Quote
On October 19th I noticed a potential issue with mixin/decoy selection on XMR transactions. I sent the following email to Riccardo Spagni with a CC to luigi1111 on October 20th:

tl;dr: In many cases it's easy to determine the real input in a ring since the hard fork. UPGRADE YOUR WALLET BECAUSE YOUR'RE HARMING MY PRIVACY USING OLD CLIENTS.

Had this been posted yet? I found this error very strange. But it shows how a blockchain depends on both the miners and the users being always well informed.

There is no error. But people should always use the latest version when available or not use it if to lazy to update.
You're saying,
"Nothing to see here folks, move along."
NOT.
It's a real bug, a real issue, and lots of people will go on using 13.0.2; many of whom don't know of the update.

Of course is a real bug. That is why there are upgrades with the bug fixed. It is one of many bugs and many more will come in future.  If I remember right it dont endanger privacy much, since it influences just one  feature that helps Monero be private.

People do need to alway run latest updates. And I am not talkingonly about Monero protocol updates.

What specially bothers me is this:

from here

https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/9scymk/post_fork_monero_decoy_is_harming_privacy/

If I understand it right then Monero with this bug still have better privacy then it had a month ago. But it is not as it was planed after fork. 13.0.4 is making it to be as it was planed.

So people that complain right now that others that still use 13.0.2 are endangering their privacy should never use Monero until a week ago, because privacy was worse back then as it is now.

Hey folks... it's me, yeah I'm back after vanishing so long ago LOL

Just wanted to pop in and make a post today on the bitcoin white paper's official 10th Birthday... posting in this thread just because overall this thread has always been the place I posted the most in the last several years (hopefully mods won't delete it as off topic?)

Wanted to say also that seems to me today at ten years into this great experiment, and guessing it might take something like twenty years for crypto to really take over as the real new global currency, a little perspective we are about half way to it being all said and done, either total failure or global dominance.

I myself got into this stuff only about 5-ish years ago so I guess I'm personally "halfway thru the halfway", seems like a million years ago LOL

But... yeah... well... that's about it.  Hope y'all doin' well out there.  I'm kinda laying low "out" of day to day worry on all the cryptoshit these days but still hangin' in there for this stuff to have all been actually worthwhile, in the end.

Ciao for Now, bitches!  LOL  Grin

P.S. Wow... COOL!!!  Looks like my post triggered the top post on the 2000th page!!!  Cheesy

Good to see you back - and well done for being top of page 2000.

Surely that's a good omen - stick around, the bear market should be over before too long.

I'm planning to invest in XMR and ZEC. I think privacy-based projects will be in much better places in the future. Right investments can make good gains over time. XMR is one of the most robust projects in the market.

Monero is my favorite project. No one understands the value of Monero. It will be understood in the future how precious privacy is.

What's so special about him? There are many projects with complete anonymity and now they are leaving even more. Then what is the beauty of this project, why do you highlight it to the fore? I saw projects better than Monero.

Monero $25 Q1 2019.

Mark my words.

Every coin will go back to the price before the summer 2017.

Most investors lost there trust $600 billion dollar money is gone..

600.000 people made 1 million dollar dumped there bags to new crypto users..

Some guys bought monero for $8 end of 2016 and they hold there bags 1 year to dump it and they did it..

Same with ethereum.. I know guys who bought for a couple dollars and dumped there bags for $1000 to the mass.

Its over around 1 million crypto investors dumped all there coins after one year to the mass in december 2017..

That was the best time to get out.

There never was $600 billion lost (or put) into crypto somewhere in 2017 or 2018. That's not how it works.
You put one real billion of dollars to buy any crypto, you will increase total crypto market cap by much more than one billion.

It's not off topic, not to me. Everything owes its life to Bitcoin, and Monero, which got first famous after marketplace operators decided to adopt it, should recall that these marketplaces and traders first used Bitcoin. If not for all the inabilities of Bitcoin to provide private transactions, there also wouldn't have been a use case for Monero.

20 years you say? I think even more. But quietly, the revolution and experiment is progressing. 2000th page! Long live Monero!

Monero $25 Q1 2019.

There are many older traders that belives crypto bottom is still ahead of us.  I belive in that less and less, but yes thee is still quite a chance for bottom in Q1 of 2017.   But. BTC cant go down much more. Monero will go down only as much as BTC, no more.  In case of Crypto bottom Monero will be safest bet beside BTC. All other coins will lose way more.  Beside that I am quite positive that Monero will be worth more 1 year from now in both USD and BTC.   Uh and I also said long time ago that Monero will not go under $50.

I really wonder monero seems so silent throughout the bearish season. While other major cryptos still on the radar, monero seems to be out from it already even if it is still having a good cap and price. I believe that once the bullish season starts, monero will be listed on the top 10 again.

It already is?

It's been that way for weeks (a month or more, I believe).
