If I remember it correctly, Bob Arum already agreed to a unification fight considering that Artur Beterbiev will successfully defend his title versus Anthony Yarde and as long as it won't be televised under Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing. For that case, Bob can demand because Beterbiev is on the A-side. Let's just hope that there won't be any serious issues so that we will see a unification fight next year.

That'll be good mate! obviously, they cannot take some risk by giving Canelo another chance to regain his honor instead they will go for a unification fight which really hard to get a chance to fight for that title. Canelo can wait after this one because he can take some time to heal his injury and watch this fight to get an idea of what to do next if he is given a chance for II fight with Bivol. After all this weight class is only reserved for them unless those boxers decided to go up but I think they will gonna stay until they decided to retire.

Guys, dont forget that Artur Beterbiev is facing Anthony Yarde in 2023. This fight was originally postponed due to Beterbievs injury. Fight with Yarde, recovery and preparation period - looks like Beterbievs next fight could only happen in summer 2023. This is a very long pause for Bivol. That pause can be filled with either with Canelo (not likely) or by Joe Smith Jr. for example. Top3 in light heavy. He is also looking to recover reputation after a loss to Beterbiev and to have a rematch with Bivol. It could be a win-win solution for Smith. Bivol vs Smith could be the next fight.

After Canelo saw how Bivol made it easy against a bigger guy with probably the same power he has, he is not probably going to rematch Bivol. I think Canelo will face an easier opponent next. The WBC already inserted at number 1 an unknown Russian named Pavel Silyagin with an 11-0-5 win-loss-KO record to make it an excuse that Canelo will fight a ranked 1 opponent.

Bivol already beat Smith Jr. before and it was not even close. WBA ranked 1 (Joshua Buatsi) and 2 (Callum Smith) are also both promoted by Matchroom and are easy to set.

You forced me to google who this Pavel Silyagin is. Well, I can say that does not want this fight to happen, as it will give him (and his legacy) nothing. With all respect to Silyagin, Canelo would fight someone he has already fought, than fighting a no-name.

Or it is time for Canelo to retire Cheesy Because there are no new challenging opponents left. He has nothing to do in light heavyweight, as there will either be a super easy opponent, or to face Beterbiev, Bivol and probably lose again. Stay in middleweight - beating someone second or third time is boring. To go to a lower division - he wont be able to cut so much weight imho.

Yeah I saw that one too and it's very unfortunate that Yerbossnuly was heavily punished by his opponent that has him hospitalised.
On the other hand, Morrell Jr. Is such a rising boxing superstar. The kid has the speed, power, and precision. He's for sure gonna be under everyone's radar after this devastating victory. That was such a heavy blow that even him (Morrell Jr.) knew how much damage it does to his opponent, that he was able to help Yerbossnuly get up after he collapsed after he got KO'd.

Can't wait to watch for his next fight.

A kind of fighter that fans will love to watch out, that solid win that creates noises around the web gives him a chance to make more interesting fight, if the kid will continue to established his name, he might create his resume and be a title contender. We will see if after this fight he will receive a new offer that will bring more hypes to his name.

Handlers of Morrell Jr needs to bring more entertaining fight like this, an outcome that will attract more fans to support him.

on the side of Yerbossnuly, looking forward to his fast recovery.

As per WBC:

Quote
The WBC stands firm on its previous order to not sanction any fights taking place in Russia or Belarus.

That ruling has now extended down to the fighters who hail from and proudly represent either nation.

All fighters from Russia and Belarus are being removed from the WBC rankings. The WBC will not sanction fights in those two countries and no national citizen from those two countries can compete for a WBC championship title.

https://www.boxingscene.com/wbc-remove-all-boxers-from-russia-belarus-from-its-rankings-policy-exceptions-explained--170317

Well as much as we don't like politics and sports being mixed up, unfortunately, Russian boxers are now being sanctioned by WBC with few exceptions. So it will be tough being a Russian in today's boxing and this is because of the consequences of the war.

as this type of boxing match is still selling tickets, the promoters behind this activity will continue to take advantage of this situation. but would be nice if they are setting-up good exhibition matches and not just because of clear intentions of pocketing the money from the boxing community. from time to time, we need entertainment. but should at least worth our pennies. and not just pulled out from somewhere, where the "boxers" themselves are not ready to rumble inside the ring.

There's a risk too on the side of promoters as they should organize an exhibition match that is really living the hype.

They can't just form a match randomly just because they want it. I do agree that there will be more people that will still support exhibition matches as long as those fighters involved are worthy to watch.

A fight between a famous one against a non-popular one can also do the trick. I don't know but money is really flowing at exhibition matches.

I've been asking myself the same question, like why are exhibition matches so hyped these days? People already know that the fight is somehow scripted but they still want to pay good money to watch the fight in person or live in their respective homes.

Maybe because the people have missed seeing the good veteran fighters fighting again that once built their names in their primes or maybe there is another reason why but yes, exhibition fights are also a good way to get good money these days as long as you're popular.

the reason exhibition fights are popular is that people have the opportunity to see those people that they are fans fight, because for an exhibition fight to happen there just needs to be an agreement between fighters, whereas in normal fights you have to follow the rules, so in a normal fight, people who are following the rules of category, weight, among other things that are part of the rules are fighting and people, even if they don't like the fighters, will make bets and some can even watch the fights. It's very different from exhibition fights where you see famous people fighting, at the end of the day exhibition fights will one day be more popular than regular fights

If ever both party agreed for a rematch, I wonder which weight Division are they fighting, would it be Canelo's division? or Bivol's division?  If ever Canelo go up in weight division just to fight Bivols in his natural Division, I think we will be seeing the same result like their first fight.

I don't think that Bivol can go and fight at 168 lbs, he has been a true light heavy weight fighter in his career. So most likely if Canelo insisted at this comfortable weight, Bivol is not going to take the fight. Canelo has 2 fights already in light heavy weight so I guess there is no problem for him moving up again and rematch Bivol. Although the result might still be the same as you have said.

Aside from that, Canelo don't have any power now to insist or demand what he want like to settle and contest their rematch in 168 pounds because he is now chasing Bivol, not the other way around. Furthermore, their first encounter happened in Bivol's division, so it's still better to make it happen in light-heavyweight and just like you guys said, this isn't the first time for Canelo.

Well, let's say that their rematch will indeed happen in 168 lbs. and let's say that Bivol have also agreed to it. The question is, is Canelo Alvarez ready to risk his belts and the undisputed title? I don't think Canelo have the guts to risk his status now because he already know Bivol's capabilities. Remember that supermiddle and lightheavy have only 7 lbs. or 3 mere kilograms of difference. Bivol will surely take that challenge for sure if that's the case, no doubt.

This is an interesting speculation Cheesy although it is not that likely that Canelo will risk what he has, but if ever Canelo will indeed insist that to Bivol to fight him in a title match in super-middle then I think Bivol will seriously take that challenge. But the reality is that Canelo is not that dumb to even consider that idea, if there's a rematch, it will be contested at 175 lbs.

Depends on the management as well as the hype for their rematch. Money talks, as they like to say. If audiences will really push it, things might change and that includes fighters' plan. Same thing goes with rematch of other fighters or in other fighting sports; a player (often the winner) could just move on and seek for the next contender but if the result won't satisfy the fans, teams of each fighter could negotiate to feed that demand. And I believe same idea implies on choosing their next opponent especially if they are on the same weight category, or if their names happened to be on mainstream and on the same level and in some instances 'ties', on their names.

It's a money fight for sure especially if the name Canelo Alvarez is fighting, any stadium will surely be fully booked if he's fighting. And it's not about hype at all because this is a redemption fight for Canelo even if his chances is still low against the LHW champion and a rematch clause is included in their contract as well, that is why Canelo can always make it happen.

Just like with the Kambosos-Haney fight, Kambosos activated a rematch in just weeks after he was defeated in their first encounter and Haney can't do anything at all because it was included on their contract and the fact they signed it means that they agreed on all the terms.

If Canelo will push for another money fight, taking the risk of asking a rematch may be negotiated and activated but who knows he and his camp may think about it, Bivol's fighting style is superb as he can adjust just like Canelo from his original division, maybe we might hear update or we will need to wait if they will going to make this fight happen, so far Bivol may go further and challenge Beterbiev if the champ still holding the belt when they start negotiating.

They already know that but knowing Canelo's situation, he already acquired two defeats in his career and he doesn't have anything to lose anymore in LHW. Eddie Hearn and Canelo will just pursue any money fights as long as Canelo's name can still attract viewers because they know that sooner, it wouldn't be that case anymore.  And so I bet they are ready to make that risk just to make the fight happen while they can still call it.

Sorry to be the bearer of a bad news, I know that we are all excited and inclined that whoever wins in Beterbiev-Yarde fight will face Dmitry Bivol next for the undisputed title fight.

But, it seems that a unification fight in the light-heavyweight division won't happen anytime sooner because the WBC do have another plan to whoever will win in Beterbiev-Yarde fight.

Quote
At the WBC’s 60th annual convention in Acapulco, Mexico, on Tuesday, they announced that the winner of Artur Beterbiev vs Anthony Yarde would be ordered to fight number one contender, Callum Smith.
https://talksport.com/sport/boxing/1241376/wbc-winner-artur-beterbiev-vs-anthony-yarde-ordered-fight-callum-smith/

But here's an another twist! Before Anthony Yarde will get his title shot against Artur Beterbiev next year, he should first face another contender named Stefani Koykov on a 10-round bout this coming November 19, this year. Surely, I didn't expected that!

Surely after seeing David Morrell and Aidos Yerbossynuly fight, it was pretty much gruesome to watch, a definite watch with just 8 fights he Brutally defeated an opponent with 16 fights and put him into a Coma shit like this is happening, and like I have said I want to prevent it from happening for this match it can be prevented because we can all see that in the 3rd round it was a one-sided match maybe they should stop the fight on round 6 or 7 the referee or the corner of Aidos Yerbossynuly should have seen it, that is why a fighter should have a corner or a trainer that would surely see and could save you from any harm or save a fighter from himself that is not willing to stop the fight,

This should be prevented if the referee and Yerbossynuly's corner have a keen eye in seeing Aidos Yerbossynuly's situation, Prayers for Aidos Yerbossynuly

But here's an another twist! Before Anthony Yarde will get his title shot against Artur Beterbiev next year, he should first face another contender named Stefani Koykov on a 10-round bout this coming November 19, this year. Surely, I didn't expected that!

That is a bummer of news, but all we have to do is wait eagerly for it to happen for me Dmitry Bivol VS Artur Beterbiev is one big fight many fans are eagerly waiting and they should not let that slip, this is going to be one big fight many will surely watch and a big income to take when both fighter clash, both undefeated and both have a style that could surely win over the other, but who is the more technical and more superior inside the ring, there are many questions that are why it should be answered inside the ring,

It will give us a glimpse on how prepared Yarde when seeing him fight another fighter before taking his shot on his title fight against the champ Beterbiev, I also don't see that coming just more than a week before that schedule fight maybe it's been negotiate before but no update show up, though fighters always have a regular training drills it won't be hard for a kind of fighter to adjust.

Let see if how those upcoming fights will affect the fans in terms of supporting whoever they think will be better in this division.

Yes, all we can do now is to wait for that unification, maybe 3rd quarter next year because Beterbiev is scheduled to fight Yarde January 2023. That said, Bivol will be vacated for quite some time, so he might have his own title defense again while waiting for the winner of Beterbiev-Yarde fight. And I just want to reiterate that Beterbiev is not on his prime anymore and will be turning 38 this coming January, so I dearly hope that we will see a unification fight much sooner without any delay.

Yeah, I read it along the way that the WBC doesn't want a Beterviev vs Bivol unification.

In any case though, it will be hard to make this fight as each has different promotion, so that is a big stumbling block again.

I just don't understand why they need to have Yarde vs Kovkov as a title eliminator. I though Yarde has the inside track already and scheduled to face Beterviev until the later gets injured and so the fight will be postponed till Beterviev recovers.

But let's see, I think it will favor Yarde even more if he has like a tune up fight first before taking on Beterviev. He just have to win that fight that's it and then set up the biggest paycheck of his career.

However, the fight that we all have been waiting is Bivol vs Beterviev, but it might not happen as usual because of boxing politics.

It seems like the WBC succumbed to pressures as there is an ongoing convention where people can join and participate. Yearly conventions are the perfect time to voice out issues and proposals as well. The WBC will now remove all Russians and Belarussians from their rankings and no more WBC-sanctioned fights in Belarus and Russia. Don Mauricio though can tell Silyagin to apply for dual citizenship just like what happened to unified champion Artur Beterbiev.

There are still plenty of good fights for Canelo at 168. The WBC also mandated former champions David Benavidez and Caleb Plant to determine Canelo's next WBC mandatory. There's also 160 champion Jermall Charlo wanting a shot at Canelo and the WBA regular David Morrell. If I were Canelo I'll defend my belts against the undefeated 160 champ Jermall Charlo. Charlo, Benavidez, and Morrell though are all under PBC while Canelo has an open contract with Matchroom, he is indeed very close to Eddie Hearn and DAZN.

Yup! waiting patiently for this fight to turn the full course is surely a bummer but that is all we can do, while Dmitry Bivol can surely have a title defense match and cash in some money while waiting I just hope they both stayed as title holders and undefeated when the Unification comes because if they would lose now there is no sense for them to fight anymore, while Artur Beterbiev is a ticking time bomb that could any minute retire if he feels that he can not fight anymore, he doesn't want to risk tainting that good record he has now, and the chance for that to be Ruin in the Dmitry Bivol fight is surely high, but on the winner of the Artur Beterbiev VS Anthony Yarde fight they will eventually fight Smith or Bivol, and that is for sure,

And that injury could be a sign that he might be slipping already, as his body is not taking that beating at least.

It is really late for him right now that he is turning 38 years old and we all know the effect of reaching the 40's some boxers are never the same again, right now he is prone to getting injuries more easily, getting slower and even his power shot is less effective sometimes, this is shown with Manny Pacquaio the latest fights he is losing his knockout touch, his last KO fights was against Lucas Matthysse, well just like Manny Pacquiao Artur Beterbiev is just like that but I really wish that he still prevails against Anthony Yarde,

That's how WBC is when Sulaiman takes over, he usually succumb to prepare for personalities, and other entities in the boxing community. Last year he approved Canelo going up and fighting Ilunga Makabu. Fortunately, it didn't happen and Canelo chooses Bivol and then lost. But in this case, very different, and I do agree that he simply has to follow what other organizations and sporting body did, sanction Russian athletes.

There are still plenty of good fights for Canelo at 168. The WBC also mandated former champions David Benavidez and Caleb Plant to determine Canelo's next WBC mandatory. Canelo said that Benavidez doesn't deserve a fight yet. He already beat Plant. Maybe worth noting is the other Charlo who wants to go up to 168 lbs and face Canelo. David Morrell could also be in line and a good challenge for him.

And that injury could be a sign that he might be slipping already, as his body is not taking that beating at least.

Initially, his trainer said that the injury is nothing serious that he can fight either November or December.

Recently there was information that the WBC, WBO, IBF light heavyweight champion Arthur Beterbiev due to injury, will not be able to face mandatory challenger Anthony Yarde in October in London, as originally planned. According to preliminary information, this fight may take place no earlier than the beginning of 2023

So I was surprised if the WBC is going to order another mandatory that involves Yarde. And for those who didn't know, it was knee injury that it had to be operated the soonest and that's why he did. Hopefully he can recover back and fight Yarde next in 2023.

I just don't understand why they need to have Yarde vs Kovkov as a title eliminator. I though Yarde has the inside track already and scheduled to face Beterviev until the later gets injured and so the fight will be postponed till Beterviev recovers.

As well all know, that wasn't the original plan and Koykov's name have just surfaced recently out of nowhere to face Yarde first, I don't know what is the reason behind as well on why did the WBC suddenly announced it. This wouldn't happen if Artur Beterbiev wasn't injured that resulted a delay on their fight with Yarde, now this gives Canelo a chance because Bivol will have to wait for quite a long time.

Another exhibition fight for Manny Pacquiao is brewing.  As the former UFC featherweight world champion Frankie Edgar is ready to call it quits from mixed martial arts after he takes on Chris Gutierrez at UFC 281 on November 13 at the Madison Square Garden. He left his door open for an exhibition match and would take the opportunity to face Manny Pacquiao in an exhibition match.[1]

“This is my last UFC fight, MMA fight for sure. I’m most likely, one hundred percent, it’s my last fight,” Edgard told MMA Junkie.

“But if there’s some boxing, maybe [Manny] Pacquiao wants to do an exhibition, I know he’s doing exhibitions now. I can be open to something crazy like that, but it would really, really have to be a good one,” Edgar told.

This might have a chance and his declaration will surely reach Pacquiao's camp in no time, so let's see it soon if Manny will give some of his thoughts about facing Frankie in an exhibition fight. For now, the legend himself is quite busy preparing for his return in the ring against DK Yoo in an exhibition bout and that means that Frankie will have to wait if ever there's a chance because after DK Yoo, Pacquiao has another exhibition fight with his former sparring partner in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this coming February of 2023.
