To we that's a big amount of money that the government are giving to our players that put the nation on the map but to them that isn't big. I am a big sports fan and a supporter of women in sports but I also understand those who feel that the government is not spending money on the right things. $100k is not a small amount even for professional footballers. Mind you, the $100k is not taxable and goes straight into their pockets. The players will also get paid their salaries for the tournament. If the players were given a condition to spend the $100k in Nigeria I would have preferred that the money be put back into the economy of the country.

We all can go on and on about this amount, first i will say for a winning bonus that’s not much but I get the point where other are coming from like the government have actually neglected other people like the military men or even police force who simply receive just $1500 as gratuity. Yes this is very low and they need to be commended but that doesn’t mean we should be putting it out on this players and the amount they will get. Rather we should be advocating for the government to simply recognize other people serving the country too most especially our security operatives.

We all can say this is sport but there is dangers in it too some players get life threatening injuries too in this games and we don’t know when it will happen, so going out means they were actually risking their life too for the country. Moreover this amount is more like their arrears owed over the past few years of playing, the last team to have been well awarded like this was the 2007 U17 world champions and since then the federation has been not making it easy for this set of players but yet they still come to gather each tournament to play and win it, so for me this amount might be big for our economy but not that big considering how much we have even been wasting on renovating some facilities in this countries which are useless

On that day of the Match, my stake in that game was very huge for the super falcons to win. Just like you I refuse to loose hope on our girls the moment they started loosing. I know what the super falcons are capable of unlike the super eagles that are lagging behind. The girls were able to turn the game around to their own favor even when morroco fans were trying to distract them by pointing  lasers lights directly into their eyes. Big Congratulations to our proudly super falcons for winning the WAFCON. It was a joyous night seeing our girls  lifting the trophy 🏆 for the 10th times.

Good financial management and investment is very important in everyone life no matter how big or little yoir pay is. Some footballers don't plan for their future after leaving the field. This is one of yhe reasons why some of them get broke and seek for help when they are hit with ailment. I also hope that they use the money wisely no matter how little it is. Footballers are the highest pay earners worldwide. Our footballers should focus more on investment.

I draw the line from your last statement. As a government official or even as an individual, whatever you do people will criticise your action and likewise some will hail your action. To be sincere, these ladies deserve every incentives to some extent for making it to that stage and even bringing home the trophy. Our sport ministry is underfunded and even their pay is not that good compared to what other parts of the world are paying their athletes. Despite training under inadequate materials and all odds, they came out victorious. It'll be hypocritical to say they were over rewarded for such sacrifice. Your point is good this is one reason why the rich always gets richer but it wouldn't still be bad if they were given 50,000 thansand dollars instead of the 100,000 thansand dollars i also heard they were given some house apartment which is good too because they brought glory to the country i think the government should also do same thing to those sacrificing their life like the army and police men and also to our civil servants even if is by increasing their salary ×2 of their current salary most of these people hardly see $100 a month as salary and this people are dying in battle field to protect the country, Nigeria government really need some rethink.

I like the fact that you also realized the need to appreciate good works, because such may be a motivation for doing more and better in the future, i also know that some will be there condemning the president that the amount is too much and he just wasted it upon the Falcons when the economy is not strong and the people are dying in poverty and lack each day, but one of the ways they are using in boosting the economy is football and sporting activities in general, because it attracts for international relevance and potential Nigerian citizens can participate globally to bring more pride to the country Nigeria.

Why are people even complaining about the amount the President pledge to give the Super Falcons, ain't they worth more than that amount for making the country proud in that heroic game against Morocco women. The gift is just like a thank you bonus for making the country proud and it's not even as if they will be paid that amount weekly or monthly.
