Statistically, we can't deny that Man City is superior in every way and that is a fact. But I also don't rule out that Burnley is a club trying to become a defensive club after they struggled to get into the Premier League. Even though the final result Burnley had to lose in the match later, the most important thing is that they have gained a lot of experience to be able to make their debut in the Premier League again against this year's champion club. So in my opinion it doesn't matter if Burnley loses badly, because what they have to make an important point is to be motivated that competing in the Premier League is not easy.

Manchester City is obviously the superior team both practically and on paper. Burnley in my opinion shouldn’t be looked upon as a walkover that would easily hand the 3 points to Man City. They’ve struggled and earned their place in the premier league. I wouldn’t classify them a push over and I’m eager to see their performance during this season.
I’m not exactly expecting much from them in the first game with Man City as City is obviously the stronger side and is most likely set to win the game. I’m sure Burnley is motivated enough and knows the competition in the premier league is a lot different.

The Premier League competition is always fierce and no team is underestimated, hasn't it been proven long ago that the Premier League often has surprises with the defeat of the favorite team.
But in predicting a match, we have to be realistic, regardless that later something you don't want will happen, and in football, surprises are a natural thing.

Well, talking about being realistic in predicting the outcome of matches in the premier league,  for me, i do sometimes go against the crowd, most especially when I see a really high odd, which means the chances of that team winning is low, but also means that, if that team by any chance wins, the potential amount of money for those that bet for that team will also be high based on the odds.
So most times when I see such, even though i know that the chances of winning is very low, i still go against the crowd, but i only do this with a very small amount of money, some thing I am really comfortable loosing knowing that my chances of winning such bet is very slim, though for the several times ive done those over the years, it has only worked out for me once, and that was in 2022 world cup Portugal vs Morocco or Ecuador vs Morocco, i cant remember the match in particular now, but i know that Morocco was in that game and it was the team i betted for when the crowd was betting for their counterpart, and Morocco later won.

I also don't consider Burnley but I see the team's strength realistically so I think Manchester City's chances of winning this match are quite large.
I bet -1.5 because I believe Manchester City will win by a convincing score in their first match.

You are right, and to be honest, i dont think any one who is truly a fan of sports will say anything different from what you have said, the game is sure for Manchester city, unless they themselves decides to allow Burnley win.

It would be interesting to see if Burnley are able to create the miracle surprise to upset Manchester City in the first match of the English Premier League this season even though I think it would be too hard for that result to happen today, I guess the home fans of Burnley might have to accept the first loss of their team against Manchester City at the start of this season.

I actually also want a different result in the match later and if Burnley manages to beat Manchester City, of course it will be an extraordinary achievement on their promotional debut in the EPL. But indeed something like that will be difficult to realize considering that Manchester City is still the defending champion of the EPL with top squad depth in all lines. Even so, actually a draw is already very good for Burnley in this match, at least they can still secure one additional point. We will also see a duel between teachers and students in this match, namely Pep Guardiola vs Vincent Kompany.

I'm sure Man City vs Burnley will present a good and lively opening match. My prediction is that Man City will win with a narrow score of 1-2 for Man City to win.

Of course Burnley are going to lose this game... I don't remember Man City losing to EPL newcomers... Especially since it's the first kick-off game of this season... And another factor for City's good game is that they lost in the Super Cup to Arsenal recently... Burnley will lose without a chance...

I also think that what you say can happen to Burnley, because Burnley is not a team that can make it difficult for Manchester City and Manchester City themselves might also think that Burnley is an easy opponent for them in the first week of this season so I also agree more with what what you're saying, that is Burnley will lose to Manchester City without any chance.

that's the reason why i were going all in city. Burnley being promoted to the EPL but its performance is still questionable at this moment. I don't underestimate it but i doubt if burnley will able to give a tough game for city. It's caused by burnley was not facing manchester city last season. The club just being promoted to the EPL now. Burnley must be careful with manchester city with all of its stars. City will try to use full power against burnley. Burnley may be conceded so many goals against manchester city.
Guardiola needs to try its main line up against burnley to make sure whether the main squad is still strong enough or not to win a lot of trophies again this season. My guess if guardiola will be playing haaland and KDB together.
I hope that burnley will able show its best performance in first week of EPL. We will see kompany to face its former club.

The opening match can be a tough one but I think no one doubts Man City because they really are a solid team and of course the reigning Premier League champions. Although they will be playing as guests but it is undeniable that Man City's level is far above Burnley, so the game against Burnley shouldn't be a difficult mission for Man City.

Despite how Burnley play way better under Vincent Kompany, they have a better chance playing the all out defense and counter attack than going toe to toe with Man City in a possession battle.
Manchester City loves when the opponents comes out to play, when the opponents is not defensive. This leaves aot of spaces at the back.
Burnley don't have the quality of players Man City has to pay that kind of football against them and win.

That's by the way though.
I would really love to see how this Burnley team does this season. This is a team that have always played the ancient traditional football of FBs that are actually defenders and just defenders, not players that join in the attack. They were not used to the modern football style of playing football but Kompany has changed that and it has worked so far. They won the championship last season. One thing I'm looking forward to is how they play this season. Would they turn out to be a force like Brighton or they'll just be another Sheffield United.

Referring to the history of the H2H meetings between these two teams, Burnley always falls with a landslide score when they meet Manchester City. the last meeting of the two teams in the FA CUP event, City crushed Burnley with a landslide score of 6-0. even City's dominance is difficult for the Burnley team to break, even though they are playing at home. in this match, was the Premier League debut match for these two teams. I'm not sure, if the match will offer a very interesting game although it looks like some of City's players will not be used.

Referring to the predicted line-up, it seems that Burnley will not play in a defensive pattern even though the team they will face is a strong team. for City, as usual Pep will apply a 3-2-4-1 pattern. but if I refer to City's predicted line-up, there are several players that Pep will rotate in this match. it seems, De Bruyne will not be played again as the main starter. instead Alvarez replaced De Bryne's position, as well as Bernardo Silva, his position will be shifted slightly and Phil Foden will fill the position that Silva normally occupies. the rest, nothing changes except maybe this will be the first debut for Gvardiol. overall, it should be fine for City to topple the home team. especially if we refer to the available odds, City are far more favored.

Ideally if you want to make a bet, I suggest betting on Over 2.75 with odds @1.83, there will be at least 3 goals in this match.

Yeah very likely that Burnley will take kinda defensive approach and let City come onto them. But will that be enough to stop them? Well I don't think so but if City keeps on missing chances and Burnley also tightens their defence to give City no way then I think draw is possible. It is a match with an ending that seems to not be open at all and that Manchester City will destroy Burnley. On paper, Man City deserves to be superior when they travel to Burnley headquarters in the opening match of the English Premiere League tomorrow. In the opening match surprising things can happen, even though materially the Man City players are really the favorites in this match. My prediction is that the match will be a bit more even and Man City won't be too insistent on playing open because it's their first game and don't want to lose on their away trip. If people see that Burnley is under a lot of pressure in this match then I think Man City will also be under a lot of pressure because talking about the defending champion and this is the opening game.

Burnley will play with great motivation and they will try to make a surprise in this match because after all Burnley's spirit is above Man City. Pep Guardiola must be careful in anticipating matches and also have to be a little defensive to stop attacks that are trying to be built by Vincent Kompany's men.

It has been a year since last time of burnley faced manchester city in FA cup. The citizen was destroying burnley with 6-0, the last time burnley faced manchester city was in EPL 2021/2022 before it gets relegated to the championship.
Over 2.5 goals actually make sense. As long as city will be using a proper line up and burnley can be destroyed again by haaland. The match may end with 3-0 as the final scores.
Burnley has no superior squads like city, it will be a suicide strategy for burnley if the club was not playing defensively against manchester city. City is too strong, and it was the best club in the world.

Yes, it doesn't matter what strategy Vincent Kompany will implement against Manchester City in the first match of the Premier League. Manchester City is a team that is ready to face all kinds of opponents regardless of whether they want to play some good football or just want to hang around the defensive area until the game is over.

The fact is that Manchester City only needed 1 goal to win the match if Burnley played with a total defensive strategy. The consequences of playing with high tension in defense will not always be good for trying to get points from more dominant opponents, it's too risky if players make mistakes when anticipating attacks. I think Burnley will lose, but I'm sure a lot of people will be happy if Manchester City loses.

Footballer play for the money, nothing matters, Chelsea were Romancing with Caicedo transfer , they were not sure of him, they wanted him to be the last hope if the other players of their choice don't work. and Liverpool after losing two of their keys midfielders to the Saudi Arabic clubs, needed immediately replacement and Caicedo is the option available. Big lose to Chelsea and a big gain to Liverpool.

I have a problem with Brightons valuation of their players, Chelsea have been well interested in sealing this deal, but Brighton were asking for too much money imo, i don't think Caicedo is worth the amount that Brighton were asking for him. Liverpool are in desperate need of midfielders and that's prolly why they didn't mind hijacking this deal from Chelsea, but £110m for Moises Caicedo is just absolutely insane.

Having said that, i don't mind if Chelsea missed out on this player, i think they should go after more affordable options, but with the way the transfer market is going, sooner rather than later, there'd be no decent player who will be affordable.

Considering the amount of money that had been spent on this player, I genuinely don’t think that Chelsea is actually going to feel sad losing the player to Liverpool. For 110 million Chelsea might as well get two more players who are going to play better in different positions instead of getting just one. And Liverpool needed a midfielder very badly. That’s why they had gone for this transfer.

Still I think the money that was spent was definitely a little too much. But Liverpool could spend so they did. I wouldn’t say that Chelsea made a mistake.  Chelsea was just trying to make a transfer which made more sense. After all everyone needs to think about money. But in this case, the need of a midfielder for Liverpool was more than their need of money.

I've just read the news about Harry Kane, so has England's best centre-forward decided to move on?
I thought he was going to stay another year at Tottenham but evidently he didn't want to leave on a free transfer and has at least given the spurs a good deal! It's a pity that the Premier League is just around the corner and now Tottenham need to find a suitable replacement, or have they already found him?
