Wow. Noise can be mitigated by buying an expensive ($5K) cabinet, but heat?
people just look at the production numbers and don't think about heat, which is a MAJOR issue (for home).
The Guy that builds these open racks for GPU mining also has a sound reduction cabinet for rackmountable gear for under $1K, and it works quite well.

THERE is no cheap hosting in London, UK electricity rates are too high.

Get spondoolies to send the units directly to a hosting facility of your choosing, that way you will not have to worry about VAT (and additional shipping costs).

Look for the hw hosting comparison thread in the service discussion subcategory of the marketplace.

FWIW, I'm the guy who builds the quiet rack cabinets:

You want to go with what wpg recomends, your going to want dedicated 20/30A circuits @ 220/240 for each SP30 you have, cheap NEMA l6-20r or l6-30R pdus can be had for less than $100 each

Boscocoin, you are getting trolled really hard by bobsag3. I don't even know how to call this type of homicidal trolling where an US based non-electrician gives an electric advice to the UK based non-electrician.

bobsag3 who lives in the USA doesn't understand the typical US split-phase wiring.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrical_wiring_in_North_America
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split-phase_electric_power

boscocoin who lives in the UK doesn't understand the typical UK ring circuit wiring.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrical_wiring_in_the_United_Kingdom
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring_circuit

I wonder if boscocoin could somehow order US-style electrical devices with delivery to the UK address and then install them into ring circuit in his home. That would necessarily end with electrical fire or electrocution. Would that be a "homicide through a web forum advice" or "death by misadventure and terminal stupidity"?

Bobsag was stating that you could install an outlet such as an L6-30 on any circit with a 30A live, 30A live, and Ground where the difference in voltage across the live lines is 30A of 220-240V. As far as I know this sort of direct wiring from the fuse panel to the outlet is no different on a european panel than it is on either a 2-phase 120/240V or 3-phase 120/208V breaker panel.

however, you likely could not just swap an outlet or multiple outlets on an existing ring circuit for the reasons you brought up. Unless im missing something?

What can I say? You are just an ignorant idiot. I even provided the links describing the differences between UK and US electrical wiring.

I'm all for capitalism and transfer of capital from stupid people in "old world" to smart people in "new world".

But what is now happening here is a sort of homicide/suicide pact done over the web forum. A homicide on the part of idiot giving the advice. Suicide on the part of idiot willing to follow the advice. It is a significant step beyond simple transfer of capital.

Thus far the worst occurrence related to Bitcoin mining was one guy suffering heat-stroke or brain-stroke after falling asleep in his very hot bedroom filled with mining equipment.

What is happening here (if followed literally to completion) will quite probably end in actual injury or death of boscocoin. The libertarian in me isn't really against it, if boscocoin has a death wish then let him fulfill it. But it may be a bad marketing for Spondoolies if boscocoin kills himself trying to install their miner.  So I'm somewhat torn ethically. On one hand I'm not really against ruthless people (like bobsag3 and klondike_bar) ripping off naive people. But when the ruthlessness moves into potential death-causing misadventures, I think I'm ethically obliged to raise an alarm.

I'll wait for the comment from the Israeli people who manage this thread.

Safety first always people. Listen to the warnings please. If you are new to mining and do not know what you are doing please find some mentor locally to help you through this especially a licensed electrician for any electrical modifications. Do not ignore what 2112 is saying here he has your best interest and your safety at heart.

I think one of the points made was that NEMA is a US association making US standards. Making references to L6-30 receptacles while providing instructions to people in the UK is not advisable.

Difficulty is up another ~15% in eight days , Not sure if it is worth it to invest in ANY new hardware at the current hardware prices .  Even with a coupon and discounts a SP35 or 31 costs over 3k with shipping

ROI is looking somewhat impossible because by October when units ship difficulty could be up 30% from now ugh.

Don't worry. It will drop down to about 5-7% just few days before next difficulty change ;-)

Ok.. Hosting seems to be bit expensive.

I'd check the sums again, all mine have gone to the USA for hosting and it's cheaper than the UK in all respects

For a start you save the 20% import duty, 2x SP30's at say $4500 each works out around £1,100 total. If they go to the USA you pay 0

Typical UK Electric is around 15p, using 5400 watts is around £20 or $32 A DAY, $944 a month

Where I host my machines you would pay $700 a month, so your saving $250 a month in hosting and the $1760 import fees, you don't have to worry about power/internet or cooling and you have full access to the machines and can make any changes.

Tell Rich I sent you Smiley
http://www.michigan-colocation.com/index.php/server-colocation/bitcoin-miner-hosting

Thank you Tigggger. This was really useful information. Is there a fixed term contract with them? Would it be 6months? What happens after the contract finishes? Do i get the item shipped back to London? And I would need to pay the duty then right?

My ears ring every time someone talks about me Wink

No fixed contract, we're month to month.
When you decide that you're done hosting, you'll have a few options. We can ship back to you if you'd like.. If you sell your unit and would like us to ship to the new owner, we can do that as well.
As for duty fees, unfortunately I can't answer that one.  I can tell you two things..  When Fed Ex ships to us here in the states, we don't have to cover a fee, because it's classified as "computer equipment". And the 2nd thing, which is just a thought in my own head.. Since you already own the item and we would just be sending it back to you, would there be a duty fee?

Feel free to throw me a message if you have any other questions, or even an email: rtota@waveform.net

He's talking about the values on the chart here .. the hashrate "seems" to drop every time before a difficulty change .. but the fact is, it's like that because of the mathematical model of adapting the difficulty to the hashrate, not because the miners outthere unplug their equipment.

I think the SP20 fan design is too loud, just as the SP10's were. I will check the s4 to see how loud and cost.

SP-10 is the king of noise and SP-30 is the Queen then you will have the SP-20 making it the princess

I don´t know why manufacturers ignore the noise effect, yeah yeah they are meant to be in data-centers but that´s not decentralization
