Windows 10 crashing after last Window 10 update some days ago!

Anybody else the same problem and gets a blue screen with a DPC_Watchdog_Violation error Huh

I get this error since some days after i updated my Windows 10 with a new update some days ago.

I tried everything i could think about so far, including re-installing GPU drivers, re-install of AwesomeMiner,
other driver updates, Diskcheck, whatever not, but nothing helps.
Hey Boxalex,

Each time now i run AwesomeMiner i get after some time that DPC_Watchdog_Violation. When benchmarking
it happens rather really fast after only 3 - 5 minutes and when running AwesomeMiner in mining mode later,
which makes me think that a given specific algo or miner software is causing the problem. (Just a guess).

This said i have no idea what to do. A roll back of Windows isn't a solution for me.

Here my config i use at my home pc:
CPU 8700K, 64GB RAM, 2x 1080 ti GPU's, Asus ROG X Hero Maximus, SSD, Standart Edition AWM license,

Anybody any ideas what else to try? AwesomeMiner maybe working on compatibility as i doubt i'am the only
one with this problem on Windows after the recent update....

Two things you can try...

1) Go here, and follow the instructions, and/or
2) Benchmark each algo individually, to see which one(s) cause the problem.

Have fun!  =8^)

Hi Patrike,

  I've been playing with Awesome Miner for a couple of weeks, whilst learning about mining, and like how easy it makes things.

  I have setup various config files for SRBMiner outside of AM, and have been able to gain a 23% increase of my hash rate, but, when I put those configs into AM's profit profile, everything up to "gpu_conf" is passed to the miner, and everything after is ignored Sad

  Here's my config for CryptoNightv7 from Options --> Profit Profiles --> AMD GPU --> SRBMiner --> Configure --> SRBMiner (Override config.txt content is checked for all variants of CN)
Code:
{
"cryptonight_type": "normalv7",
"double_threads": true,
"api_enabled": true,
"api_port": 4028,
"gpu_conf": [
  {
"id": 0,
"intensity": 15.4,
"worksize": 8,
"adl_type": 2
  }
  ]
}

Here is the config that AM generates for SRB when benchmarking and mining...
Code:
{
  "cryptonight_type": "normalv7",
  "double_threads": true,
  "api_enabled": true,
  "api_port": 4028,
  "gpu_conf": [
    {
      "id": 0,
      "intensity": 0
    }
  ],
  "reboot_script": "tskill SRBMiner-CN"
}

  Is there someplace else that I have to enable config overrides for SRB?

 Thanks for a great prog.

Have fun!  =8^)

Thanks for the quick update, now if the numbers are corrected, now if the rules with real numbers make sense.

One question, last night there was a fork, LUXCORE of phi, step to protocol PHI2. When that is reflected in WTM, will only the protocol in the program come out?

I have now added Phi2 and with AW coin updater added Luxcore, to be able to mine it, but that is a separate extension of the program.

I leave another small bug so you can correct it, it is in GPU, if you look closely, you will see that 1050 have more hasrate than 1070. Those numbers are changed, somehow identifies them badly, and of course you do not know one if also the frequency and others are good or bad. It does not affect me much, but I leave the failure in capture.

and to finish, I hope you believe that in next versions there would be a simple statistics of last 30 days, it would make things much easier to know if some changes produce more or less.

Thank you very much for your good and fast work

Out of my 10 rigs I have one rig with 11 gpus that the miner crashes every couple hours.  The rig has 8 GB ram, cleron processor, 100 GB ssd and asus mining board.  The CPU is near 100% a most of the time.  The risers seem good.  Do I need more ram or a faster processor?

its nice awesome miner restarts the miner.

@trucobit if you've enabled "map to system monitoring" option in Awesome Miner and then moved your GPUs to other PCIe slots, or if your mining software changes the reported GPUs order - then you can have mixed stats, just like on your screenshot.

@patrike, found a bug in AM web interface, both classic and new.
I am using Enterprise Edition, web interface with multi-user security enabled.
the problem is that I need to enable authentication on Security tab in Options for multi-user security to work.
without that web interface asks for login/password, but after a successful authentication it doesn't honor miner access restrictions for user groups. so every user sees full miner list.

and if I have app authentication enabled and the server with AM reboots for some reason - then AM starts after reboot but all the rules and profit switching don't work before I enter my credentials.

also I have a suggestion to add an option that would show estimated miners profit in miner list and on dashboard both in fiat currency and in BTC. it would be awesome.

thank you.

high CPU usage is often caused by some hardware problems.
one of my rigs runs 18 GPUs on ASUS B250 Mining Expert with Pentium G4400, the CPU usage usually stays around 10-30% with both AMD and NVIDIA miners running. so check your connections, risers and maybe PSU. you may try to swap your risers with known-good ones from another rig and retest.

Thanks for your feedback on the GPU, we are here to help.

On the other hand I am amazed that with a G4400 and 18 cards, this between 10-30% CPU. I have a Rig of 6x1080ti and I had to remove the G4400 and put an old i3, because it was always at 70% and lower to 20% .. It is amazing 18 cards.

So much difference is there between some risers and others? Can recommend a good brand.

I guess it also greatly depends on the algo. I'm mining Ethash with P104-100 cards and CN-Heavy with RX570 on that rig. they are not CPU intensive at all.

can't give an advice about the brands, even the best quality risers may fail over time. usually I buy plain dark blue 006C 6-pin risers.

I've encountered abnormal high CPU usage before and almost always that was caused by bad riser, bad riser USB cable or GPU not seated correctly in riser slot.
also too much overclocking or setting the cards power limit too low can cause similar issues.

if you are using MSI Afterburner - you can disable all the monitoring graphs in Options, the CPU usage will significantly drop.

Thanks, Ill start trouble shooting risers and see what happens.

Well started unplugging risers and one of them seems to be causing the problem, rig runs well but cpu is still at 78% with system making up most of the cpu usage.  I'm going to try unplugging other risers to see if it lowers the cpu usage.

Have fun!  =8^)

nothing worked, tried all, including the steps you mentioned. It keeps crashing with DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION and BAD_POOL_CALLER as well.
Trying to reverse the Windows Built now to the previous one .....

But the problem is definatly on the Awesomeminer Miners Software. For example it crashes with XMRig Nvidia Miner immediatly, sometimes with CCminer and never with BMminer for example....

Update: Everything perfect with previous Windows 10 built/update.

Not sure if your motherboard feature the PLX chip or not but from NVidia Release Notes on windows 10 Open Issues:

Random DPC watchdog violation errors occur when using multiple GPUs on
motherboards with PLX chips. [2079538]

This has been the case since the 397.xx drivers got released and has yet to be resolved, I have some rigs that I needed to stay with the 391.xx likely due to this issue.

Hi Patrike,

There appears to be a glitch with the manual algo configuration for coin statistics.

I have manually entered XTL on the page as using algo CryptoNight StelliteV4, but when I close the window, the profitability data for the coin drops to 0 even though it has active difficulty and pricing data, If I remove the custom algo change, profitability data returns to the correct figures.

Hi and thanks for reporting this scenario. If you have selected a single GPU for the benchmarking, Awesome Miner tries to be smart and generates a configuration based on a single GPU. However, you don't want that in your case.

I will change this behavior in the next release. I think a workaround for the moment could be to set the GPU for benchmarking to "All Combined". Then Awesome Miner shouldn't change the GPU settings in your configuration.

Thanks for your comments.

Right now WTM reports this coin as Phi. You can still force Awesome Miner to consider this coin to be Phi2 if you go to the Options dialog, Statistics section and use the new "Override coin algorithms" feature, where you tell Awesome Miner that LUX is Phi2.

I am using Enterprise Edition, web interface with multi-user security enabled.
the problem is that I need to enable authentication on Security tab in Options for multi-user security to work.
without that web interface asks for login/password, but after a successful authentication it doesn't honor miner access restrictions for user groups. so every user sees full miner list.

and if I have app authentication enabled and the server with AM reboots for some reason - then AM starts after reboot but all the rules and profit switching don't work before I enter my credentials.

also I have a suggestion to add an option that would show estimated miners profit in miner list and on dashboard both in fiat currency and in BTC. it would be awesome.

thank you.
Awesome Miner actually had the behavior of forcing you to use "Enable Authentication" in combination with the multi-user web access for the filtering to work. You have good timing on your request here because I've been reworking some of these parts in order to add support for multiple sub user accounts via Cloud Services.

From the next release, you will no longer have to use "Enable Authentication" for the multi-user web interface.

And for those interested in the multi-user login feature view Cloud Services - it's expected to be ready quite soon as well.

Thanks for your other comments and suggestions as well. I think the main challenge is to fit the information on the screen. The dashboard will however be made more flexible and configurable in the future.

Thanks for reporting this scenario - I've just implemented a correction for it. It turns out that the mapping to another algorithm works fine, but some of the latest Cryptonight variants (like StelliteV4) wasn't calculated correctly for coins-per-day by Awesome Miner, resulting in a close to zero revenue.
