Hi there, i'm kind of new to aeon and crypto as well as many of people recently looking there for hints. i like a lot AEON despite any other altcoins (but that's not very appropriate to highlight aeon as an alt imo) for many reason, is accessible to mining with average equipment, and promising features are implementing as soon as the rebase is being completed. So far i read most of this thread to have a good knowledge of the ongoing, i loved the spirit of the community around aeon in the proccess. Sorry my english is meh, can't explain the real feeling. My expectations are many, would like to see some improvement as well, better managing of things in general... in the times that are needed for accomplish them. In the meanwhile i'd like to "bump" some useful resources from the past. - First, as me, someone is approaching aeon from the very beginning. My advice is to read the Original Post of this thread , you should find most of the things you need there.
- Second, a guide to the basic use of the aeon wallet here https://www.hiddenjadestone.com/2017/06/24/aeon/basic-use-of-aeon-wallet/
Credits goes to the blog owner, @thehihoguy , there you may find other useful guides. Very appreciated man, hope you still are in the nearby.
That's for the very start. Welcome to aeon and have a fine day.

I compiled Aeon from source to Linux Ubuntu. Everything seems to be just fine. But the sync gets stuck to block 1000. It returns the message Sync data returned unknown top block:1000 So what to do? Hi, if i'm not wrong here's open issue https://github.com/aeonix/aeon/issues/117#issuecomment-355760735hope it helps

You just ignore the community voice and keep spamming. It's clearly no use, you should be giving up by now.

Perfectly normal. Your node found another node with a bad blockchain and rejected it.

The same problem! I can not get into my wallet. Because the blocking is not synchronized. Already on another PC I try - all the same. wallet Current release 0.9.14.0 I definitely did not expect this ... nodes ... Why nodes should not let me synchronize the BC. And even in such quantity. how do I pay now ... with other coins did not notice this

If it shows the current network block height (910863 as of now), you're good. If you're stuck at the height 1000, try these options: For the latter, you'd need to build the latest master yourself. If you're on Windows, you could use this binary that I configured with AppVeyor: https://ci.appveyor.com/project/stoffu/aeon/build/1.0.98/artifacts

Just make a GUI wallet pleaseeeeeeee..... This seriously. Mac version too. What's the status from dev? I run the daemon and wallet from Mac for my personal account. It's a straight forward build, just follow the instructions on GitHub and make sure you have the correct dependencies. You can do it!

Hi Jeremy,
Yes, I can tell you that it is easy with a CPU. I recommend you to use CPUMINER. In my opinion, the best pool I have found for AEON, which I am currently ming, is aeonminingpool.com, where you can see the progress of your miners. And the worst minergate.com.
I think AEON has a great potential and 2018 will be its year.

I will try to download all again I recommend you to use CPUMINER.
IMHO not the best choice. If the processor supports AES-NI, use xmrig

Use xmrig and play with the settings until you find the best one that suite your hardware.

@smooth. What are the updates on the code rebase? I see that the price is very bullish these past few weeks, but I am afraid this growth is only supported by the overbullishness of the buyers who might be expecting too much because you are attached to the project.
I hope the hired developers are still working on the rebase. I reckon some of them might give up because of their lack of experience in Cryptonote.

@smooth. What are the updates on the code rebase? I've heard from one developer who claims to have made some progress and will be releasing some code soon, but talk is always cheap, it is the actual code release that counts. So we'll see.

I agree, it's quite frustrating that many people experience the daemon getting stuck this frequently. This problem didn't exist until just a few months ago IIRC, and I don't know why it persists. Could it be that some malicious person is running a customized daemon that keeps broadcasting the wrong chain in order to disrupt the network? Hopefully this will be fixed when the rebase is done.

slb mentioned that he is working on it on the previous page: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=641696.msg27437448#msg27437448He is the maintainer of dashcoin and maintainer/creator of forknote, I believe, so I would say he's definitely got some experience in cryptonote codebase. I'm more optimistic that it will get done since I saw his post the other day.
