Hey guys, there is a Storj coin already? Why is there an ICO again? Will I lose my current Storj or how can I convert them?

The ICO is for unsold tokens from the 1st token sale. However they will be sold as the new ethereum-based token (STORJ).

You will be able to convert your SJCX to STORJ with an easy to use Web App sometime after the sale according to the team.

Okay, thank you. So the switch rate will be 1:1?
Do the coins on Poloniex get converted automatically?

Yes swap will be 1:1 total supply once over will be exactly 500 million as originally however for each coin sold in the sale there will 1 coin burned too so total supply should decrease after the sale.

I heard the team is also talking to exchanges to make the transfer happen on them directly but this may or may not happen (it's more in the hands of exchanges). I suggest following the project for news and updates to keep yourself up to date.

There is something I can't understand with this crowdfunding... As the current price of one SJCX is approx. $0.6 right now, why wouldn't all the SJCX token holders sell their SJCX now and purchase the new STORJ during the current ICO? We would definitely make a free benefit of approx. 20%?

I think this coin is skewed market scheme. 30M ico (for what? new product?) and converting the old coin which was half the price before the announcement of the new ico. I hope they return the investors "gold" and fail this weird scheme. 30 days to go. Hold on. Those who heard about the new ico knew the price would rise and sat and wait while the price reach new extremes. New ico announcement should have been a secret and keep the price fair,  but hey...

I would say that SJCX token holders have a high incentive to sell their tokens now and participate in the IPO for two reasons.
- If the IPO fails, they will get reimbursed in ETH/BTC and we will not have to suffer the consequences of the failed IPO (a drop of value of SJCX)
- However, they would highly benefit from the rise of the price of the new STORJ if the IPO goes through...
Therefore, selling the SJCX (as long as the price of the SJCX is still higher than $0.5) and invest them in the new IPO seems to be the best decision to take (in my opinion of course).

30M for only 15-25% tokens.
That is a lot of money. The cap should be over 100M. OMG.

Wouldn’t get too excited over this project until checking out the interface.  Lured in by the implied simplicity of creating buckets, you are then directed to tutorial using Linux command lines.  I understand it’s a work in progress, but, three years in and touted as functional.  Yet, no interface for public consumption.  No surprise that farmers can’t get shards on their dedicated equipment.

I have always been wanting to get into Storj as decentralized storage still amazes me, and it's a practical idea. I may have to bite on this ICO offer since this could really take off.

Guys, where can I find up to date roadmap on sjcx?

The team has released a very detailed doc on what's next for Storj and the industry they are in. Check it out:

https://storj.io/industry-overview.pdf

Should give you a good idea.

Does anyone have any info on the parameters to add to myetherwallet to make the token visible once distributed?

You will have to watch the STORJ token contract when it's released.

I remember seing that STORJ will be added to the default tokens on MEW. It is usually done pretty quickly after the tokens are released.

I see in this post, http://blog.storj.io/post/111594471093/why-sjcx-why-not-bitcoin, from February 2015, that the idea was for the SJCX coin to not be a store of value and that "SJCX will be capped by market forces at a suitably transactable value (incidentally, this is one reason we say SJCX is not an investment)."

This article is referenced on the token sale page under "Why use a token?", "Granularity". May I ask what the plan is to keep the value of Storj down?

Does anyone know why the funding amount has changed on storj.io/tokensale . it said they ahve received 28,000,000 USD last night, bitcoin rose up in value, and now it is displaying 27.4 mil usd.................
Are they removing funds to receive more?
The token distribution will be determined at the currency exchange rate that is effective at the time of the payment.
So BTC value doesn't have impact on the value of coins already invested.
The lower value of current pot compared with yesterday (if you are right with numbers, I don't know) can be result of exclude invalid investments or so

What do you mean? like removing off people who submitted payments improperly and lost their coins? cause fi that was the case storj would still receive their coins , they just wouldnt get thestorj token, there is no reason whatsoever that the amount fundraised should have lowered while bitcoin was currently rising in value unless storj was faking numbers allowing the ico to run longer than cap intended

The numbers should reflect the price of the coin at time of sale.  They were not.   They applied a fix, so that it is correct.
