Has anyone successfully flashed the new firmware and kept their old settings?
What do you guys think about load balancing the pools? I seem to be getting a few extra gh/s and my discards went down.
I still have a lot of discards though and I know others do as well, has anyone found a way to bring the discards down?
Ok, GH/s are about the same. Discards are less than double the accepted shares, which is better than 6 times the accepted shares, as I had before. Take note, I have not updated the firmware yet. All I have done is switch from Failover to Load-Balancing and started mining across three different pools.. One more thing I noticed. I have best shares now, when they used to just say 0.

Looking for some help with PSU choice for s3, have read a few people talking about running two S3 from one power supply, looking at Corsair 850HX 80 plus silver (£75), Corsair 750HX 80 plus silver and (£66) Evga 750 super nova 80plus bronze (£61). Will these psu run 2 machines ? any user had experience or thoughts on running two S3 or S1 from these power supply's, Overclocked all my Antminer S1 from day one and none of them have ever missed a beat, reading posts on forum don't think i will overclocking the S3 for now. Currently use Corsair cx600m 80 plus bronze for miners which cost me about £55 each have eight S3 from batch 4 if i could save £200 by using only 4psu goes a long way to helping with ROI, any help would be appreciated.
BTW - I am aware of guys running two S1s overclocked with the server power supplies and having no issues. Personally, I have not tried them. I have heard some claim they are loud. But I have been around those using them and found them to be fairly quiet. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=281359603322&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:ITI use 8 of these and if you put DIP SWITCH 1 to the ON position they are quieter then ATX supplies. AND very little heat ! Agreed - these are very quiet. But the Dell's are LOUD!

Are there any "guides" on the web showing how to flash the firmware, I dont have a clue as to how it's done. Thanks Bob
bob, Download the image from bitmaintech. Accessed via the Support page. (antMiner_S320140721.bin) Log on to your miner's home page. Click the System tab Click Backup / Flash Firmware Bottom option 'Flash new firmware image' click Browse and open the directory you downloaded the file to. Click Open and then the click Flash Image button. It will upload the file to the miner. When complete click the Proceed button on the page that opens. The miner will reboot with the new firmware.

Regarding the new firmware: There is a box that you can leave 'ticked' to retain your settings. I flashed it and the settings are retained (as insurance, i saved the configuration file, which is easy to do: System tab, backup/flash firmware, the upper part is the backup/restore area - 'generate archive', after the 'setting archive' is generated you 'download' it to your pc) Flashing new firmware is on the same System tab, backup/flash firmware, Flash new firmware image: leave the tick in the box of "Keep settings:", then simply follow "Image:" browse to the location of the image file (assuming that you have downloaded it already from Bitmain's support page), follow the prompts... There is an interim step that tells you what the selected image size is and the checksum, if you are happy with those click on 'proceed', then wait for the process to complete until your Antminer reboots and presents a new login prompt on the web gui. Just did this and it works Too early to declare results, but preliminary impressions are positive (nothing 'earth shattering' though). Cheers

I was able to get the discarded amount lowered as well as the load. I changed the queue to 0 from 4096 and added --scan-time 1 --expiry 1 to the cgminer file. ***IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WHAT THIS MEANS DO NOT TRY AS YOU WILL BRICK YOUR UNIT*** This is the first attempt, not sure if 0 is the optimal queue value for all pools but if you are a P2P miner you may want to try this out. I use a smaller pool and my numbers have gone up. This is along the same tune you could do for an S1 but a far cry from what we did in the GPU days. I have another unit running at a lower speed but have the same results. SSH in then: vim /etc/init.d/cgminer --scan-time 1 --expiry 1 Find line 75 PARAMS...at the end change --queue 0 and add --scan-time 1 --expiry 1 before the quotation. ***DO NOT TRY THIS UNLESS YOU FULLY UNDERSTAND AS YOU WILL BRICK YOUR UNIT**** Before Config Change (I added a line so it is easy to see, I took it out when I finished) After Config Change Ant Before Ant After CHECK THE LOAD VALUES looks like the load was lowered, but it is hashing slower with less accepted shares

Poolside The hash went up poolside. Strange the way the pools are exaggerating the rates, such as BTC G is doing as well. I will work with the Queue values to get a reading on how it effects both GUI and poolside values. BTW philipma1957 I am sure you recognize the pool used here. That is quite a significant difference between what the miner says and what the pool says.

I have been using --scan-time 1 --expiry 1 on my S1's for P2Pool and just added --queue 0. Poolside S1 HR on my P2Pool is WAY higher with --queue. DOA seems about the same so far. I'll have to let it run for a while. Interesting stuff to watch while I wait for my batch 4 S3 units.

Have bought from Bitmain before and never seen a UPS message like this. Am in the US, BTW. The packages have left Anchorage probably headed for Louisville.
"07/25/2014 9:16 P.M. A valid tax ID or deferment number is missing and is required for clearance. We are working to obtain this information. / The package is at the clearing agency awaiting final release."
WTF Over?
Anybody got a clue whose tax ID they want. And what the heck is a "deferment number"?
Thanks in advance,

Also, eleuthria is keeping this updated as his lawyer advises him: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=49417.msg8015578#msg8015578

You know how if it is returning allot of work during a period the pool will normally reflect a higher rate, right now it is 497 poolside and GUI 466. Need to find the sweet spot for all of the settings.

Thanks for this post ! Going to try this on one of my units and see how it works out. This was default on the new firmware: PARAMS="$AOPTIONS $POOL1 $POOL2 $POOL3 $_pb $_ow $_bec --api-listen --api-network --bitmain-checkn2diff --bitmain-hwerror --queue 4096" I tried it on one by adding the --scan-time 1 --expiry 1 flags, but didn't see any difference in discards or load. Maybe some of you will have better luck.

Thanks in advance,
How many units did you order? This message means that you have to supply importer paperwork - which is nothing more than filling out a PDF that UPS will provide you - and emailing it back to them. I had this happen when my SP10 was shipped to me. I called Fedex about it, and the girl I spoke with said it was because the value was over $2500. So, just call UPS, fill out the paperwork and your miners will be released and sent to you.

Here is a comparison on projected returns with network difficulty increasing 10% vs 20% after power costs assuming BTC US value remains at $600 per BTC.
Awesome chart, thank you for sharing. More colors than my sheet, but same conclusions.
