athletico Madrid against Osasuna last night,Lius Suarez,Antonio Griezman,Carrasco all failing to score,the visiting team defended very well,not until Felipe put one behind the back of the net.

It was a meaningful night for Xavi on his first duty at Barcelona. They hosted Espanyol in Camp Nou. Especially in the second half there was a balanced game but Barcelona still became successful about winning the match by 1-0 because of Depay's penalty goal. That's bad for Barcelona.. They lost Messi and now Aguero. It seems he has health issues, cardiac one precisely, thought for a while that it was related to Xavi arrival but couldn't figure the link.
