There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. EWallets such as Coinbase are like banks -- a central organization has complete control over your money. You shouldn't put much money in EWallets.

whats the status of this coin ? anonymous coins are going to be huge this year I mined a few aeon coins, but this coin has been out since 2014 but no GUI wallet (really hurting its mass adoption) ? I think the coin could really be the Litecoin of monero if it had some updates , Im watching Sumo concerned that it will surpass Aeon (nice wallet clear roadmap that's hitting its goals) and become what we thought Aeon was going to be come. Is the Dev working on this project still or is it abandoned ?

I believe the dev, smooth, is rebasing the code to bring Aeon's tech in line with the current state of Monero. There's isn't much activity on github though, so I'm hoping this development is happening on a private branch and we'll see the results one day.

@Durins Bane. The lottery mentioned to be sure to account for the 0.01 transaction fee. We know some Aeon holders might be intimidated in using the command line. So maybe it is a good idea to post the exact command or instructions to type in the command line.

Also, I see there are Aeon haters in the thread. There must be something about this coin that threatens them hehehe.

Sumokoin is a scam with 10% premine: https://explorer.sumokoin.com/block/6eb04b6b8c68049a76206fe2805ede5f7465c03b7112850d3262a067b9914dac
How can any currency claim legitimacy when substantial portion of its total supply is held by select few?
Think twice before touching it.

Aeon is the only legitimate Monero fork, of course without premine: https://minergate.com/blockchain/aeon/block/1

Aeon was launched very long time ago by an anonymous developer who had to abandon it unfortunately.
When the coin was about to die, smooth stepped up and saved it.
Even though the development activity is low at the moment (which I think is kind of intentional), some important fixes are applied in a timely manner, and the network is functional.
The codebase is maintained well.

Aeon has some special role to play. It's laughable to compare it with scams like Sumokoin.

Yes avoid Ethereum as well it has a 17% premine. You are going to lose your money.

And Bitcoin. And ALL ICO's. Basically 98% is scam. Real deal coins marketcap is just about 100M$. Rest is scam and ponzy.

I agree that all ICOs are scam, and I disagree that Bitcoin is the same; it's the very beginning of the whole thing, and it was inevitable that Satoshi ended up holding significant amount of coins simply because of the low recognition. Even then, he seems to intend to not use those old coins, which by now is more or less part of the social contract. The minute he moves those coins, I think Bitcoin's legitimacy will get significantly damaged.

You're making yourself a fool by calling Bitcoin a scam like other coins.

aeond.exe  - fails to synchronize blockchain at  height ~ 903600.      was there a hardfork?

No, there was no hard fork recently.

Please try the following and see if it solves the issue:
  • stop aeond.exe by typing "exit"
  • delete C:\ProgramData\aeon\p2pstate.bin
  • start aeond.exe again

Also, if you encounter a problem, please provide a bit more lines of logs.
