I thought African teams wouldn't be able to cope in the Club World Cup, but with the way African teams are performing in the Club World Cup, I am pleased, and I believe in the next Club World Cup they will perform. If Esperance Tunis or Mamelodi Sundowns can win their next match, one African team can possibly make it to the knockout phase of the Club World Cup tournament.

I thought African teams wouldn't be able to cope in the Club World Cup, but with the way African teams are performing in the Club World Cup, I am pleased, and I believe in the next Club World Cup they will perform. So far only top teams in each group has qualified to the knockout stage. 8 teams that I know have already qualified. The few African clubs like Al Ahly, Espérance de Tunis, Wydad, and Mamelodi Sundowns are still fighting for a spot in the round of 16, but they still have a chance before this stage is completely over. We should hope at least one or two gets a spot.

I agree with you about the African teams that they are doing well but let's say after the first leg, judging by that, the Al Ahly side are now in a tight corner of advancing into the next phase of this competition and from their standing it seems they might crash out after playing their last game which is against Porto who also need a win, so this encounter might be the last time we'd see either of them (Porto and Al Ahly) in this competition that's if they draw but if any gets a win that's where goals difference had to come in.
Wayad Casablanca are not in any way getting out of this because the top teams in that group are getting their best in this competition and the Moroccan team is nowhere fit for either teams when you have Man City and Juventus occupying 1st and 2nd position respectively I think is time to say goodbye to Wayad Casablanca.
Mamelodi Sundowns are doing more better than Al Ahly and they could survive this group since Dortmund is not pressing much pressure to stay at the top and I'd have to say that African teams are trying but not Wayad Casablanca they are not up to the task together with the headache of a group they found themselves. Mamelodi Sundowns need to get something in their next game to be comfortable on the log so let's say they are the best among the other African clubs in this competition.

From your analysis it is obvious that African teams need to put more effort for them to book a place in the Round of Sixteen. The next round of matches will determine how our continent will fair know this competition. My joy is that none of these African side have been disgracefully beaten like the New Zealand representative that was hammered by Bayern Munich. As the competition is progressing I am seeing more development in terms of quality and organisation. My expectations for thes teams ia let one be in the semi-finals.

African teams are gradually living up to expectation, I think that Mamelodi Sundowns, was at first intimidated by Dortmund, but I'm glad that they came back and fought well. If they continue to play quality football, European, clubs will not underate them and even if African teams in the tournament don't make it to the next round atleast they have shown improvement. The major problem with African football and why it seams that they are lagging behind is because every potential superstar wants to play in Europe, thereby giving brain drain to their local leagues. If African leagues becomes lucrative like European leagues I believe that many quality players will not be scouting for clubs in Europe.

Let's just hope and pray for either Esperance Tunis or Mamelodi Sundowns to win their next match so that we can see one African team making it to the knockout phase of the Club World Cup, but if an African team fails to make it to the knockout phase of the Club World Cup, I am still impressed and proud of how they have performed in the Club World Cup because it's not easy competing against clubs that have good players from different countries.

With the way the North American teams looks serious in this competition, I also know that they will not go far in this tournament because even the European teams are struggling to prove a point because some of them will be eliminated in the group stage.

However, Mamelodi Sundowns is the only Africa team that is about to secure the knockout stage and it is still under probability because they need to defeat Fluminense that is currently seating in the first position to secure a spot in the next round because even a draw can’t help them.

Dortmund on the other hand also needs to win their match against Ulsan HD, although a draw from them can still secure them a spot in the knockout stage if any of Fluminense or Mamelodi wins their match. Although a draw from them is also a win for Dortmund.

In as much as we want to stay positive we need to ask ourselves which of the group can any of the home based team be in and qualify to the next round? Well is still good to have one of ours in this competition but which of the NPFL clubs that is qualified to represent Nigeria?🤔 That's what we should be considering too.
I'm not putting my money on Esperance Tunis to beat Chelsea just that this very game will be a hard one for Chelsea since the manager himself doesn't look like one who has confidence in himself and his boys with his recent complain about the weather not allowing them to train and don't be surprised if this encounter between Chelsea and the Tunisia side Esperance Tunis ends in favor of Tunis, it can happen and for me I'd love that to happen because the Chelsea in question are not even playing like they did in the conference league finals, let's wait till 2am.

The truth is that the gulf between the African teams with the top teams playing in the world club cup is big there are room to improve and make progress because African teams are really lacking in terms of the quality of players and in even tactical play African teams should endeavor to improve on their teams quality of play

It is a big disappointment, out of four teams none of them are able to defend next round of the tournament at ease. Palmeiras from Brazil and Inter Miami from United States were able to qualify, how about we Africans, is it that we are not upgrading within our style of football, this is an advance era of football, from tactics and formation to how we should possess the game, we didn't make and no hope for any of the team, once again we wait another four years.

With the struggle you said for the European clubs let's blame it on the weather condition because some of them are not used to this kind of weather but on second thought, these guys are really struggling to be at their best, let's put the weather aside because this is the only thing they'll talk about like Maresca did.
Mamelodi Sundowns can still make it only if they get a win and like you said, a draw is not an option. The Mamelodi Sundowns are the best of all the African clubs that are in this competition and they have proven to us that they can still get that last gas to advance to the next round, a win and that is it but their opponent is not as weak as some of the teams in this competition so Fluminese will also love to get a win, the group is an open group for the 3 teams (Dortmund, Fluminese and Mamelodi Sundowns), so who's going to win and stay on top and who's occupying the 2nd position?
Was looking at the group and it seems like Dortmund have the better chance of becoming group leaders because their opponent isn't suppose to be called AN OPPONENT because of how weak they have been since the beginning of this competition. It will be a walkover for Dortmund and the hardest of them all is the Fluminese vs Mamelodi Sundowns, it can end in a draw but that would be a bad news for the South Africa side, can they try their best to win this game to remain in the competition? Let's see, I'm counting on them in as much as I love the Brazilian teams.

We would all be happy even if we did not see all of them on the knockout but at least let one of them come on the knockout, although is true that after this round we would no weather the African club did well because there wouldn't be need of being too much excited when they did not go anywhere, although there both chances are very critical for them to compete among higher ones to reach the knockout. However I never knew that Atletico Madrid is not going to be making it into the knockout because they have completed there matches but did not meet up to come out second or first.

I think @Hewlet is being paranoid about the outcome of the game because he either lost his bet or placed so much expectation on the African team that was defeated by Dortmund in the game, firstly they were grouped in a strong group where they can't get easy qualification despite their performance but being able to perform well I think they deserve some encouragement rather than what Hewlet is saying to them. This is not about the team nit having the necessary amenities but they played against bigger and better European teams you don't expect them to get a better result against teams Real Madrid, Dortmund and Manchester City it's not possible.

that we are even fighting to get at least a single spot in the round of sixteen tells of how backward we are even in football as a continent. the club world cup has given what we can to an extent call a fair opportunity for everyone to get a chance of showing that they are equally doing well in football in their country and yet it is still a big deal to at least qualify to the round of sixteen. the fact that even though a team or two qualifies, they might not even make it pass that round makes it even more frustrating. we need to ork on our league so when we see certain of our big african team player in a big stage as this, we will not always see ourselves as the undeerdog.

Dont be too negative my friend, you should be encouraging their effort on the previous games rather than throwing away their effort because they fail to qualify. It's obvious they are not the only team/continent that went out of the competition. Despite the fact that they African football association dont provide them the necessary amenities to equip this players, they still showed a wonderful performances. Remember, they were linked to tough teams like Manchester City, Real Madrid, Dortmund to play against.

The performance of African teams is an indication that the continent has a lot of work to do in its domestic leagues. I was happy when I saw that it was teams from North and South Africa that represented the continent since they have more advanced facilities and better financing.  But it seems that there is still more room for improvement. Our representatives put up some encouraging displays, but they can do better in the next edition of the FIFA World Cup games.
