I do not blame Victor Boniface as he quits the Nigerian national team. The guy is a true Nigerian as can be seen by the way he interacts and jokes with Nigerians online. I know very well that he was pained during the last edition of the African Nations Cup that he was unable to the present Nigeria because of injury. He has been injured majority of the times that he was supposed to play for Nigeria and why he is fit and has the opportunity to play, he will not score goals for Nigeria which is unlike him in his Club.

This and many other inconsistencies might have led to his decision. I do not see it inappropriate or insulting especially now that Nigerians have many forwarders that could fit his position very well. If there is need for him to return in the future there is still room for that

As an African, i can understand what it feels like for a major competition like the AFCON to be disrespected, but then I had to look at the person who was making that disrespectful remark and it was Jamie Carragher, the Liverpool defender that we as all saw during his prime who wasn't among the leagues of defenders if we are to count good defenders during his playing time despite the fact that he was playing for Liverpool, of course El Hadji Diouf knows his teammate and he is sending those words to him. But another another angle to the whole drama is the fact that Jamie Carragher has apologized for those remarks, but then is still in the minds of people because is not something that should be coming out from the mouth of a career football player like Carragher, some words are like a broken Glass, no matter how you try to amend it, there will still be some cracks, but then, this is just a friendly game and the need to show sportsmanship should be shown by Diouf.

The AFCON has always been underrated and disregarded by Europeans so I’m not surprised that Jamie Carragher had the boldness to say that online. There are many others who feel the same way about African football, Carragher was just the scapegoat for speaking out what many Europeans think.

Victor Boniface decision to quit the national team is not a good one, although he has not been too lucky at the national team. He would have been a little bit patient and by now he would have been seeing more matches since there is some level of meritocracy in the team now unlike before where there were lots of political interest playing out. Since that is his personal decision, the best we can do is to respect it and wish him well. The Super Eagles as it is today is not lacking much because in the defense we have Ekong and in the middle we have Lookman, Iwobi and other great players. The star boy Osimhen is in the finishing which makes the team balance from all front.

If Victor Boniface has decided to quit the super eagles please let him do it in peace. Nobody should beg him and he wouldn't be the first to do it. And this doesn't mean that he'll not go on to have a great career in the international field, he will. There are so many young players who are willing to take his place and do wonders. It is turn by turn. He has done his bit and we appreciate him for that. Now, let's get some fresh legs and fresh talents.

I wonder why we are still deliberating on this matter when the young man did the right thing by giving the fresh legs the opportunity to shine since he's not getting lucky representing the national team. His decision was so sudden but any one who has been following up with his performance in the national team will know that he has not contributed anything meaningful to the team and in his interview when he was having some good time with Victor Osimhen back home he apologized for his actions but he still maintained his stand so nobody should beg him again.

I think it’s annoying how African players have given to much in improving European football and in return no support comes from Europe. People like Jamie Carragher that say stupid things are the ones who get top positions in football shows, and they refuse to acknowledge the efforts of African players but quickly sing the praises of mediocre English players.

Let us not go down this route man, Jamie Carragher is just one person, and his views and opinions are his and does not reflect that of others. Europe welcome players from all around the world, as long as you are talented, you will do well do very well in Europe. Players from Africa and South America have done so well in Europe, because they were given the platform to do so, and i don't know what other kind of support you are asking for in return.

Nigerian players will never sees to be better. Calvin Bassesy was nominated on April with other Fulham players for the player of the season. Today he was annocued he is the winner of this year player of the season. A big congratulation to our Naija brother Keep making us proud Bassey.

Nigerian players have been paving way and making headlines in the game lately. Calvin Bassey happens to be just ine of the numbers in the premier league lately. His immerse contribution to the development of Fulham lately has gone unnoticed that even Fulham thinks he deserves the player of the season award. However the keeping aspect of the super eagles is excluded because we love what is coming from there but just some players has lost there performance.

I can say Victor Boniface hasn't even received the half the level of criticism the England defender Harry Maguire received some season ago for his poor performance in both his club and national team level, but Maguire never quited but instead worked on his lapses and got improved at his game. Who got the last laugh? Those who disregard the AFCON don't know about the physicality and difficulty it takes to play in the tournament. There is a mild difference when Africans play against other continents than when two AFCON countries are playing against each other. Africans don't go thigh for thigh because of how soft the officiating is playing international matches, our African style of play looks very aggressive, i think that is the reason why a player like Boniface, after playing well for his club, tends to decline in attributes to what he does in the national team. Thanks to our African brothers, who did Carragher dirty by winning England with that score line.

Still believe it's a joke because I have watched several episodes of his seriousness just to end a joke! but if truly he did give up for mere fans regular shades for incompetence then he surely is not emotionally strong as I usually thought of him as one jovial guy. It is not a Nigerian thing, football fans from anywhere in the world always demand the best from the players in the team they support, and if they underperform, they'll be criticized by the fans, pundits, you name it. That said, it is not like i am hoping it is a joke, i know it is, but even if it were to be true, he wouldn't be missed, we have enough quality players in that position and he is clearly dispensable.

It’s true that African football can be quite aggressive but I don’t believe that is a valid excuse for Victor Boniface’s performance in the Super Eagles. Boniface is playing for Bundelisga club Bayer Leverkusen, the Bundesliga is not a league that’s famous for technical style of football like the Spanish La Liga, they are very physical so I don’t get it when you say Boniface is not performing in Nigeria because of the physicality of African football.

Maybe I didn't put it right but what I meant was that, if the Super Eagles are winning by a goal to nil especially to one of these smaller countries in Africa, when the time is at 80'mins with the Eagles still leading I can't say the Eagles can hold that 1 goal lead till full time, there must be an equalizer to make it 1-1 because the Super Eagles have always been careless and they can't protect or should I say they hardly protect a lead like the 1nil lead I used as instance, they are that bad that even if they that's the Super Eagles are losing they can't come back and draw the game, I don't know if you get me now. We wish to see a better team every day that when they have any game which always happens but for that better team to display something special or something new is a problem instead they play like is the first time they are playing as a team and that's the problem of them not getting good results.

Victor Osimhem suffered goal drought when he arrived in in Galatasaray. But we saw his hunger and desperation which led to him becoming the highest goal scorer in the Turkish.  Boniface is a good player, all he needs is patience and hardworking.

Is very understandable now and what you said is true because when it comes with them is only when the match is Left with a second to close before we can be confident of saying anything about them, what you said is not something we have not seen from them because is now a routine matches for them when is left a goal to equalised, it was actually because of that Victor Osimhem isn't happy with his team sometimes, there was a match super eagles was winning 1:0 till this minutes you said and we were all excited of the three point and immediately the opposing team score them, so actually even if they are fund of killing the excitement of people but they should be at least good in one side. however except the mistake is obvious that it was from there goalkeeper will I believe if not the players will always  be at fault of any goal because super eagles doesn't have an inexperience keeper.

I hope it's a joke because in as much as I criticise his poor performance in the national team, I still wouldn't like to see him quit this early from playing for the Super Eagles as he could still be useful if he gets to work on his weaknesses in the national team. If he loves doing what he does on social media and it makes him happy, then that's cool but that wouldn't be a reason why he's not doing great with the Super Eagles meanwhile he's always in a n excellent form for his club  side. Except that he's priority is on the club side than the national team.

I want to believe that it is a joke because Boniface is known for “catching cruise” with almost everything. I’m as much as the Nigerian fanbase can sometimes be toxic, Victor Boniface should know that criticism will always come even from those you don’t expect. He is too young to be quitting national football, it’s because Nigeria doesn’t have good PR that’s why players can easily quit the national team as they feel it isn’t doing anything for their career. If it were to be an English player, he wouldn’t want to leave the national team because he knows the English media will promote him endlessly as long as he’s there.
