NEMStake is pegged to the price of NXT not a price of BTC. This is just because NXT has dropped about 20% in the last few weeks.

He said "basically" useless, which is true. Most of the people who actually care about NEM have already bought and redeemed their stake on the AE so the volume is thin now. The price on the AE could easily drop because everyone who wants to buy in already has for the most part (unless the price drops very low and then I assume we could see some major stake buying at low prices... which is lucky for whoever gets some if that does happen).

There are most certainly people trading NEMstake on the AE who don't even know that it is going to be worthless soon, and they might panic sell when they see the buy (and sell) side of the order book dwindling. But yeah, the price of stakes do not matter at this point because we are so close to launch. We'll see what the true value of NEM is when it is traded on the open market post-launch.

I clarified a few points about the idea to give a NEM silver coin to every stake holder:

Everyone in the nemesis block would get an asset for a NEM silver coin (excluding dev/marketing/ecosystem stakes). This asset would be issued on the NEM asset exchange and everyone could freely trade it/tumble it before redeeming. This should break the connection between accounts and addresses that people need to get the physical coin shipped to (any other ideas would be appreciated as well).

Additionally, those who don't want the coin can just sell it and move on (though who wouldn't want an awesome NEM silver proof coin, minted at the world famous Perth Mint?!)

Yeah im very new to nem/nxt, i got nem working a month ago and even had people send me some nem, tried to start it up this month but now its at 0 nems at block unkown and doesnt update, not sure if i did something wrong with the java update or what

I typed in a random node name and when clicking send the send screen pops up

Maybe your ports are blocked?
Can you still not sync? Does your log have any errors in it?

I think 512MB is more suitable. I believe the RAM footprint for NIS is 512MB to run properly. 1GB would be good though but I believe 512MB is the max.

Maybe Banana Pi is a better bet. It has 1GB RAM.
