What miner is best for Monero?. I hope someone will reply to me the best config and setup for profitable Monero Mining. Thanks!

Some people swear by Claymore's Cryptonote miner for mining Monero, but I found that 'SGminer-GM 5.5.5' (now morphed into GatelessGate) gave a better hashrate and lower power consumption.

Claymore's Cryptonote Miner: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=638915.0
SGminer-GM 5.5.5: https://github.com/genesismining/sgminer-gm/releases
GatlessGate: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1612329.0

This is my .bat file for mining with SGminer, you may need to tweak the --rawintensity, -w & -g values to suit your cards.

Code:
setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 1
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_MAX_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_MAX_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

sgminer -k cryptonight -o stratum+tcp://pool.minexmr.com:7777 -u 4AKksH23v1L81TindxA1ZU6fPQTdbnxiVi3kjBKQTd6wMK7idtAbdNV4CE2s7TjUgYXpF8qFp7LK4cqoqMYkh2rrJiY1QC6 -p x --rawintensity 896 -w 8 -g 1

Hello there, I am trying to import a wallet.keys (from an old simplewallet client) into the latest linux gui wallet.
However I get this error:
Code:
Couldn't open wallet: std::bad_alloc

Any hint? Thank you.

edit:nvm i imported it from the seed.

In summary, the Intel Management Engine and its applications are a backdoor with total access to and control over the rest of the PC. The ME is a threat to freedom, security, and privacy, and the libreboot project strongly recommends avoiding it entirely. Since recent versions of it can’t be removed, this means avoiding all recent generations of Intel hardware. details https://libreboot.org/faq.html#intelme --- https://tehnoetic.com/laptops --- https://store.vikings.net/x200-ryf-certfied

Judging from the schedule in the near future we will see the growth of the coin. Well, if they add COIN to Bitfly exchanges, I think we will see x2.

I’m pretty sure Surae and the MRL gang is on the case. I remember at the NY meetup him basically talking about (I’m paraphrasing here) how he inherently doesn’t trust the algorithm because it was created by the bytecoin devs.

Wasn't the algorithm created by Nicholas von Saberhagen, and the bytecoin devs just implemented it in C? Besides, how much of the original C code are we running nowadays anyway? Less than 5%, isn't it?

Monero Developers Aim to Reduce Transaction Size by 80% or More

MONERO TRANSACTION SIZE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED

In the world of cryptocurrency, very few people actually wonder how large their individual transactions are on the network. The answer would surprise a lot of people, as one would think there isn’t much data involved in sending money across a blockchain. As it happens, the reality is very different. That’s especially true in the world of Monero, where the anonymity and privacy offered by the network come at the cost of larger transaction sizes.

To put this into perspective, a single output transaction on the Monero blockchain is 6 kilobytes in size. That may not seem like much, but one has to keep in mind the average Bitcoin transaction size is around 250 bytes, give or take. This means every transaction conducted in XMR is over 20 times the size of a Bitcoin transfer. From a long-term perspective, this vast size difference is not manageable, and something will need to change sooner or later.

While it is true the Monero ecosystem has a dynamic block size to ensure this doesn’t become a big problem anytime soon, the developers are actively looking for ways to improve upon things before the situation gets out of hand. The new solution goes by the name of multi-output bulletproofs. It is a solution currently being researched and developed by the Monero Research Lab, and it currently exists in a Java version only. There will be a C++ version as well, but it will only support single output BulletProof transactions at first.

What makes this concept so interesting is that it can effectively reduce the size of a single output transaction to 704 bytes. Compared to the current 6 kilobytes, that is a reduction of over 80%. For double output transactions, the size would be reduced from 12 kilobytes to under 800 bytes. No one can deny this would certainly make things a lot more convenient for all Monero users, as the current massive transaction size will hinder the growth of this ecosystem moving forward.

When exactly this BulletProof implementation will come to Monero remains to be seen. For now, it is tentatively scheduled for the September 2018 hard fork, but the team wants to ensure this concept goes through rigorous testing first. There is little point in releasing a half-baked solution, especially when it is one that is vital to the Monero ecosystem.

There is more exciting news to report in the Monero world. Monero’s multisignature implementation is still being tested, and Surae Noether is reviewing this technology as we speak. Guides have surfaced for setting up 2-of-2 and 2-of-3 Monero multisignature accounts already, but it will be good to see the results of this peer review. It will be an interesting year for Monero in 2018, as a lot of good features and projects will be finalized in the next twelve months.

Yelling retard

Only retards would post like this, do you really think anyone in this thread even finished reading yyour all caps rant before putting you on ignore? I know I didn't Cheesy

LOL  Retard  Cheesy

dammit I have the patent on calling idjuts retards! Tongue

More and more demand for privacy coins like Monero!!

It is not just criminals who wants privacy... actually the bigger transactions comes from wealthy folks who are trying to keep their wealth a secret.

Take a look at the leaks from Paradise Papers and Panama Papers and we can all see that it is our political leaders, royalties, top business leaders etc who are really hiding all their transactions and wealth..

criminal transactions pale in comparison to them...

And you can bet your ass all the worlds countries 3 letter agencies are using it for payoffs. Imagine that a tool they didn't have to fund it's like a dream for them!

True. Corporations have a lot to hide  Grin Grin Grin

Corporations are people too!

Can someone explain to me why you would have extra code at the end of your wallet address?

Example:    423XT9hcut3gQR6kw5pPpSXivmW1m3PqA2nLHGLbx5RzbSynrRUZizPN5EW2kDDZAafZrQTsY2utxTF gQAryiiCgFgQhi71.4d8ddccc40568d93

After the address you have .4d8ddccc40568d93     Is this a payment ID or something used by mining pools.  An integrated address?  If so how is this code generated and how do you find or chose one for your wallet or mining pool if applicable

Thanks

XMR performs well during the huge bitcoin pump while other altcoins mainly go down. This is exciting to see XMR is adopted by the mainstream in dark net.   Grin

Assuming you're talking about the wallet address setting in your miner software for pool mining, yes, that's most likely the payment ID that the pool operator uses for payouts.

Like in normal payments, if you're using your own wallet (i.e. you have the wallet seed), you don't need to generate a payment ID for receiving funds. Payment IDs are intended to be useful for exchanges and merchants where they need to know who sent which funds; e.g. an exchange would issue a unique payment ID per customer to manage deposit balances.

So, if you're pool mining directly to your account on an exchange, you'd know the payment ID assigned to you by the exchange. Otherwise, you don't need to care about it; your wallet address alone suffices.

Nobody really knows or isn't saying, and if they did, shouldn't be believed without verifiable evidence.

I don't know of a number for that, but the PoW hashing code was completely rewritten as well as having documentation added.

Is that from "show_transfers"? If so, it's just formatted improperly. That is, it shows address - amount - short/encrypted payment ID, but there should be spaces between them in order to have proper formatting.

I've got an inscription in mymonero
"Your account is catching up, your details may be out-of-date until it is finished (38189 blocks behind). This is not an error, and you do not have to do anything except wait until it is complete."

Yesterday was 37570 blocks. Guess it will take a very long time. Transactions doesn't work. Please tell me what can I do to send my XMR now? Huh
